Lan Wangji could barely walk even with the help of Jingyi and Wen Yuan and he was in a great deal of pain, but he did not show any expressions on his face. His beautiful face was cold as ice but his golden eyes were dimmed, unlike his usual piercing glance. He knew that by the time the engagement was over, he had to move into the Jins' mansion and it was the same as being a prisoner. He knew that his brother's movement would be restrained with him becoming a hostage, so he decided that he would end this right with the ceremony. He had no regrets and hopefully, wherever he went, he would be able to meet Xiao Hei and Wei Wuxian.

After he made that decision, he felt at peace.

They gave him another dose of the antidote and told him that the antidotes were only effective for twenty four hours. So he had to take it every day without fail. If he missed even for a second, his body would start to rot right away. That was when he knew that those were not antidotes but another poison and it only made him become more resolute in his decision.

The Jins and the Wens were going to die today.

And so did he, but it didn't really matter as their problems were also going to end.

He planned to detonate his dragon core, where there was a lot of mana stored inside. He was sure that when it blew up, it would take all those vermin with him. All he needed to do now was warn his family to be as far away as possible from him, especially Jingyi–who would not even let him alone ever since he entered the Jins' mansion.

"Jingyi, I–" he started to talk but Jingyi cut his words.

"Don't even think about it." Jingyi looked very angry. "I believe in Wei Wuxian, and so should you. This… act of an unselfish hero is not becoming you, uncle." He gritted his teeth while he spoke with a low voice.

Lan Wangji was surprised because Jingyi seemed to be able to read his mind.

"How…?"

"I worked for you for more than a decade, and I am your fucking nephew. I know what you're thinking just by the change of the air around you. I guess being a stalker has its merits." Jingyi squeezed Lan Wangji's arm. "I believe in Wei Wuxian, I believe that he would save the day. I believe Xiao Hei is fine and dandy and he's with Wei Wuxian right now, so, stop thinking about whatever you were thinking just now, and have hope."

Lan Wangji paused for a second then he smiled–the first time since Wei Wuxian and Xiao Hei disappeared.

"I guess you know me better than I know myself then, Jingyi." Lan Wangji squeezed his arm back. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it."

They continued their walk to the temple, where Lan Wangji and Qin Su would be blessed and bound by the priest, which would tie them together for the rest of their life. And it was a very long time since they had lived for thousands of years and would continue to live for another thousands of years.

Lan Xichen looked at his brother with misery clearly etched in his eyes. He hated that he had to be here and play nice with the Jins and the Wens, but he hated himself more for not being able to protect his brother. Thank god for Nie Mingjue who sat by his side and squeezed his arms to give him strength.

"Thanks for being here, Ming. I don't know how I will be able to face this all if I was alone." He squeezed his hand back.

"You're welcome. Although I'm here mostly to hold you back from turning into a dragon and burning everything in the vicinity." Nie Mingjue tried to lighten up the situation although he knew it was of no use since Lan Xichen's face darkened.

"I'm really a useless brother, huh?" He chuckled bitterly. "I couldn't even protect my brother back then, and even now. Sometimes I wonder if I'm really fit to be the head of the family."

Thankfully before Nie Mingjue could give him any response, Jin Guangshan started to speak into the mic, a sign that the engagement ceremony was about to begin, and with that, Lan Wangji's shackles would be put on forever.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to this happy day for our family and the esteemed Lan's family. We gathered here to celebrate the union of my daughter–Qin Su–with her long time lover, Lan Wangji, the second Young Master of the Dragon Lan's family." Jin Guangshan gestured to Qin Su to come near and she obeyed him. She walked to her father's side, wearing a bright red qipao with a majestic golden phoenix embroidery made from real golden thread, and that alone cost more than a year of a third world country's salary.

And that aroused suspicion in Lan Xichen's mind. That dress, and the guests, exceeded the expectation of a normal engagement party. It was more like a…

"Wedding." Lan Xichen whispered in disbelief as he watched his brother come out from the back, also wearing a red traditional chinese dress embroidered with a golden dragon. "This is not an engagement party, this is a fucking wedding!" Lan Xichen hissed as he tried to stand up and to do something–anything. "How dare fucking Jin Guangshan changed the plan, or maybe this was their plan after all."

After a formal wedding, both of the clans would be merged into one, unlike the engagement, in which only the groom–or the bride–would be taken into the other's family.

"This is a fucking coup!" Lan Xichen stood up to approach Jin Guangshan and Nie Mingjue was too late to gold on to him, as he marched into the front. But before he could take a further step into the stage, where Lan Wangji, Qin Su and Jin Guangshan were standing side by side like a happy family, he heard a loud crash outside the building and all eyes were looking out to see what was going on.
