The moment he stepped into the private room, he paused. He was not suspecting that Wen Yuan would take Jinling with him. But then again they were childhood friends, so it was to be expected.

But he saw that the Lan brat and one other unknown brat were also there.

It was like he was going to babysit a bunch of hormonal teenagers.

Wei Wuxian sighed.

"What are you doing here Mr. Policeman Wei?"

Of course the Jingyi brat was the one who talked to him. 

He didn't know about the relationship between the heir or the Jin, who was his sister's kid, the heir of the Wen, who was his employee's kid, and him, a mere suspicious policeman.

"Jingyi, nice to see you too." He grabbed a chair and opened the beer bottle. He was in dire need for alcohol.

"Oh, you knew Jingyi, Xian-gege?" Wen Yuan tilted his head while the brat Jinling only harrumphed.

"Yes, we were… acquainted not too long ago." He drank his beer in one long swig and looked at his sister's kid. "Jinling."

"Uncle Wei." Jinling curtly replied.

"And who is this charming gentleman?" Wei Wuxian changed his focus to the only boy he didn't know.

"Ah, this is Nie Zizhen, his father is my uncle… other uncle's head of security." Jingyi answered him.

"Well, nice to see you boys, so, let's eat, I'm starving."

Despite the initial awkwardness, they got along well enough by the time they finished their meals, thanks to Wei Wuxian's skill of managing teenagers.

He knew Jinling would show some indifference towards his new friends, but they all bonded well with the online game they all played together.

While they all played the game, he observed the boys quietly.

Wen Yuan and Jinling, he knew well. Jingyi was Lan Wangji's nephew, Nie Zizhen was the one he had not yet grasped the personality. He looked like just an ordinary boy, but hebknew that the kids from influential families were rarely just ordinary.

Right at that time, his phone vibrated and he got a message from… Xiao Bai? 

Hmm, he wondered how she got his phone number, although she probably just asked Lan Wangji. 

He opened the message and read it.

We're going to the amusement park and Xiao Hei misses you. Meet us there in an hour. Xiao Bai.

Well, that was just like her. Bossy little girl.

Wei Wuxian chuckled, but since he didn't have any plan other than his dinner date with Lan Wangji, he replied with a short I'll be there. 

It had been quite some time since he went to the amusement park. The last time probably was when Jinling and Wen Yuan were still little boys, and he had to babysit them.

How time flies…

Meanwhile, the dark figure that has been looming around Wei Wuxian, was looking for a chance to be alone with him. 

He had received his order, but he needed to plan and execute everything perfectly, without any hitch, since Wei Wuxian was no ordinary man. His keen senses would immediately detect him if he showed even just a little bit of killing intent. That was how good Wei Wuxian is.

Not to mention the Lans that seemed to be everywhere.

Their senses were more sensitive than Wei Wuxian's, and they would be more ruthless if they caught on to what he was planning on doing to him.

So, the best course of action for now, was waiting until the perfect opportunity came.

Jingyi and Zizhen decided to come to the amusement park, so did Wen Yuan. Jinling, who did not want to have any contact with the Lans, returned to his house, afraid to anger his father if he found out that he met with Wei Wuxian although accidentally. After all, he was still his mother's god brother, and Jinling's father forbade him to meet his mother and that probably included her kins.

Sometimes, he just felt so tired with all this back and forth, passive aggressive, his-father-showing-dominance-over-his-mother things between his parents, and how he wished to be an ordinary person instead of some heir bullshit. 

Even Jingyi had his uncles' love and care even though they were not of his blood.

He really missed his mother.

No matter how tough his outward appearance was, he still missed those warm embrace, sweet smelling familiar perfume, and the soft singing voice of his mother. Especially since his father, the cold blooded snake, was never shown any affection toward him. He said affection was only for the weak.

Yeah right.

But he couldn't do anything right now, not until he got a firm hold of the heir position, instead of his father.

So the only thing he could do right now was put down his head and lay low.

Wei Wuxian and the juniors arrived at the amusement park just a few minutes before the twins.

The twins came with Wen Qing and Xue Yang, who already did his job checking the perimeter before they arrived.

Wen Qing smiled at Wei Wuxian and glanced at Wen Yuan, who seemed not to know her, since she had already left before he knew who she was.

Since the twins were already familiar with Zizhen, he introduced them to Wen Yuan.

Xiao Bai just nodded curtly and Xiao Hei didn't even look at anyone beside Wei Wuxian with his watery silver eyes.

He shyly put up his arms, asking for a hug, and Wei Wuxian obliged. But instead of a hug, he carried Xiao Hei in his arms and they walked together inside, followed by Xiao Bai's irritated gaze.

"Xiao Bai, you want me to carry you?" Jingyi teased her.

"As if." 

She harrumphed and stomped her little feet like a kid, and Wei Wuxian noticed it. Instead of asking permission, he just scooped the girl into his other arms.

Xiao Bai pouted but she didn't resist.

"Just so you know, I did this for you, so that you won't be embarrassed if I reject you."

Wei Wuxian only chuckled and hugged both of them tight, while Xiao Hei giggled and poked Xiao Bai's puffed cheek.

This was just supposed to be an ordinary fun outing day.
