Prologue Part 1 - The Day Tragedy Strikes

Fury's narration

This team didn't get together like most teams.

Some of the best groups of people have to face impossible odds to stay together.

Whether it's horrible mistakes, difficult compromising and long amounts time, the greatest teams beat every problem they face.

We didn't ask to get together to fight the bad guys, but we weren't given any other choice.

I suppose we should start where it all began.

The evil scientist we all know and hate being challenged by the world's best hero.....again.

They looked like they were going through the motions again.

The two taunting each other to see who had the most swag in the moment.

Unfortunately, everyone got caught surprised by his new right hand man.

He came wearing a metal helmet, black outfit and a red gem on his chest that glowed with unrivaled power.

The new villain knocked the hero around like a rag doll, not even breaking a sweat.

Other villains showed up to give the speedster a piece of their mind too.

The mad doctor's greatest robot, Metal.

The so called God of Destruction, Chaos.

One of the last of the Zeti, Zavok.

And last of all, that traitor of a hedgehog, Shadow!

Just when everyone had accepted that black backstabber as a hero, he shows up to take out the one guy trying to save the world.

At this point, it didn't matter what we thought of who, because the worst had happened.

Dr Eggman had won......and no one could stop him.

Normal POV (with Bopper)

Greenwood Falls

Benjamin Gruff was heading over to his family's farm outside of town, the black bear eager to tell them about his recent win.

He walks up to the door and knocks, his father greeting him on the other side.

Ben frowns upon seeing his worried face. "What's wrong, Pa?"

George Gruff sighs. "Go see your mother at Carlos' Cantina. You have to see and hear it to know what's going on."

Ben nods and runs off to said restaurant, seeing most of the town there watching what was on television.

His mother was sitting in a chair, watching with a tissue in her hands to wipe the tears in her eyes.

Ben goes over to see the television and know what the big news was about.

Gine just says to herself. "Those poor boys and girls..."

Ben finally sees the news report and gasps. "Oh Chaos........Joey please be safe from this."

News Report

This is Oscar Williams, speaking to you from a chopper flying above the heart of invasion going on by Dr Eggman's army!

It's been three hours since this attack started, and there's no evacuation of forces from here!

There's been no sign of the Blue Blur himself anywhere, and robots are rampaging across the city!

Wait! What's down below?! Get us in a little closer!

It's some sort of floating Mobian, but it looks nothing like Silver!

He's floating near the battleground between a few robots and some protectors fighting back.

What's he doing?!

Oh Chaos! He just blasted the resisting Mobian force like it was nothing!

I'm not sure if anyone survived or not, but that blast did cover a huge area!

Oh no! He's looking right at us! Pull out! Pull out!

We're hit! Mayday! Mayday! We're going down!

Normal POV (with Soar Featherstorm)

A suburb 20 miles from the battlefield

Soar watched the news in shock of what he saw, not believing his eyes.

This was like Robotnik invading Mobotropolis and Megatropolis all over again!

What was even more shocking was the fact that it was the city practically a walk from where he was!

Soar calls on the phone, trying to reach his son, hoping he survived.

No response.

Soar calls again a few minutes later.

No response.

He gets worried, about ready to go down there himself.

Suddenly, gets a call back and immediately answered, but it wasn't his son.

A voice asks. "Are you Ace's father?"

Soar answered. "Yes. Is my son alright? Who is this?"

The voice responds. "I'm a paramedic. And your son is..."

Soar worries more after hearing the hesitation in his voice. "Please, I need to know."

The paramedic tells him calmly. "Your son has been injured. We found him pinned under debris. We're trying to rush him to the safest infirmary as quickly as possible."

Soar's eyes widened as he put a hand to his head. "Oh Chaos..."

The paramedic asks him. "Where are you right now?"

Soar answered. "A suburb twenty miles from the city you found him in."

The paramedic was surprised. "What?! You got to get out of there! The army is practically on top of y-"

The phone line went dead, either by being too far away......or by signal interference.

Soar knew he needed flee...now!

As luck would have it, his son's stuff had been placed in a suitcase ever since they had to travel to visit an Air Force base.

His stuff was barely packed, he just needed to get the valuable possessions he treasured.

Thankfully, they were all in the basement.

He hurried down the stairs as he heard shots and explosions going off in the distance.

He found the four possessions he needed to pack.

The medals he earned for his service in the military during the Great War.

The keys to access the hangar where his old plane was.

A familiar flag folded perfectly in a triangular box.

And lastly, a picture of himself with his long lost wife.

Soar mutters to himself. "I wonder what you'd think of this now if you were here."

He puts everything away and gets the duffel bag onto his back.

The front door to the house is blown open, metal feet stomping across the wooden floor.

Soar sets up some C4 in his basement, a little security gift from the general before he left military.

He sets the timer to go off in 10 minutes, enough time to flee the place.

Soar grabs his handgun and loads the ammo inside, ready to make a big exit.

He sneaks up stairs and hides behind a corner, knowing the enemy was right in the house with him.

He heard two steps, estimating one of them was just four feet from him in the hallway.

He puts both hands on the pistol, waiting for just the right moment.

It stays quiet for while, until he heard another step, meaning three feet away.

Soar gets out of cover and fires two shots into the Egg Pawn in the hallway.

The robot fell down from both shots, a clear giveaway to the others that someone was still in there.

He hurried towards the living room, shooting down one that just entered the hallway.

He spots three more bots hiding behind furniture, waiting to ambush him.

One was behind the couch, one set up a table as cover and the last one used some cabinets as their hiding spot.

Soar throws out a piece of candy into the living room, fooling the one behind the table to poke out and shoot it.

The eagle shoots it with another two rounds before taking cover behind the corner against to avoid getting shot by the other two.

Soar times his moment right and fires a headshot into both robots before they take cover again.

He heard more bots coming, knowing they were probably thinking an organized force was inside.

Soar rushes to the garage and gets in his car after barricading the door to it.

He presses the button to open the garage door, stepping on it to mow past the crowd of Egg Pawns on his front yard.

Soar managed to get on the road just in time, because his 10 minutes were up.

The C4 in the house went off, creating a huge explosion that took the house down......with 20 or more robots inside.

He had to hurry to catch up with the ambulance rushing his son to medical help.

Normal POV (with Fury)

Westopolis

Kyle Howler runs down the streets towards the orphanage.

He had seen the news from his home in the Robinson Mansion and was worried for his little sister.

Kyle knocks on the door hard, demanding to be let in.

The owner opens the door and lets him hurry inside. "What are you doing outside? It's not safe out there!"

Kyle nods and walks down the halls with her. "I know, but I needed to see if my sister is okay."

The owner nods in return and calls out. "Windy! Are you still with the others?"

Windy runs in and smiles when she sees Kyle. "Big brother!"

Kyle runs over and hugs her. "Are you alright, sis?"

She hugs back. "Yeah. I was scared the big bad robots got you."

Kyle chuckles. "It's gonna take more than a few tin cans to get your brother in trouble."

The owner opens the basement door. "Get down with the others. We can't let the robots know we're still here."

Kyle and Windy hurry downstairs as the city started to be attacked.

For the next few hours, a room full of children were hiding together as the madness above unfolded.

Dust fell down from the ceiling as it shook from a blast hitting the ground not far from the orphanage.

Windy huddles with Kyle. "I'm scared!"

Kyle tried to comfort her with a some petting across her head. "I am too, sis. Just stay calm and we can go get something to eat later."

Windy nods and buries her face in Kyle's chest.

After another hour passed, it felt like it calmed down.

The owner went to open the door, but was knocked into the wall by a blast that destroyed it.

Kyle wasn't far from the concussion blast, getting knocked into the wall himself.

Kids scream and cry as Egg Pawns come in and point their weapons at them, ordering them to leave with them.

Windy tries to get Kyle up. "Big brother! Wake up! Wake up!"

Kyle only gets a second to open his eyes to his sister's face before seeing an Egg Pawn let her away and up the stairs.

He gets up and yells while going after them. "Windy! No!"

He reaches outside the orphanage where several bots were putting them into a ship to carry them away.

With the bots....was Shadow.

Kyle glares at him, the grudge he had from the Black Arms invasion coming back to him.

He never trusted that black hedgehog, and today proved to him that you can't trust an experiment.

He yells at Shadow and runs at him. "Traitor!"

Kyle hit nothing in his rage, with Shadow not being in the spot he tried to hit.

He sees him and tries to hit him again, but he disappears again.

Aggravated, he hits all over the place, wanting to take him down and rescue his sister.

A minute later, he was tired, Shadow having worn him out from probably teleporting around him.

An Egg Pawn shoots Kyle down, his head hitting the ground hard.

Windy screams at this. "Big brother!"

All the kids were on the ship as it took off, the robot army leaving Kyle for dead.

Shadow disappears again, no enemies left to see Kyle suffer.

Kyle reaches a hand out in a vain attempt to want his sister back.

"Windy.........no..........come back....."

Kyle blacks out after that.
