Chapter 4: Likely Resolution

"Your father sold you to us."

Alarmed, Samantha shook her head from side to side. "That's not true. Let me go."

"Get her out of here." The man ordered to someone.

Another approached her and grabbed ahold of her upper arm. She struggled as she is pushed forward. Soon she is placed on the back of a horse. She know because she heard the noise it made when she was settled on top of it's back. Both her hands were grabbed and tied together. Then it felt like the other end was tied to the staddle.

"Where are you taking me?" she asked in a quiet voice. She was hoping to pass time in hopes that a guard man was to come by and see what was happening.

"Somewhere special. Now behave yourself and you might live through this."

That's was when the horse started moving. She thought about kicking the horse, but the bag over her head would provide her from seeing where she was going. Anywhere would be better than with these men, but not if that meant breaking her neck.

She could hear the hoo-ing of an owl, and concluded they were in the forest. The silence didn't help, but raised her anxieties. She was being kidnapped and there was no way of letting anyone know she was taken. Hours seem to pass and their march forward seem to slow to a stop. She found that she was falling asleep when two hands jerked her from a top the horse.

"Hey!" she complained as the bag is snatched from her head. What she saw upon the removal of the bag had her gasping. Four men looked back at her. Their stares wasn't what had her gasping, but their clothes and the weapons at their hips alerted her to who they were: bandits.

Bandits were a known problem in the kingdom. They stole and killed whenever they wanted. They were the caused of so many people getting hurt after being robbed.

"What do you want with me?" she asked no one in particular.

"We told you. You been sold to us. You are now ours to do with as we pleased." The man who spoke was the one who had spoken earlier. He had black hair and a mean expression.

"Then what are you going to do with me?"

"Don't worry your pretty, little head. Our leader will find something for you to do."

"You mean you're not the leader?"

The four men was thrown in a fit of laughter. This only made Samantha mad. Why were they laughing so hard? Surly nothing about her question was funny at all, she thought.

The man in charge stopped laughing and wiped a tear from his right eye. "That was a good laugh. Hey you-" He pointed at a man on his right. "Go start a fire. The rest of you. Let's bed down for the night."

He took the princess by her upper arm and pulled her along behind him. They crossed the ground and he made her sit down against a tree. "Stay put and you might eat."

She watched the men go about doing whatever task they needed to bed down for the night. When she caught the smell of some type of meat was cooking over the fire, her stomach begin to rumble. One of the men, the shortest of the group, took a piece of meat from the skillet and placed it on a plate. Standing up, he walked over toward Samantha.

Untying her hands, he held the plate out to her. "Here. Ladies first."

"Why? So you can poison me?" she said anger laced her voice.

The man only looked at her. Without a word he sat the plate down beside her and turned, walking back toward the fire.

Samantha's stomach growled again. She remembered she haven't ate dinner, and so, she grabbed the plate and begin eating with her hands. A tear slide down her face as she thought about never being able to return home again.

After finishing eating, she quietly placed the plate to her side. She watched the men as they laughed and talked among one another. She stuck her feet out while keeping her eyes on them. When no one turned their heads in her direction she took another until she was quietly sneaking away from the bandits.

She had gotten a good few feet away when she heard the calm voice of the mean looking man said, "Go and get her."

She bolted in any given different. Jumping over roots and dodging trees, she ran onward. Hoping to come across any nice warrior or person, she glanced over her shoulder. There he was! The shortest of the group of bandits were chasing her.

Looking back forward, she almost fell to the ground after tripping over an upright root.

As the inn came into sight, Samantha slowed down, catching her breath.

I made it. I out ran him. Maybe just maybe I'll find someone to help me inside. Tell my father and he'll take care of these bandits. Yeah.

Just as she took a step forward, her arm is grabbed and she lets out a loud shriek.
