Chapter 79- Falling, Appalling, Trouble Is Calling

Inspirational quote: If you are scared of death, why be scared? You've got so much life left to live!

Agent Arista stared at her father blankly, completely confused on what he had just told her.

"What? How does me destroying your gun all of a sudden make you lose your telepathy?"

Dr Kozak sighed back, not saying anything.

"That gun you just destroyed was magic, Arista. It made me read minds, Arista. And the psychic cold two years ago as well, yes."

Dr Kozak then came up to his daughter, walking up to her and shaking her.

"Do you realise what you've done, Arista?" Dr Kozak warned her, continuously shaking her.

"That telepathy was really important. I can't read minds anymore, how am I supposed to know what people secretly think about me behind my back? And invent new things? Do you know what you've made my life become, Arista?"

Arista nodded.

"Yes. Normal. Like everybody else!"

Dr Kozak didn't say anything, just walked away from her, annoyingly.

"I just can't believe you would do something like this, Arista. You've just literally destroyed my entire life!"

"Just by destroying your gun?"

Dr Kozak was really far away from her now, walking further away from her each second. He then turned around to face her, tears kind of stinging his eyes.

Dr Kozak wasn't crying. No. He was just... Emotionally unstable at the moment.

"That gun was really important to me! With that gun, I could have invented new things, it made my life a lot less miserable, It made me have telepathy. It was the reason I had all my superpowers. And I can't have any of those superpowers now, because of you. So thanks a lot. You've messed up my life forever. Are you happy now Arista?"

Dr Kozak turned to walk away, then turned back again, Arista not saying anything.

"Oh.. And.. I'm glad that you didn't go on that date with Septimus and you got a clone to do that instead. Septimus would have hated you. You're not even a human being anyway."

Arista was confused once she heard that.

"Wait. What do you mean? I'm not human? Then what am I?"

Dr Kozak didn't say anything, just muttered one more thing to her, before going away.

"Oh and Arista? Why the heck would you get me a gun for my 34th birthday nearly two years ago if you knew that I was going to act all crazy with it?"

Arista didn't say anything, Dr Kozak just looked at her in annoyance.

Then saying to her that she was no longer his daughter anymore, he was done with her and that he never wanted to speak to her until further notice, Dr Kozak eventually turned his back to Arista and walked away.

Dr Kozak headed back to his laboratory in annoyance, switching on his computer, trying to talk to Kieran and Esperanza.

They picked up on the twenty seventh ring.

"Dr Kozak! There you are! Long time, no see! Where have you been?"

This was coming from Kieran, of course. Esperanza couldn't really talk. Her voice box got hurt by the car that thought it would have been a good idea to hit her on her birthday.

Without actually knowing that it was her birthday, of course.

Dr Kozak sighed, as he placed a hand on his chin, drumming with a pencil, not looking at them once.

"Oh hey. Sorry, my son died and my godfather had to talk to me about something. I'm sorry to keep you guys waiting for so long. My apologies."

Kieran didn't say anything, was just looking at Dr Kozak's laboratory, realising that something was missing.

Someone, actually.

"Hey... Hang on a second. Where's Agent Arista?"

Dr Kozak rolled his eyes in disbelief just thinking about her.

"Oh. Her? We got into an argument. And I'm really mad at her."

Kieran just blinked at him once before saying anything else.

"Why?"

"She destroyed my precious gun."

"Thank God!"

This was coming from Esperanza this time, not Kieran, where both Kieran and Dr Kozak were just looking at her rather quizzically.

"Why 'thank god'?" They both asked her simultaneously.

"Because. You shouldn't be killing people like that, Dr Kozak. How would you feel if you died because someone shot you?"

"I'll shoot you in a minute, Esperanza, if you don't shut up!" Dr Kozak hissed at her.

Kieran thought something, but Dr Kozak didn't say anything back, making Kieran absolutely dumbfounded.

"Oh my gosh, Dr Kozak!"

Dr Kozak just looked at him blankly in return.

"What, kid?"

"I just thought something."

Dr Kozak: Yeah. And?

Kieran: You didn't read my mind!

Dr Kozak just shrugged, staring intently at a daisy that was right opposite him, and as soon as he had stopped staring, the daisy wilted progressively.

Dr Kozak: I can't.

Kieran: Why not?

Dr Kozak: Arista destroyed my gun, I don't have telepathy anymore. That gun made me have telepathy. I can't read anyone's mind anymore, kid.

Kieran: Oh. So that's why you're mad at her! Makes perfect sense now.

Dr Kozak: Yeah.

Dr Kozak and Kieran didn't say anything, because just then Dr Kozak's phone vibrated in his lab coat pocket (he switched his jacket for lab coat).

After texting Ezekiel back about what had happened to Professor Florentine, Kozak had then gone to face Kieran and Esperanza again.

"What's this I hear about you and Esperanza getting lost?" he told Kieran in particular, typing something back to Ezekiel before putting his phone away for good. "I thought I told you guys to stick together!"

Kieran didn't say anything to Dr Kozak, he had just turned red in the process, looking back at Esperanza.

Esperanza had come closer to him, even though Dr Kozak had just literally told her that he would have killed her if she didn't shut up.

But pfft. He didn't mean that.

Of course he didn't.

As Kozak had said himself, he wasn't evil enough to kill Esperanza on her birthday, or at all.

"We did stick together. We had tried calling you but you didn't pick up and it left us wondering why. Heck, I even tried calling Arista, but she didn't pick up either. Kieran didn't mean to get us lost. So please don't be mad at him. Be mad at both of us or none of us, but not Kieran alone. It's not right."

Kieran stared at Esmeralda in admiration, where Esperanza had glanced back and then winked it him in the far distance, which Kieran had smiled too.

Dr Kozak on the other hand didn't seem very happy about them getting lost. He seemed very very annoyed, and when Kieran had asked him if he was OK, Dr Kozak had just lashed out at him.

But to be honest, this was kind of his fault too.

Why?

When Kieran and Esperanza had called him. Even though what Dr Kozak had to do was important, Kieran and Esperanza still shouldn't have come last on Kozak's priority list.

Although it wasn't exactly his fault that unprecedented events had kept on happening-- that was all way out of Dr Kozak's control.

"You guys had one job and you've completely blown it," Dr Kozak hissed at them. "I know I wasn't there for you, but I didn't need to be. I had important things to do. I trusted you guys and you had let me down."

When Kieran had heard that Dr Kozak said that he had more important things to do, he was furious about that.

So was he basically saying that him and Esperanza weren't important? How would Kozak had felt if Kieran or Esperanza had said that about him?

Almost glad that Dr Kozak couldn't read Kieran's mind anymore, Kieran had thought some mean thoughts about him, before he had finally decided to say something once and for all.

Kieran: So you're saying we're not important?

Dr Kozak sighed.

That wasn't what he had meant at all, but then again, Kieran couldn't really have been blamed, De Kozak wasn't very clear about it.

Dr Kozak: You guys are important. You really are. I just had to go to a meeting.

Esperanza: Kieran and I get that, we totally do but couldn't the meeting have waited though? Goodness knows where we are now.

But the meeting couldn't have waited.

It really couldn't have.

If Dr Kozak had missed the meeting he had to go to (which he didn't go to anymore because of Ezekiel and the whole situation about Marcel dying) then Kozak may have lost his position in KOZAHKISTAN HEADQUARTERS, and he didn't want that.

When Kozak told them that the meeting couldn't have waited much longer, for some reason, this had made Kieran a lot angrier than before.

Due to this fact alone, both Kieran and Dr Kozak had ended up having an argument about how it was Dr Kozak's fault that him and Esperanza were lost anyway, before Dr Kozak had completely lost it.

He had even said at some point that he didn't want to be their leader anymore and that they should have just sorted out the whole situation by themselves, and when Kieran had heard that, he knew that he had taken everything too far.

Kieran: Wait, Dr Kozak, I didn't mean that. Sorry.

Esperanza: Yeah, please don't leave. You're our only hope.

Dr Kozak sighed, thinking of what to say before saying it once and for all.

Dr Kozak: OK fine. I won't leave, but you've got to do some things by yourself. Look, you're lost, figure out where you are without my help, and we'll see how things go on from there. Understood?

Kieran and Esperanza understood, before Dr Kozak wished them Godspeed, then they hung up once and for all.

"There's no more Dr Kozak for the time being, Esperanza. Just you and me now. Come on, let's go."
