Driving to Smith's Company takes at least 30minutes if there is no traffic jam.Mum has been pestering several times to spend time with my son,which I should but if I keep on spending time with him who is going to run the Smith company,the only reason I'm working hard is for him,I want the best for my one and only son.
I know he will be devasted since I neither spend time with him I don't even do the smallest thing for him like cooking.

I was scrolling through my Facebook account when a notification popped up which said"February 24th Dave Thomas birthday".

I have forgotten about Dave because it is meaningless thinking about some who never added any value to my life.

So today is his birthday,I'm sure he must be celebrating it lavishly with everyone back at home,in the past Dave's birthday was always a special day for both of us but due to his behaviour...

Ting,

I heard the notification sound of my phone,I sat up straight since I was still on the bed,I took my phone from the bed table to see what the sound was all about.

"Harriet,this is a reminder today is
Dave's birthday".

Thanks phone for the reminder,why won't I remember the love of my life birthday.I know today is his birthday I have planned a lot of surprises and goodies for him.

I switched off the phone, turned to my side and saw Dave still sleeping peacefully on the bed.

I got out of the bed and went to take a shower,I brushed my teeth and walked into my closet.I wore a black polka dot dress and let my hair down.

I went downstairs to the kitchen since I planned on making a special breakfast for both of us since Dave has been acting strangely. I made all his special delicacies and food for him since it was his day.

As soon as I was done with the preparation of the food,I went upstairs to our room to wake him up since he should be awake by now. I entered into the room and saw Dave still sleeping peacefully like a baby.

"Dave"I called while making my way to the bed,I tapped his shoulder gently,he stirred a little bit but he did not wake up.
"Dave"I spoke gently"wake up"

Finally,he woke up but with an annoyed look ,God knows why he is angry,is he not meant to be happy for crying out loud? today is his birthday.

"Dave my love,
happy birthday to you
happy birthday to you
happy birthd__"

"Stop woman"Dave yelled angrily interrupting me,his facial expression was scary he looked as if he could kill someone.

"Dave what happened?"

"What a foolish question to ask woman,what is all this"he asked angrily pointing towards the wall of the room and the bedside table which was decorated with birthday cards,wine,cakes and present.

"Darling today is your birthday,so I decided to plan something special for you"I said trying to justify my actions.

"Did I ask you to plan anything for me,I don't need your wishes, surprise and lastly your card, your are just a worthless and infertile woman I'm pleading to you stay away from me I don't want you to bring me bad luck just by me looking at you"he got up from the bed, walked to the table beside the bed and threw everything which was on the table and the wall,he ruined the cake,broke the wine,threw the special breakfast on the floor my sweat and blood and lastly he viciously tore the card I specially wrote for him.

I fell on my knees and wept,I was in pain no from the destruction of all my hardwork but from the pain in my heart that my Dave the love of my life could ever refer to me as an unlucky and a worthless woman all because I can't bear him a child.
End of flashback.

The car came to a halt and Jake announces our arrival,he was about alighting but I stopped him and opened the door by myself.

I start walking towards the entrance of the door to begin my "Monday".
Immediately I walked through the from door all the employees greeted and mumbled a "Good morning,Miss Smith".I replied each and everyone of them with a"Good morning,have a nice Monday".

I head for the elevator and pressed the top floor button,3 seconds later,the door closes.
Once I am at the top which is the 14th floor,the door opens and I am met with my secretary seated at her desk typing quickly on the keyboard.

As soon as she noticed me,she mumbled a"Good morning ma'am".

"Good morning Linda"I said acknowledging her"get me the names of the latecomers and inform them they should report to my office in less than a minute"I despise lateness especially those who don't have a great excuse.

I make my way to my office which was down the hall,I got to the door, twisted the door knob to my right instantly the door opened.

After entering and settling down on my seat, someone knocks on the door I say a quick"Enter"

My personal secretary Bella who was also my great friend strolled in with a tray which had 2cup of coffee,she greets"Good morning ma'am"she said obviously teasing me since I don't like her referring to me as ma'am,she is so annoying.

Bella and I are good friends,she is the only person I could trust with past and lastly she gets me and understand me when I am in my good days and bad days.

"Good morning Bella,how was your night"i say while looking at my laptop to check if I have any emails or meetings scheduled for today or the following days.

"Harriet it was normal just that there was no big fish to be caught I didn't even have fun this weekend"Bella said sadly,this girl is a sicko she refers to guys as "big fish" .

I slowly sip my cup of coffee while going through some files on my desk.

"Any upcoming event we are needed to be present at"I glanced up at her since there was no reply or whatsover,she was lost in thought.

I speak once again bring her out of her thoughts"Any upcoming event we are needed to be present at"
"Um-yh,yes, but I don't think you will be willing to go"
"What are you saying,speak like a normal person Bella"
"We are needed at an event but it is in Sea__"I was listening to Bella when I hear a knock on the door,I say a quick"come in".

The secretary and 3 others fearfully walked in with her. The 3 others who consisted of 3 girls Miss Tani,Miss Stacy,Miss Luna;the troublemakers,lazy and irresponsible staff. They greeted like everyone else but their eyes where not meeting my eyes.

I glanced up at them,they were standing there fidgeting, looking intensely at their feet and playing with their fingers nervously.

"You guys came late again right...when will you guys ever come early what is your excuse today let me guess;you were waiting for a dog to cross the road or you forgot to set an alarm or you had no water or your mother came for a visit or your sister fainted which is it and don't bother giving me pointless excuses," I said my voice low but laced with anger, I am fed up with their irrelevant excuses.
"Ma'am we are sorry it was the traffic jam"they said together as if they already planned their reply.
"Which traffic jam are you talking about?if there was a traffic jam I would have been late,let this be the last time you ever come late again unless you will be fired now...get out"I yelled while leaning my back in my seat and crossed my arms over my chest, after that was said...they quickly scrambled out of the door.

"Bella back to business,do we have any function or event we are needed at?"I glanced up at her since she was sipping her cup of coffee.
"Yes Harriet,we are needed at an award ceremony next week it is in se___"before she could finish I interrupted her by saying"Bella just get me the usual number of tickets needed for the event".

I decided to log in back on my Facebook account immediately,a live video popped up.

"THE BIRTHDAY OF THE FAMOUS BUSINESS TYCOON MR DAVE THOMAS"

In the video Dave could be seen dancing with my step sister lovingly like she was the only woman present in the room.He never really had that love for me only to disgrace me and insult me but I couldn't find a child"strange"maybe he/she is dancing around somewhere.

Minutes later,in the video he was being interviewed by a reporter whose name was not disclosed.
"Mr Dave I wish you a very happy birthday sir,"the reporter said while shaking his hand with his right hand since the right hand was busy holding the microphone.
"Thank you very much"he replied gratefully.
"Mr Dave what about your wife Mrs Harriet Thomas it was said that she ran away,is it because of you or she left on her own due to some unknown reason"as soon as Dave heard that question his face suddenly went pale I'm sure he I going to lie about what happened to save himself.
"It was not my fault she ran way from home, I just came home to find her gone I was really devastated"I feel like giving him a tight slap for his reply really "DEVASTATED" wow I feel so honoured you can feel that by my absence.
"So then she ran away because you had an illegitimate relationship with her sister?"the reporter asked before I could listen to his reply I heard my name"Harriet I'm going to my office some paperwork are pending,if you need me just ring me up"she said.

God knows what is wrong with her;she has just been acting strangely,I need to inform Benjamin about our trip since anytime we go for an event we all go together which also include Mum and Dad.

This trip will be a good solution to bring me and baby boy Benjamin together,I feel like we are drifting apart I am meant to be both his father and mother but here I am stuck in the office trying to figure out new strategies to make more profit and if I should leave the company for just a moment I'm sure it will go bankrupt with all my incapable worker who just love been lazy...

I'm really thankful to Mr and Mrs Smith if not for them I am certainly sure I will have no roof on my head,no money ,no food to feed my son and other essential things to survive..
