Chapter 3 - Finding Pixle
At the Lodge, Lia was having a nightmare. She would commonly get these nightmares as a vision of warning. She had a fear of losing her friends, which triggered these visions frequently.
"No. Just let us go. No!"
"Lia, what's wrong?" Jianna asked.
"Nothing. Sorry guys I didn't mean to wake you or anything." Lia answered.
"By the looks of your eyes, it looks like you were experiencing another one of your nightmares." Skellington said.
"What do you mean Skellington?" Belle asked.
"Belle, just look at them. They're darkened and look as if they were gonna turn red almost. Lia, how long have you been like this?" Jianna asked.
"I've been like this since I got a prosthetic arm. It was as if when I got adopted by ghosts, I started developing new abilities, but I don't want to talk about it." Lia answered.
"So you're saying that your eyes have been changing since William Afton tried to kill you?" Skellington asked.
"Partially, but not completely. Hey, Belle. Can you not stare at me?" Lia asked.
"You can't blame her, Lia. It does seem a little strange to wake up one morning and find out that your best friend has the eyes of an owl every time she has a nightmare." Jianna said.
"It wasn't because of the nightmare, because I'm used to nightmares. I'm just not used to sleeping during the night." Lia replied.
"Well maybe you should cover them up." Belle said.
"Okay." Lia went into her suitcase, pulled out a red bandanna, and covered her eyes with it. The bandanna was given to her by Chris.
"Alright guys, I'm thinking we should get to knowing this place a little bit more." Skellington said.
"Well, this place is huge, but I don't want anybody getting lost." Jianna said.
"I agree. We don't want anyone... Well, you know. Let's get to work." They started looking around and found a few rooms that seemed like someone was recently there.
Back with Pixle and Chris, they were driving through a forest while playing Eye Spy. Well, at least Pixle was. She had gotten bored on the drive so she wanted to play the game to pass the time.
"Eye spy with my little eye something that begins with s." Pixle said.
"Snow."
"Darn it! How did you know?!"
"Gee I don't know. Maybe because it's the only thing we've seen for the past five miles!"
"Okay okay. Squirrel!"
"Pixle, are you trying to make us crash into a tree?!"
"Sorry Chris, but there was a squirrel. And I didn't want you to hit it." she answered.
For five minutes they did nothing but keep an eye out for the log hotel.
"What?"
"I'm just a little worried for Lia. She doesn't know everything about the outside world and she's been like a little sister to me. Chris, you don't know how important she is. She's the only person that survived Afton's attack." she said.
"Hey, she's going to be fine. She's stronger than she looks, just like you. Honestly I didn't think you'd actually survive losing your arm and a fire at the same time." Chris said.
He made Pixle laugh.
Back at the lodge, Lia came across an old room that reminded her of her childhood.
"This place seems familiar... My family stayed in this room when I was little." she said.
Then, she heard someone coming into the room.
"Who's there?!Oh, Jianna. I thought you were somebody else for a second there." she said.
"Well I'm not. Are you okay, Lia? You've been acting weird since we woke up." Jianna said.
"Well, remember how Skellington said I looked like I just had a nightmare?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, my nightmare actually was having you, Pixle, and Chris under a type of spell and attacking us. So far most of my dreams have been coming true."
"But what if a nightmare comes true?" Jianna asked.
"The Nightmare tribe will use it for strength, and possibly either help us or destroy the world as we know it." Lia answered.
Then they heard a car pulling up outside.
"It's Chris!"
They ran outside and greeted them.
"Chris!"
"Lia! Oh I'm glad that you're safe. Where's everyone else?"
"Oh they're inside." Jianna answered.
"They're not hurt are they?" Pixle asked.
"No they're perfectly fine. Skellington was a little shaken up when the furnace exploded, but other than that we're fine." Lia answered.
"See I told you everyone was okay." Chris said.
"Well, what are they doing right now?" Pixle asked, after rolling her eyes.
"They're exploring the Lodge."
"AAAAAAAAAAHH!"
"That sounded like Skellington." They rushed inside, and saw Skellington staring at an old animatronic that looked like a greenish gold rabbit, but it was withered and torn.
"We should send this to Afton. He'll know what to do with it." Lia said.
"I think we should send it to Henry, you know Pixle's stepped dad. It looks a lot like that picture you showed us a month ago." Skellington said.
"I think you're right, Skellington, but it's a whole lot older than I remember. Plus the picture I showed you was when we were working on it."
"Did you ever finish it?" Skellington asked.
"We did, and we sent it to a place to entertain people. But then that place shut down and we couldn't find the animatronics." Pixle answered.
"Skellington, are you okay?" Belle asked.
"I'm fine, but I don't think I'll be able to sleep after seeing that thing." he answered.
"I'll get this to Henry. And I'll let him know that it was here the entire time." Pixle said.
"But how are you going to do that, Pixle? You're not strong enough to carry it, and we are not putting it in my mom's car." Chris said.
"Good point, and we can't call Henry either. The phones are out." Lia said.
"Greaat, and I can't teleport it or control the shadows to move it, but if I put it on I could fly out of here and get it to Henry." Pixle said, putting it on.
"Well I don't know about you guys, but I remember specifically Mr. Afton said to not wear it while flying. He said it's skeleton would crush you to death if the spring locks become too loose." Lia said.
"Didn't you say you live with things like that?" Chris asked.
"Yes, but I've been living with you for the past few years. And Pixle, it's best that we just wait till we get the phones working so we can call Henry." Lia answered.
They did their best to not think about the animatronic, but Lia just couldn't. She knew something wasn't right, but she didn't know what.
For the past few days, after going to a nearby town for supplies, the place was actually looking pretty good. The strange animatronic still scared Skellington a few times.
"Why do I have this weird feeling that that animatronic is going to be moving around eventually?"
"Skellington, you used to live in a world full of monsters, and you're scared of an old robot?!" Lia replied.
"Lia, we've only known each other for so long, but long enough to know that I get scared only when something unexpected happens."
Just then, Chris walked into the room. "Hi guys."
"AAAAAHH!"
"I can see that. What's up Chris?"
"Nothing much except that Pixle's missing. She just disappeared. Jianna already looked outside, and she couldn't find her." Chris answered.
"Guys I think you should check this out." They followed Jianna and saw that the animatronic was gone and that there was a hidden door in the wall.
"A secret passageway. This makes total sense. No wonder they couldn't find it! The animatronic must've been moved here for safe keeping, but they should've been told about where it was moved." Chris said.
"Quick question, do you two know if the armor and the being wearing it have the same names or do they still have separate names?" Skellington asked.
"No. When the entire armor is put on, the wearer and the armor are both known as Springtrap, but when they are separated, the armor is known as Scraptrap and the wearer goes by his average name." Lia answered.
"Enough chit chat. We need to find that animatronic and Pixle. Who knows what happened to them." Jianna said.
They entered the cave, and saw an old mine full of green gemstones. After a few minutes of exploring the cave, Belle noticed that Lia was starting to slow down.
"Hey guys. I think something's wrong with Lia." Belle said.
Lia was running out of breath. She was tired and was getting cold. She isn't used to being outside, and she's usually not in the cold.
"I'm fine guys. I just get exhausted quicker than you." Lia said.
"Really?"
"Skellington, I've been through car and bike collisions. I've been through so many tragedies that my legs don't work the way they used to."
"Then why did you come all the way out here?" Belle asked.
"It's because Afton said he wanted to do something to help his friends and family, and the only way he could do that was if he had me fix up an old building." she answered.
Lia was okay, but everyone had a strange feeling about what's going on with her. As they were looking around they came across a fork in the road.
"How 'bout we go down the path on the left." Lia said.
"And what makes you so sure that Pixle's down there. Why don't we just go this way." Jianna said.
"I just got a feeling."
"A feeling? You're basing the life of our friend on a feeling?!"
"Jianna, I know she went down this path. I can feel it."
"Well I'm going this way. If anyone wants to die go with Lia. She puts everything on strange feelings." she said.
"You know what, fine! I'll just go this way, 'cause I know I'm right." They went down their own paths, and in an angrily way.
"How about you guys go with Jianna, and I'll be with Lia." Chris said.
Minutes later, Chris caught up with Lia.
"So, Lia, what made you so sure about Pixle going down this path?" Chris asked.
"Your jacket. You gave Pixle your spare jacket, and I could smell her on this pathway." she answered.
"You're right. The smell's faint, but it's still strong enough to help us track her." Chris replied.
On the other end of the cave, Jianna, Belle, and Skellington found a potion room. It was filled with old potions, spell books, and cauldrons.
"This place is amazing, but look at these potions. They're not even finished, or even close to getting started. Shattered bottles and spider webs obviously means that this place hasn't been used in a long time." Jianna said.
"Hey guys I think I found something that could help us." Skellington said.
"That's Pixle's pendant. If her pendant is here then where's the rest of her?" Belle asked.
"I don't know, but something tells me that he was brought in here for some type of experiment." Jianna answered.
"That's possibly true, and Pixle said that she would never take off the pendant unless necessary." Skellington said.
"Why's that?"
"I don't know. Mom and dad said that it was all she had left of her birth family, and she doesn't want to lose it so she wears it all the time." he answered.
They left the potion room, and later met up with Lia and Chris. But before they did, Lia and Chris found a medical room on their side.
"You'd think they'd try to clean the place up a bit." Chris said.
"It's a cave, Chris. Things are going to be dusty." Lia replied.
Chris went ahead and decided to meet up with the others.
"Pixle, I'm so glad you're safe." Skellington said, hugging Chris.
"Skellington, let go of me!" Chris yelled.
"Skellington, you're hugging Chris!" Lia yelled.
"Oh. Sorry Chris. The fact that you both have somewhat long hair and are wearing the same jacket throws me off,"
"Don't ever do that again!" Chris yelled.
"Chris, calm down. We just need to get back and hopefully we can find some more clues." Lia said.
"Hey guys, I think I found the exit to the cave." Belle said.
"Well that settles it. Who ever has access to this cave can easily get into the Lodge without any of us knowing." Jianna said.
"We better head back and seal the entrance then." Belle said.
They all started to head back to the lodge, but something caught Lia's attention in the distance. Before Lia went with the others, she saw a wolf pup with an injured leg, and was left alone. She couldn't get over this feeling inside her, so she went over to try to help the pup.
"Easy little guy. I'm not going to hurt you."
Lia then pulled out a small first aid kit she brought with her for emergencies. The pup though had gotten defensive, not sure if it can trust Lia at all.
"It's just a first aid kit, buddy. It's not gonna hurt you." Lia set down the first aid kit and started to patch up the wolf pup's leg.
"It's covered up, but it's still bleeding... I got an idea. Now hold still little guy."
Lia ripped off part of her coat's sleeve, and used it to to wrap the wound around the wolf pup's leg and managed to stop it from bleeding.
"There you go little guy. Now go home. Your family is probably worried about you." And the wolf pup went off into the forest.
Then, Lia went back to the cave and caught up with the others.
