Chapter 39: Jihoon's Intentions

While Minseo was making her moves on Seokjin, Jihoon was also laying the groundwork to get closer to YN. Ever since he had reappeared in her life, he couldn’t shake the feeling that there was still something between them. Or, at the very least, something that could be rekindled.

He began by casually dropping by her office, under the guise of discussing business opportunities. At first, YN was hesitant to entertain these visits, but as the days went by and her relationship with Seokjin grew more strained, she found herself oddly comforted by Jihoon’s presence. He was familiar, uncomplicated, and his attention gave her a distraction from the chaos of her life.

One afternoon, Jihoon invited YN out for lunch, and though she was initially reluctant, she agreed, seeing it as an opportunity to clear her head.

They met at a trendy café in Gangnam, and as they sat across from each other, Jihoon couldn’t help but admire how YN had grown into such a successful and striking woman. She was radiant, with her perfect curves, glowing skin, and an air of confidence that drew people to her like a magnet.

"You’ve really made a name for yourself, YN," Jihoon said, smiling warmly as he sipped his coffee. "I always knew you were destined for great things."

YN smiled back, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. "Thank you, Jihoon. I’ve worked hard to get here."

Jihoon leaned in slightly, his voice taking on a more personal tone. "But are you happy, YN? I mean, really happy?"

YN’s smile faltered, and she looked down at her coffee. "I don’t know, Jihoon. Lately… it’s been hard to tell."

He reached out and gently placed his hand over hers, his touch warm and comforting. "You deserve to be happy, YN. You deserve someone who can make you feel loved and cherished."

YN looked up at him, her heart twisting with conflicting emotions. She knew what he was implying, and a part of her was tempted by the simplicity of what he was offering. A relationship without the complications, the drama, and the heartache that had come with Seokjin.

But as she looked into Jihoon’s eyes, she realised that while he was saying all the right things, he wasn’t the one her heart truly yearned for. Her feelings for Seokjin, despite the pain they were causing her, were far deeper and more intense than anything she had ever felt for Jihoon."

I appreciate what you’re saying, Jihoon," YN said softly, pulling her hand back gently. "But my heart belongs to someone else."

Jihoon’s expression didn’t waver, though a flicker of disappointment crossed his eyes. "I understand, YN. But if you ever change your mind, I’m here. I won’t push you, but I want you to know that I care about you."

YN nodded, offering him a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Jihoon. That means a lot."

As they finished their lunch, YN couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. Jihoon was offering her an escape, a way out of the turmoil that her relationship with Seokjin had become. But her heart refused to let go of Seokjin, despite everything.

As they parted ways, YN found herself more confused than ever. Jihoon’s return had only added another layer of complexity to her life, and she wasn’t sure how to navigate it. But one thing was clear, her feelings for Seokjin were too strong to ignore, no matter how much easier it might be to walk away.

And so, as Jihoon’s intentions became clearer, YN found herself at a crossroads, torn between the safety of the past and the uncertainty of the future with Seokjin.
