Chapter 7 - Christian's Jealousy
Back in the cave with Chris, Lia, and the stranger, Lia was close to waking up.
"She's warming up." said the stranger.
Lia groaned.
"Are you awake?"
Lia groaned again.
"Still needing more rest. I understand, you lost a lot of strength doing what you did. I still don't understand why you chose to do such a thing."
Chris was giving the stranger his "look".
"You're still staring at me."
"No I'm not." Chris replied.
"You are. Your gaze is as bright as fire."
"That's not, I just-" "A gaze like an alpha." added the stranger.
Chris was confused.
"Something about your eyes. It's like an alpha."
"What do you mean?" Chris asked.
"Are you by chance a wolf?" asked the stranger.
"*sigh* I thought this was past me long ago. No, I'm not, but I've had experiences with werewolves and crazed hybrids before. So if my gaze reminds you of a wolf, then it's because of that." Chris answered.
"I see."
"You're friends with the wolves here aren't you?" Chris asked.
"I am, you seem rather calm about it."
"I've heard rumors about the wolves around here, but like I said, I've befriended many werewolves. So the word wolf doesn't scare me as much as it would a normal human." Chris replied.
"That's good."
Hooooooowl!
A wolf howled from the far side of the forest. The strange man left Lia to see what it meant.
That's when Chris got his chance to help Lia.
"Lia, wake up."
Multiple wolves then howled. This alarmed the stranger extremely.
"No... I thought I had more time."
"What's going on?" Chris asked.
"We need her to wake up." answered the stranger.
"Why? What's wrong?"
"Our alpha is coming. If she finds her here, she'll hurt her!"
"What?!"
The stranger ran over to Lia and tried to wake her up with his body heat.
"Wake up, please."
"What are you doing to her?!" Chris asked.
"She needs more of my body heat!"
"Oh no she doesn't! Hey, let go of her!"
Out in a different cavern, Jianna was locked in a cage over some water, and the werewolf that knocked her out is right behind her.
Jianna woke up, and saw two other cages, and the cloaked werewolf.
"Where am I?... You were the one who knocked me out, aren't you?! You're the one behind this!" she yelled.
"What.. do.. You.. know?" asked the werewolf in a deep voice as if the stranger was wearing a mask.
"As if I would tell you!"
"Hahaha, you will tell me." the werewolf held out her hand and asked again, this time using a spell.
"What are you doing?"
"Now, what do you know?"
"The books and the potions, I-I know they are forever." she answered as her eyes glowed green.
"What?!"
Then, the spell that the werewolf was using wore off, and Jianna's eyes turned back to normal.
"That was a mind alteration spell, but it didn't last long at all. That's why you need potions isn't it?... Your spells themselves aren't strong enough."
"Quiet!"
"Hey, where are you going?! Let me out of here, you jerk! I swear, when my friends find me they will make you pay for kidnapping me!" Jianna yelled.
"Shut up! You're just as mouthy as the one armed Creetling from before!"
"One armed Creetling? Pixle! You! You must've been the one who altered Pixel's memory, aren't you?!"
"Hehehe, my aren't you a smart one. I'll be proud to call you my sister." said the werewolf.
Then Jianna remembered about what Pixle had said before she left the lodge.
"Why are you doing this?! Where are you going?! Stop right now or I'll- I can't my powers are gone. She must've taken them off me when I got knocked out. Darn it! I have no idea what she is planning to do, but if she's managed to alter Pixle's mind, then there's no telling what she can do." Jianna said.
Back with Chris, the stranger, and Lia; Lia was starting to wake up.
"She's waking up." said the stranger.
"Uuuh, Chris?" Lia said.
"You're awake."
"Chris, you feel so warm." Then, when Lia looked over her shoulder, she saw that the wolf man was hugging her.
"Woah! What the- Who are you?" Lia asked, while Chris's eyes were angry red.
"You are so warm, what was that supposed to mean?" Chris asked.
"Chris, you're here!"
"Of course I am, remember?" Chris asked.
"What's going on?" Lia asked.
"I wanted to thank you for before. For what you did in the forest." said the stranger.
"What did you do in the forest, Lia?!" Chris asked.
"I, uh, I have no idea what's going on!" Lia said.
"I didn't know that women could be so kind and gentle." said the stranger.
"What?!"
"I don't know what he's talking about!"
Then Christ threw a rock at Lia. Thankfully she dodged it.
"You better know what he's talking about or I-" Hoooowl!
"Wait what?"
"We need to leave now." said the stranger.
"What? Hey, don't change the subject!" Chris said.
"We have to leave this place, quick!"
"Wait in the snow?! We can't!" Chris said.
"We have no choice! We've waited too long. We'll get to another cave, but if the alpha finds us here, then who knows what she will do! Please, I'll help you both back home, but we have to go!" Then the stranger left the cave.
"Should we follow him?" Chris asked.
"I don't know what's going on, but if an alpha's coming, that means things could get pretty violent. We should go." Lia answered, after putting her jacket back on properly.
"Right, but Lia,"
"Yeah?"
"You're going to tell me about what happened between you two when this is over!"
"Chris nothing happened! I don't even know him!"
"Are you two coming? Hurry!" said the stranger.
"We'll talk later." Chris said.
"I don't even- Augh!"
They ran through the forest and found another cave that seemed very familiar to them.
"Quick, in here. Hurry."
"Where are we?" asked Chris.
"It's a cave system. If we follow the right paths, we should be able to make it back to your home." the stranger answered.
"Wait how do you know?" asked Chris.
"We used these caves a lot. Come, this way."
"I don't know if we should trust him." Lia whispered.
"Well apparently you trusted him in the woods." replied Chris.
"Ugh! What did I do?!"
Moments later...
"Down this way."
While they were traveling through the cave Lia was getting a little tuckered out.
"Lia are you okay?" Chris asked.
"I'm just so tired, exhausted, and hungry."
"We're almost there. Come on, I'll walk with you. Uh oh. Where'd he go?!" Chris asked.
Lia tried to pick up the stranger's scent but she couldn't find it.
"I-I don't know."
"Let's try this way." Chris said pointing to the left.
As they went through the tunnel, the cave began to change.
"Wow, it's an underground cavern." Chris said.
"This is crazy! How is this even here?!" Lia asked.
"Lia, what's going on?" Chris asked.
"Help! Please! Someone!"
It was Jianna! They were in the same cavern that the werewolf trapped her in.
"Jianna?!"
They ran down closer to her.
"Christmas, Lia?! Is it really you?!" Jianna asked.
"Yes! It's us! Is it you?" Chris asked.
"Of course! How did you guys get here?" Jianna asked.
"We should be asking you that! How did you end up in here?!" Chris asked.
"It's a long story, just know that we're in danger." Jianna answered.
"Wait what are you talking about?" asked Lia.
"Look, I don't know what exactly is going on, but someone is down here and they're doing something terrible." Jianna answered.
"Like what?" Chris asked.
"I don't know what they're up to, but they're making potions that last forever." Jianna answered.
"What?! That is impossible!" Chris yelled.
"No, Christian, it is."
"No, i-i-it's not! I learned in high school, that permanent potions aren't a possibility!"
"Christian, I'm a witch! I've been studying this for years! Trust me, these kinds of potions do exist, and they're dangerous!"
"How?"
"They're part of a class of forbidden spells and potion. I don't know the real name for them, but my mom called them forever potions, and were supposed to have gone out of circulation more than a hundred years ago. I have no idea how this person is managing to make them, but they have! And they used a potion on Pixle!"
"Pixle?! But I thought Creetlings couldn't get spelled themselves!" Chris said.
Then, they heard something coming from the cavern exit.
"What was that?" Lia asked.
"She's coming back. Quick, you both need to go!" Jianna yelled.
"No! No way, we aren't leaving you!" Lia yelled.
"You need to!"
"Lia, quick help me find a way to get her out!" Chris yelled.
"I could jump and maybe try to-" the werewolf was getting closer.
"No time! No time! You both need to get out of here, and figure out what's going on! Go now! Whoever this person is, is dangerous!"
"Jianna!"
"We're not gonna leave you!" Lia yelled.
"Please, if you both get caught, we're doomed. Lia if this person had you under her control, who knows what they would try to do!" Jianna yelled.
Lia had trusted Jianna with a secret of hers for years. Jianna knew that Lia had developed more magic in the last few years, enough to match up with the magic of a Fallen Creetling, which though isn't the strongest creetling, it is still very powerful.
"Jianna!"
"Just go!"
"She's right." Lia said.
"We'll be back for you!" Chris said.
"Just remember this: whoever's doing this, isn't a wizard or a witch. This person's spells aren't powerful. This person is new to this. There's no way they know a lot about these potions. You guys have the upper hand." Jianna said.
"Jianna?"
"Now go!"
Lia and Chris ran off, and came across a familiar place.
"Jianna."
"She'll be fine. She's a strong woman." Lia said.
"I know but if anything happens to her-" "But she was right. We need to get out of here if we're gonna help." Lia said.
"Yes, but-" "Wait, I recognize this place. We were here before... This way!"
They went through the tunnel and came to the hidden entrance.
"J-Jianna."
"Chris, we'll get her back, I promise."
"She said that Pixle was affected by the potion. If that's true then what does she know?" Chris asked.
"We should try to talk to her." Lia said.
"Yeah, let's go."
They went downstairs and tried to find Pixel.
