Chapter 6: The Dark of Moria
We hid in the bushes as the birds streamed past. As we all emerged, I spat some black hair(mine) out of my mouth. I've never really described myself so here I go:
I have hair as black as a moonless night, eyes of green grass, and skin as white as milk. I have fair features, and I'm tall for 11.
So anyway, Gandalf told us we were taking some pass in the mountains. Goody.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We trudged up the mountain side. Suddenly Frodo tripped. Aragorn caught him, but the ring was ripped from it's hiding place.
Boromir picked it up. My hand went to my knife.
I called, "Boromir!" Just as Aragorn did. Boromir didn't hear us.
"It is such a strange fate that we should suffer so much because of so small a thing. Such a little thing..."
"Boromir!" Aragorn shouted. "Give the ring to Frodo." I turned and kept walking. We were entering a mountain past.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was so cold on the pass, but at least I'm above the snow. Only Legolas and I are elves and can glide on the frost.
Legolas shouted, "There is a fell voice on the air!"
Gandalf cried, "It's Saruman!"
Aragorn was the cheeriest of all."He's trying to bring down the mountain!" A crack slit the air and rocks and snow rained down from above and buried every one.
I dove for the hobbits and pulled up Merry. I cradled him in my arms, trying to warm him.
Boromir was desperate." Gandalf, we must turn back! This will be the death of the hobbits!"
Gimli roared ,"Let us go through the Mines of Moria.
I was aghast. Why Gimli would mention it now...
Gandalf really put Frodo on the spot. "Let the ring bearer decide".
Frodo was confused and choose the mines of Moria.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We stood outside the door to Moria. I could sense the stone, but no one else could.
"It's here." I insisted, but only Gandalf believed me half way. The moon poked her head out and the door was exactly were I had pointed.
I smirked and turned to the door on it read, "The doors to Moria. Speak, friend, and enter." (This I read out loud)
Gandalf muttered,"I once knew all the spells in the tongues of Men and Elves."
Pippen asked,"How do we open the door?"
Gandalf huffed. "Knock you head against them Peregrine Took, and if that does not shatter them, I do not know what will!"
Pippen looked hurt and I walked over and ruffled his hair. "Gandalf is frustrated." I whispered. Pippen nodded.
Suddenly Frodo shouted, "It's a riddle! What's the elvish word for friend?"
"Mellon." Gandalf and I shouted. The doors swung open with a crumble and we all plunged into the dark of Moria.
