Part 1 Chapter 2 Moments of Heroism
Bopper's narration
I'll admit that my moments weren't always the best, but that didn't stop me from trying.
I goof up and ruin a lot of things when trying to beat the bad guys, but I always got back up to keep fighting.
My heroic moment came when were trying to get our artillery to the right position so we could rain fire on some Death Egg Bots.
But something went wrong on the route...
————————————————————————
Normal POV
Battlefield near Central City
Bopper came into the fray with his squad, armed with a Blue Wispon to fight back with, despite hating to resort to weapons.
The battle had been pushing to take the outskirts of the city since the first month of the war began, making it the 3rd most heavily hit area behind Westopolis and the City where Infinite appeared.
The black bear could see the kind of damage that frightened him if it reached his old home, with smoke building in the sky and some structures still on fire.
He could hear his team captain calling him over, standing right near the long range artillery. "Gruff! Come over!"
Bopper came over and stood straight. "You called, sir?"
The captain points to the bridge, which had collapsed on half of it, the place more of a ramp than a bridge.
He tells him through the noise of the action. "The bridge fell after we got 3 cannons through. You're the strongest on the team and you have a Blue Wispon. You're going to build a bunch of blocks and hold the last part you don't have by yourself."
Bopper nods. "Will I get any backup to protect me down there?"
The captain shrugs. "We can only aim that low from a distance, so if anything gets underneath the bridge with you...you're on your own. Can you handle it?"
Bopper just salutes in return. "Yes sir!"
30 minutes later...
Bopper had managed to cover most of the trench below the bridge in blue blocks, helping keep the metal structure balanced and stable.
The only bit that he couldn't totally cover was at a former pillar near the other end of the bridge, meaning Bopper had to cover that part until all artillery had crossed.
Half of the artillery went through smoothly with no interruptions, leaving his squad to question whether Bopper would get a challenge or not.
When there was 10 cannons left, Bopper began to hear the sounds of air raids in the distance, promoting the moving crews to work faster.
But when 5 remained, the Buzz Bombers turned their attention to the bridge, determined to stop their heavy fire from reaching the rendezvous point.
They blasted one of them, causing a big explosion to ring out on the bridge, knocking soldiers off of it and sending the rubble of support beams down.
Bopper grabbed some debris and hit them like a baseball, launching it into the next wave of Buzz Bombers.
He repeated it with the wave that followed, but his actions wouldn't help with the next obstacle.
Suddenly, Infinite arrived to see the air attacks were barely doing anything to stop the artillery from getting across, with the exception of having lost one to now dodge around and losing a few men to make air resistance.
He flew at the weak spot of the bridge that Bopper was defending, blasting the bear and ramming him through the opening.
A big explosion signaled to the soldiers that now they were out of time...
...the bridge was about to fall.
Infinite flew off after his work was done, with no doubts that he just foiled their attempt at backup.
Bopper got up from the devastating attack, running back to the bridge again to stop the inevitable catastrophe from happening.
The soldiers were practically in terror as them and the remaining 4 cannons were sliding down towards the ground below, about to make the most destructive crash in the war.
But then...they were abruptly stopped by something that pushed the bridge back up, saving them from near death.
They hurried to get the last of the artillery across the bridge, managing to survive the encounter with Infinite.
The squad's second in command went to see what caused their survival, only to be shocked at what he saw.
Bopper had been standing under the damaged part....holding the bridge up by himself despite it weighing tons!
He told Bopper to rest himself since they did it, to which the bear gladly took the order.
1 hour later...
Bopper managed to recover from the tiring mission, getting a drink before walking to the second in command.
He asked him. "Sir, do you know where the captain is?"
The guy shook his head at the question. "No. He was caught in the blast Infinite made. He's....gone now."
Bopper frowns and lowers his head in mourning for the team's loss.
It was a bold victory....but at the cost of a loyal leader.

Hip's narration
I guess you could say I was the bright side of the Resistance, even though I got the bad end of the stick.
I always felt down that I different from everyone else now, but that didn't stop me from trying to make others happy.
My whole personal mission was to keep everyone smiling.
Someone told my dad once, "The best thing any hero can do is give a kid hope that the world hasn't ended yet."
I stood by those words for the whole war, even though I was emotionally broken from losing my limbs.
My best moment came when we were on an evacuation mission to get everyone out of Station Square before any battles broke out there.
The bad news was that it was also a stealth mission since enemy forces had already built up outside the city.
We needed to sneak everyone out without getting caught, or else Eggman would be gaining new prisoners and potential hosts for his robots.
One slip up almost gave us away...
...but I had my own way of fixing it.
————————————————————————
Normal POV
Highway exiting Station Square
Hip was with a few Mobians and humans that were being escorted out of the city alongside his squad.
They were using several stolen troop transports that Eggman would use to carry ground units into battle.
The exterior and interior were safe from scanners that detect organic life...
...but they weren't safe from noise being detected.
The ride was mostly quiet, but then a problem arose when they were getting past the checkpoint.
A little girl was upset that she lost her stuff back at her home since everyone was in a rush to leave.
She tears up and starts to cry from how she's lost everything thanks to Eggman trying to take over.
Hip spots this and knows he had to act fast, or else the bots would hear her and expose the people inside.
He goes over to her takes his bandanna off. "Hey...don't cry, I'm sure we'll get your home back."
The girl sniffs as streams were on her cheeks. "B-But...I want to be home... I miss my dolls and my school."
Hip tells her. "I lost my home a while ago too...but I'm glad I still have the ones I know like my dad. Maybe your friends are with us on the ride too."
The girl seemed to calm a little, but needed a push to see that no more sniffs or cries are heard.
Hip does the best silly faces he could do, changing his eyes and mouth into different looks.
He even banged his head against the wall in a bit of self inflicted slapstick.
The girl giggles at Hip's hilarious actions and managed to get over her loss some.
Hip goes to sit down and sigh in relief, not just happy he saved everyone...
...but that he brought someone happiness in the darkest hours.

Fury's narration
I honestly don't know what you guys think of me, and I don't care.
Out of everyone, I didn't want this war to be added to my list of reasons to be angry at everyone.
But bad news was that nobody cared about me either, so I guess we're even.
I'll leave my best moment up to you to decide on what you think of me.
I was sent on a mission with a squad to rescue prisoners of war from a small facility in Holoska.
It was supposed to be weakly defended from what were told.
We were told wrong.
————————————————————————
Normal POV
Eggman's Fort in Holoska
Kyle was with his squad that was being deployed deep in the snowy tundra, just a few clicks away from their target.
Just when they thought their landing would be smooth, a missile flies right into their airship, sending it crashing down to the snow.
The squad got out with most of them intact, except the captain, who was near the blast when it hit.
They found a few locals nearby who were willing to get the captain's body back home for proper burial.
The squad also had to give the village nearby their second in command who got injured when they crashed.
So there they were, without leadership and no ideas what to do.
They decide to sneak their way to the outside of the base, hoping to find some secret entrance to get inside.
Kyle spots a way into their trash incinerator, which could get them deeper into the base than normal attempts would.
They crawled inside and grappled to the hatch on top of the chamber, getting inside before they could get burned.
Upon getting inside, they were literally face to face with a team of Egg Pawns.
Before any could fire at them, Kyle quickly whips them all in one sweep with his Lightning Wispon, dispatching them into scrap.
The squad hurried down the halls as the alarm went off, signaling all robots to their presence in the building.
All was going mostly well...
...until they found themselves in an intersection with three battalions of robots in the opposing three hallways.
Everyone acted quickly and grappled down sections of the walls, making barriers to protect them from the barrage of shots aimed at them.
Kyle and everyone else who had a close range weapon only fought whenever one robot got too close to them.
Everyone else who had White Wispons constantly kept active in the battle, blasting down anything that moved outside the fortifications.
It was going fine, but then reinforcements arrived...
...with Metal Sonic leading them.
The team then panics as one of the soldiers says, "Open fire on the blue bot!"
Everyone on the squad fires at Metal Sonic with everything they have, but the blue imposter just pulls up it's Black Shield to blocks and deflect shots back at them.
One by one, the squad goes down, either by returned friendly fire or one of bots hitting them.
Kyle and two others remained afterwards, leaving little to do against the odds.
The green wolf tells them in the chaos another action. "Run! We're gonna get fried if we stay here!"
The last of the squad runs away as Metal Sonic closed in on them, running down the right hallway as their position was compromised.
Metal boosts towards them and grabs one of them with his clawed hand, while blasting the other with an energy blast.
The one being choked to death gasped out, "....Run!"
Kyle reached the prison, the only survivor of his squad.
He searched the cells one by one, trying to find anyone still alive there.
Each cell was empty, left absent of it's original occupant.
But then he reached a cell holding a young male elephant Mobian.
The kid looked scared as he was hiding in a corner crying, a sight that tore at Kyle from the inside.
Kyle unlocks the cell and walks inside. "Hey kid...what's your name?"
He sees him and backs away, back hitting the wall. "Stay away!"
The green wolf pulls down the white bandanna he wore. "I'm not with the bad man...I'm from the Resistance."
The kid tilts his head at the name, obviously not used to names like that.
Kyle tells him as he handed him his drink. "I'm on the team that has the hero's friends on it. You know, the friends like the yellow flier, the red idiot and the white glowing guy?"
The elephant asks him. "Which one of his friends are you?"
Kyle shook his head. "I'm no one..."
The elephant Mobian got closer to him after that.
The green wolf asked him. "Where is everyone?"
The kid nervously tells him as best he could. "T-They...were taken away to another place. The mustached man said he had plans....for me."
Kyle now knew why Eggman sent Metal here of all places.
The doctor was trying to create a kind of juggernaut class of robots that would mow down resistance positions, ruining the war into the villain's favor.
At all costs, he had to get the kid out of the base...even if it killed him.
Kyle tells him. "Let's get you back home."
Just before he could leave, a Swat Bot was behind him, forcing him to turn to see the blaster in his face.
The bot calls out. "Halt intruder! Drop your weapons and surrender!"
Kyle tells him. "The only thing dropping....is you!"
In two swift motions, Kyle chopped off it's head and arm cannon, completely damaging it.
Kyle picks up the arm cannon, seeing that it worked still, despite being torn off the metal figure.
He looks at the elephant and tells him. "Stay close to me."
The kid nods and leaves the cell with Kyle, the cold air of the place reminding them what was outside.
Kyle let Tito out of his bag to comfort the kid as they make their escape.
He tells him as they reach the prison exit. "Look away."
The door opens just in time for Metal to be on the other side, not expecting Kyle to be heavily armed.
Right as the door opened, Kyle says, "Dodge this."
He fired a shot right into Metal's core, severely damaging him and sending him into the other bots.
It happened so fast in split seconds that the blue imposter couldn't react quickly enough.
The team makes a run for it down the halls, trying to find a hangar that could house vehicles to use for an escape.
They found it minutes later, but it was filled with Egg Pawns.
Kyle gets himself ready and looks at his Wisp companion Jolt. "Going for a full power shockwave. You ready?"
Jolt nods and zaps into the Wispon, ready to give it everything he's got.
Kyle bursts past the door as time seemed to slow down for him.
The Egg Pawns all charging at him to attack, but were extremely to close to each other in the fight.
Kyle smirks as he throws out the whip. "Bingo! Jolt......zap out......10,000 volts."
He sends out an electrical shock that spreads across all robots, damaging them all internally.
In the next minute, all of them blew up in a chain reaction, leaving parts scattered everywhere.
Kyle signals the kid and Tito to come out as they made their way towards an airship.
They got inside and Kyle drove them off and away from the horrible place.
3 hours later at Mazuri...
Kyle crash lands the ship down to the ground, the fuel drained from the place.
He helps the young elephant out as the smoke pours out of the wreckage.
They walk away from the wreckage in time to see a caravan of Mobian elephants traveling along.
The kid immediately spots some of them in the crowd. "Mommy! Daddy!"
Kyle watches with a smile on his face at the happy reunion that took place, seeing the kid run over to his parents into a big hug.
Kyle looks at a picture he had of his little sister, knowing the promise he made.
"When I'm done saving the rest of the families.....I'm coming for you, sis. I swear it."
