Normal POV

At the outskirts of the Mystic Ruins

This was the position the G.U.N message told the Resistance to meet at to start the search for Eggman's secret facility.

Unfortunately, only 3 individuals got the message and decided to show up.

Kyle was there first, curious as to why he was the only one there.

Surely everyone in the Resistance got it, right?

His Chao flies around him, as if he was pacing while waiting with him.

Company then arrives in the form of an orange bird with metal parts, a big black bear and a human scientist.

Kyle looks at them. "Seriously? You guys are the only ones who got it?"

The bear shrugs at this. "Pretty much. The doc here just came with us voluntarily."

The green wolf rolls his eyes and asks. "Still...who the heck are you guys?"

The bear grins and steps forward. "My nickname is Bopper. I was the muscle of my old squad."

The bird extends a metal hand out. "And my nickname is Hip. I..... I can't really think of what my skills are aside from what the doc has."

Kyle ignores the offer to handshake. "And what's the doc here?"

The human gives a bow and tells him. "I am Doctor Ulysses Fairfield. I see you and Hip are fellow inventors like myself, since that grapple device of yours is clearly not under licensed regulations for the Resistance standards."

Kyle hides the grapple device and responds back. "Uh...thanks. So any idea on what to do?"

Hip shrugs and asks the obvious. "Why don't we just warn the Resistance so we can attack all together?"

Kyle shakes his head at the suggestion. "They're too busy chasing Eggman's butt to take out something they'll deal with later. Plus they'd rather listen to that idiot of a hero and that time traveler than listen to us."

Bopper asks him with his arms on his sides. "Then what ya expect that we do, leaf butt?"

Kyle growls at him. "Call me that again, and I'll throw you into the incinerator."

Hip smiles and tells the wolf. "Let's call you Fury. You got a short fuse to match that name."

Kyle decides to roll with it since admittedly...it did sound cool.

Now called Fury, he answered Bopper's question. "We go to that facility and blow it up."

Bopper was skeptical of that action. "I'd like to, but how do we keep the Resistance leaders from finding out that we went somewhere without their orders? We'd be tried for going AWOL if we do this."

Fury thinks about how tough it would be to stage a mission like this without the commander knowing.

The Resistance wasn't listening to their headsets at the moment, but then being detected way far off from their usual positions could get them to use the tracker and the hidden microphone to find out what they were doing.

Dr Fairfield speaks up. "Might I see your headsets? I believe I can take out the chip that connects you to the Resistance home base. All of you could operate incognito from the eyes of your leaders."

Fury looks at him and nods. "Not a bad idea. If it can be disconnected quick enough, they won't even notice they suddenly lost three soldiers out of the blue."

Fury, Bopper and Hip all hand over their headsets to Dr Fairfield to see if it's possible to escape their superior's sight.

In a matter of a few minutes, the chips were all taken out.

If they were at the Resistance base, they would've seen their data disappear from the computers there.

Fury takes the chips in his hands and crushes them.

"Now.........we go rogue."

Normal POV

Dr Fairfield's Lab

The team goes into the laboratory as the doctor looks around for some extra tools to use on the mission.

Fairfield tells Fury. "I will warn you that many of my tools are untested, so there may be side effects to using them."

Fury asks him. "What could you possibly make besides that one building that used zero gravity elevators?"

The scientist shows him an energy railgun of some kind, but it was colored cyan and looked the right size to carry.

Fury ask him after whistling. "What is this supposed to do?"

Fairfield answered him. "This is my prototype of the Cyan Cannon. It's able to fire up to four beams of Hyper-go-on energy exclusively from the Cyan Wisp."

Bopper looks at the end of the weapon. "Is this the first weapon to use Cyan?"

Fairfield shakes his head. "No. There was once a pistol that could do that, but the owner has been assumed dead and the pistol was never found."

Hip frowns in disappointment. "Aw come on! That would've been cool to reengineer so that everyone could have one."

Fury grabs the weapon. "So four shots? Any chance we can reload after that?"

Fairfield adjusts his glasses. "Not really, I haven't gotten the proper equipment needed to build a cooling unit so it won't overheat from using the last shot."

Bopper looks at the doctor. "So if we use it up...it might not be able to work again for a long time?"

Fairfield nods at question. "I am afraid so. Use it wisely."

Fury asks him out of curiosity as the weapon was handed to Bopper to carry. "Are you staying here?"

Fairfield walks over to a large exoskeleton mech that he had. "I will come with you to help, as well as make sure Hip's limbs do not fail him."

Fury smirks at what he was about to use. "Impressed, doc. You're packing heat for this mission."

Bopper asks him while carrying the Cyan Cannon. "What can that thing do besides help you keep up?"

Fairfield tells him. "This suit can harness the power of a few Wisps that can haven't been used as Wispon power sources."

The doctor gestures to each of the weapons. "It can use a Pink Wisp to power a mace on the right arm. The Purple Wisp can use it's Frenzy Mode to give this suit a power boost for an hour, giving the thing durability. The Orange Wisp fires missiles out of the back and front. The Crimson Wisps powers it's ability to fly into the air. Gray Wisps can create a shockwave with this suit, shaking everything in it's path. Indigo Wisps create a force field. Blacks Wisp shoot bombs out of the left hand. And finally, Jade Wisps activate stealth mode and turn invisible."

Hip asks him when he realized something. "What about Magenta Wisps?"

Fairfield smiles and points inside the cockpit. "They power the radio. I can get unlimited access to ANY song out there."

Hip smiles at this while Bopper and Fury roll their eyes, knowing they won't hear the end of the music montage after this.

Normal POV

20 miles from the destination

So far, their mission was working, with no one on the Resistance coming for them.

They then spot a few Egg Pawns on the road they were using, practically blockading the bridge needed to cross into the region the facility was in.

Bopper pulls out his Blue Wispon. "This'll be a cakewalk for us."

The team attacks the bots, each of their Wispons subduing them.

Bopper didn't get very much due to his weapon requiring him to be at close range to hit them.

The Egg Pawns pretty much went out quickly by Hip's green Wispon and Fury's lightning Wispon.

They stopped to get everyone to rest their Wisps.

Fury looks around for more. "I don't like this...that wasn't the kind of defense I was expecting."

Bopper shrugs and puts away the blue Wispon. "Maybe Eggman's gotten lazy with these ever since he captured most of the world?"

Hip points to something in the horizon. "Uh guys....look!"

They suddenly see several battalions of Egg Pawns and squadrons of Buzz Bombers, with three massive Death Egg Robots in the distance.

Fury looks at Fairfield. "Now's the time to try out your suit, doc. Let her rip!"

The scientist nods and gets all weapons set to aim at the enemy ranks.

He fires off several missiles at the incoming Buzz Bombers, blowing their positions and forcing them to split off.

When the first battalion of Egg Pawns approached them, Fairfield fires bombs at them, blowing them to smithereens.

The team progresses forward on the bridge, assisting Dr Fairfield on reducing the enemy approaching them, getting closer and closer to the end.

Even Bopper was getting some hits in as the bots were practically a whack a mole game at this point.

But then the battle went south in seconds.

A large blue ball of metal sped by and knocked Dr Fairfield's suit back several yards before getting up.

The team was stunned at the sudden arrival, not able to believe their weapon was down that fast.

Hip asks everyone. "Was that Metal Sonic?!"

Fury responds back in concern. "No...it's worse than that."

Mecha Sonic was back...and the rookies were the new test run.

Fairfield gets up and tries hit him with missiles, but Mecha just flies around and lets them crash into parts of the bridge.

He tries to fly up to attack in the sky, but Mecha was too fast, going down and destroying the jet boots.

Fairfield catches himself and puts up a force field in time to block shots from Mecha's gun.

Mecha flies all around, trying to blast the shield off, but to no avail.

The bot then quickly curls into a ball and dashes at the mech, attempting to saw it's way through the shield.

The shield did fine at first, but then starts to weaken when Mecha puts in maximum speed.

With a sudden explosion, the shield breaks, pushing the mech back several feet.

Fairfield draws out a mace and runs at Mecha, determined to make some damage.

Mecha turns into a ball to dodge...and then cut through the torso of the mech suit, the top half containing Fairfield falling to the ground.

The bot then flies away, knowing that the team couldn't survive an army fighting them without the suit helping.

Hip runs over to help him. "Doc! Are you ok?!"

He hears coughing as he looks in to see Fairfield with black spots on his face and smoke rising around him.

The scientist wheezes out some. "I am...fine."

Hip and the team look to see the bots closing in on them.

They were surrounded....no sign of escape!
