The sickening crunch of bones being gnawed was intensified when Xue Yang also morphed into the wolf with snow white fur. 

An arctic wolf. 

That's why he despised the heat.

Wei Wuxian was wondering about his life until now–the artifacts that he was told to find, the stuff that the Wens told him–it all meant nothing compared to the scene in front of him right now. He was too scared to move, although he knew that they were his… friends. And apparently Xiao Hei could feel his distress, since he touched Wei Wuxian softly and looked straight at him with his silver eyes.

"Gege, you don't have to worry, no one wouldn't dare to lay a finger on you. You're my person after all." He smiled so sweetly, and it lightened his mood a little. "And you have my amulet. Trust me it would protect you from harm." Xiao Hei caressed the amulet on Wei Wuxian's neck. Wei Wuxian squeezed Xiao Hei's hand and forced out a smile.

"Nice to know that, Xiao Hei." Although he didn't understand why Xiao Hei treated him like this ever since they met. Sure he felt some kind of a tug in his heart whenever he met Xiao Hei, even when he was an ugly old crow with a wound on his leg, but he chalked that to the boy's cute appearance, nothing else. Although, to think of it, Xiao Bai was also cute… 

It didn't take long for Xiao Bai and Xue Yang to finish their… feast, and afterwards they just tossed the remaining bones on the piles of fake bones on the side and they turned back into their human forms. Xiao Bai turned into a young woman in her twenties with her silver hair though, not the little girl she was, and she's… naked. Xue Yang too, since their clothes were destroyed when they morphed.

"Uhm… you got something on your teeth." Wei Wuxian pointed to Xiao Bai's bloody mouth, and she wiped it with her hand then grinned.

"Gege, were you surprised?" Her voice was like a siren, and Wei Wuxian closed Xiao Hei's eyes, making him giggle. Wei Wuxian did not know how to respond, when Wen Qing appeared with a long cloth and covered Xiao Bai with it. She then tossed another cloth to Xue Yang.

"I think it's time for us to go home, you reckon?"

From behind the shadow, a figure loomed over them, completely hiding his presence. He saw everything that happened, and didn't even flinch when the girl and the wolf ate his subordinates, they were only bait after all. He already got what he came here for. 

He then quickly called his boss and told him about the present situation, when his boss gave him the order.

"Get the amulet, whatever it costs."

He confirmed his order and signaled another of his subordinates, a lightning ape with sticky hands, to get the amulet from Wei Wuxian, whatever it took. The ape nodded, and he moved with a speed of lighting, toward the direction of the exit where those people were heading.

Wei Wuxian still could not wrap himself around the idea of shapeshifting she-tiger, especially when she turned into a silver-haired naked siren who walked in front of him without any care in the world. She asked Wen Qing to buy her and Xue Yang an ice cream cone to wash out the taste of blood in their mouth. Wen Qing sighed, and Wei Wuxian offered himself to go, leaving Wen Qing to take care of the naked people. 

Wei Wuxian walked to the ice cream place with Wen Yuan and Jingyi, taking Xiao Hei with him. But unknown to him, the lightning ape was stealthily tracking his movement and when he saw Wei Wuxian take his wallet to pay, he quickly jumped down and tried to snatch the amulet away. Wei Wuxian, being a trained agent, dodged the ape-like movement from the man who jumped down from the tree and took out his gun. The man smirked and took out his gun too, while the people around them screamed and ran away toward their opposite direction. It was total chaos around them.

"Jingyi, take Xiao Hei back to the others. Wen Yuan, go with Jingyi." Wei Wuxian calmly ordered the two young adults, and gave Xiao Hei to Jingyi, who nodded and took the little boy with him.

"Gege…" Xiao Hei clutched his shirt tight, his eyes were full of worry.

"Don't worry, Xiao Hei, I'll be fine. I'll meet you soon, okay?" He ruffled the little boy's hair and Jingyi quickly moved away. "You too, Yuan." He spoke to the boy who observed him with curiosity.

"No, I'll stay with you." He stood near Wei Wuxian.

The attacker looked at them with a smirk on his face, and he pointed the gun toward Wei Wuxian and cocked it, ignoring Wen Yuan.

"Just give me the amulet and I'll let you go. All of you."

"Who sent you?" Wei Wuxian ignored his request and cocked his own gun.

He just smirked and shot at Wei Wuxian, which the latter dodged and shot back. Then the strange man moved fast to approach Wei Wuxian and started to shoot him, when Wen Yuan appeared in front of them. Strangely, instead of hurting the young man, he preferred to move back and then he looked at Wen Yuan, and Wei Wuxian, then back to Wen Yuan again.

"I'll let you go this time, see you soon!" He cackled and jumped on the nearest tree and before Wei Wuxian could shoot, he disappeared. He then turned to face Wen Yuan and checked him.

"Wen Yuan, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Ge." He smiled as he looked at the disappearing villain, his face remained impassive. And before Wei Wuxian could ask him more, the others came in a hurry. Wen Qing quickly snatched both of them and ushered them away into the dark SUV.

"My car…" Wei Wuxian started to complain when Wen Qing shushed him.

"Gimme the key and I'll arrange for someone to take it back to the house."

"Actually, I have to go back to my place too." Wen Yuan pointed at the dark SUV with his bodyguard inside.

"Text me later, okay?" Wei Wuxian fistbumped him and gave him a hug.

"I will, Ge." He gave Wei Wuxian a hug and then he went with his bodyguards.
