Allyria, a large kingdom which once welcomed all species, and was heralded as a safe haven for all creatures. Once it was a fair place, accepting all, and the influential punished those who committed wrong in a just manner. Travelers fondly recalled their visits to the kingdom, and in many folk songs sung by bards, Allyria was known as The Kingdom of hospitality.
Then the king and queen died in a mysterious accident, and as they had no heirs or children, the Head Royal Advisor and his wife became the new king and queen, as law dictated. For many years, they ruled fairly, upholding the kingdom's fairness and welcoming attitude to all. Then the queen became of child, but she was weak and of ill health. Once the child was born, she passed away like a delicate flower bitten by winter's cruel frost. The king was stricken with grief, but he determined to care and love the child, and put aside his mourning to do so, believing that the child would grow into the next king. Also, he knew that his wife would wish for him to look after their child well.
Tragedy struck when the babe was but a year old. He was discovered in his cot, bleeding from multiple hideous claw scratches, with a bite mark within his neck. The child's blood had been sucked dry, and he was dead.
Having sworn to protect his child, the king was struck with anguish and misery. Rage also filled him, for he linked the bite mark to the habits of vampires, who were notorious for sucking blood. As the days wore on, the King's grief and wrath mounted, until suddenly it enveloped him in a red mist.
Merciless, the king sent out orders for all vampires to be captured and slain, sending his most elite soldiers to carry out the horrific deed. The king declared that the vampires had killed his child, and so he would wreak his own punishment upon them. Such evil creatures, he decided, had to be wiped from the earth before they could act again.
Vampires were slain, none given a trial, none shown any pity. Soon, the kingdom was eliminated of them, or so the King believed. He even renamed the kingdom, and Allyria was known as Netinvolsheb, which, in the old tongue, meant 'No Vampires.' Allyria was no more, a mere dream of someplace wonderful, destroyed by a horrific act and rage.
But Vampires still existed, just disguised as other creatures, to avoid the consequences caused by the actions of one of their own.
