Wei Wuxian stood in front of Lan Wangji's penthouse apartment and wondered whether he should just enter or knock first. He didn't know if Lan Wangji was inside and he surely didn't want him to know that his passcode sucked.

He sighed, then knocked the door.

No answer.

Then his phone beeped, signaling a message.

He took his phone and glanced at the screen to find it from Jingyi, the passcode to the penthouse and to tell him to go straight inside.

He sighed once more and entered the passcode.

The door opened smoothly and he went inside and closed the door behind him. The apartment was pitch black, only highlighted by the moonlight from between the curtains, and he could not see anything clearly, just the silhouette of things. But he knew his way anyway, so it didn't really bother him.

Suddenly, he felt a sudden chill of murderous intention and his instinct took over. He threw his backpack, lowered his body and unsheathed his knife from his lower back and ready to face his opponent.

There was a stillness that felt uneasy, the killing intent so heavy and Wei Wuxian involuntarily shivered. He wondered if this was a trap for Lan Wangji or by Lan Wangji, but either way, he had to survive first before he could ask the question to the person he was supposed to protect.

Then he heard it.

The inhuman breathing.

Wei Wuxian acted in pure instinct and barely dodged the attack of the huge beast.

It still scratched his jacket though, and he cursed silently because it was his favorite jacket.

Then he turned around to see what kind of an animal who had that size but could move so swiftly and he widened his eyes in shock and awe.

It was a fucking white tiger.

Its body was huge and buffed, and the fur was so clean and shiny, Wei Wuxian doubted that this was an animal from the wilderness.

But it was still a huge freaking tiger and he only had a knife.

And it snarled at him, showing him his long and scary fangs and it was crouching down, readied to attack.

Wei Wuxian tried to remember the layout of the apartment and decided that the balcony was probably the best option for him to go and find something to defend himself with. If all else failed he could jump to the balcony of the apartment under this one like he did last time. He counted to three and ran to the balcony door.

He opened it quickly and jumped out only to hear a loud thud of heavy footsteps from the beast that followed him. He tried to stay calm, but the beast was right behind him.

The next thing he knew, he was slammed down on the floor and the beast face was merely an inch from his own.

He could not move at all since the beast was practically on top of him, all 200 kilograms of pure muscles, and the sharp teeth were right on display in front of his face.

He could feel the saliva of the beast dropping down his face and the last thought he had was that too bad Lan Wangji was not here, he should be ecstatic to see his mortal enemy was being devoured by a beautiful monster.

Hope you choked on my bones, missy.

"Have you done playing?"

Wei Wuxian was snapped out of his reverie by the familiar voice and he looked up to see the handsome face of Lan Wangji. So beautiful but cold, like a carved jade.

"What do you mean playing? Can't you see that I'm almost being devoured by this monster?"

"I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to her."

Lan Wangji snapped his fingers and the tiger moved away from Wei Wuxian and now purred under Lan Wangji's caress.

"Are you okay, Xiao Bai? You're not hurting anywhere? I'm going to buy you the highest grade kobe beef later, no more eating humans, he's not hygienic." Lan Wangji tsk tsk-ed the tiger.

The white tiger named Xiao Bai, apparently was Lan Wangji's fucking pet.

Wei Wuxian was trying to get up and clean the slobbering mess from him and trying to process the whole thing when he came to a conclusion that Lan Wangji did all of that on purpose.

"You're so childish." Wei Wuxian wiped the drool off his face. "And your pet ruined my jacket."

"You should be grateful I didn't cuff you first and served your bloody heart on a silver plate."

Wei Wuxian sneered and put up his hands in surrender.

"Fine, fine, I'm sorry, I truly am, I guess it's no use to say that it wasn't me since you're so hellbent on proving it." He walked to the couch and sat down. "And since you already have a perfect bodyguard, why do you need me?"

Lan Wangji was looking at Wei Wuxian with his trademark indecipherable look on his face.

"I still have a lot more questions for you."

"I bet you do."

"But now we have to get back to shooting location."

"I'm on your beck and call, Your Highness."

"Yes you are. So clean yourself and go fetch the car. I'll be down in a minute." Lan Wangji stood up and walked inside the apartment, followed closely by Xiao Bai.

At the last step before he reached the door, he turned back to Wei Wuxian.

"The reason why I need you is because I can't bring Xiao Bai anywhere. It's not safe."

Then he disappeared inside.

Not safe for Xiao Bai or not safe for the people around?

The mind of rich and powerful people sometimes boggled him out.
