Chapter 7 Rescued
Previously on Secret of Atlas...
"I heard that the king..."
Now...
"the king is going to execute Atlas," said one of the night guards. I froze at the moment and knowing that I can't stop it. I close my eyes thinking of what lead up to this moment.
"What did I do wrong?" I asked myself. I looked at the stars, knowing that this might me my last. An hour passed, I hear footsteps coming towards me. I looked towards the sound.
"Atlas?" I heard a whisper.
"Who's there?" I asked.
"Griffin," Griffin stated.
"Why are you here?" I said, sitting up slowly.
"I wanted to talk to you," He said, unlocking the door.
"About what?" I said.
"How to get you out?" He said, sitting on the hard bed.
"No," I said, pushing him off the bed.
"What do you mean no?" he said, getting back on the bed.
"I mean no," I said, curling up in a ball.
"But Atlas," Griffin said, moving closer to me.
"I got you in enough trouble. I don't want you in any more," I said, holding back my tears of pain.
~Griffin~
"Atlas, I don't want to leave you in this. I want to save you," I cried, knowing if I don't he'll end up dead.
"You'll live. That all that matter," He said, shivering.
"I can't let you die. Not because of this petty thing," I said, moving closer to him, "You're freezing," I said, taking off my jacket and laying it over Atlas's slim body frame.
"I'll be fine, Griffin. Just go," He said, curling in my jacket.
"No, you won't. Not with that fever," I said, trying to move closer to him. He push me back.
"Then let me die," He said, trying to make himself more confrontable.
"I can't... I won't..." I sniffled.
" There is nothing you can do for me," Atlas said.
"Yes, there is," I said, with new determination.
"What are you doing?" He asked. I picked up Atlas and stared to carry him out of the dungeon.
"Griffin, put me down," He said. I shook my head and continued on to my chambers.
"No," I said, putting him back into my bed.
"Why?"
"Like I said. I don't want to lose you,"
" Why? I'm just a servant," Atlas said.
"You're not just a servant. You are a friend," I said, pulling Atlas closer to me.
"You really think so," he replied. I nodded, pushing him down on the bed.
"Rest, Atlas," I said. Atlas closed his eyes. I watched his breathing slow down. I took off my boots and laid next to him.
The next morning, I heard a knock on my chamber's door.
"Enter," I said, tiredly.
"Sire, the king wants to speak with you," the servant said quickly.
"Alright," I said, dismissing the servant. The servant bowed and left the chamber. I walked to the drawers. I picked out an outfit got change and head down to the dinning hall, "Father, you wanted to see me?"
"Yes, tell me. Where did you hide him?" He asked. I know who he was talking about.
"I don't know what you are talking about?" I said, acting innocently.
"I know you helped him escape," My father yelled, raising from his chair.
"I did no such thing," I yelled back. My father walked closer to me. He raised his hand and smacked me across the face. I did not flinch. I have to protect Atlas. My father grabbed my arm and started to pull me out of the dinning hall. I did not resist for knowing if I did my punishment would be worst .
"You'll tell me where he is," he demanded. I shook my head. I heard a knock on my father's chamber's door.
"Lady Liza," I chocked.
"I know where Atlas is," She said. I glared at her know she is not a person you want to cross.
"Where?" The king asked.
"In Griffin's chambers," She said.
"Liza, why?" I asked. She shrugged.
"I will deal with you later," the king said, walking out of his chamber. Griffin fell to the floor.
"Why Liza?" I asked.
"Because, I want you to fell the same pain as me," She said walking out of the room.
~Atlas~
I got a bad feeling. I got off the bed and went to find a place to hide. I walked slowly to Griffin's wardrobe and locked it with a spell. The knight walked into the chamber along with the king. I covered my mouth trying to stay quiet.
"Find him," the king ordered. I should give myself up.
"You can't young warlock," I heard a voice inside my head. I shook it out of my head, " You got to protect the prince," It said again.
"Sire, he's not here," Bade said, to the king.
"Search the lower town, Find him," the king said, walking out of the chamber. I heard some else enter the room, crying.
"Damn it," He said. I opened the wardrobe and peeked my head out. I saw it was Griffin. I walked up to him slowly watching his movement, "Failed," He said.
"Failed what?" I asked, standing in front of him.
"Atlas!" He said, pulling me in an embrace.
"Yeah, who else?" I mockingly. He smiled pulled me closer, " Griffin, can you let go now,"
"No," He said. "
"Griffin, you have to let go before someone find us. Well, mostly me," I said, trying to push him away.
"Atlas, I don't care. I will protect you," Griffin said, pulling me pack into his embrace.
"Griffin, please," I pleaded.
"Where will you go, Atlas?" Griffin asked. I was holding back some tears.
"Don't worry. I'll be back when your king," I said, pushing him away. Griffin slowly lets go of me.
"I don't want you to go, Atlas,"
"We don't have a choice," I said slipping on a black cloak and walking out of his chamber.
