Mission Accomplished

I promise I'll make this story a lot more serious that the above picture entails I just couldn't resist

Smoke and flames decimated the area around Jack Morrison as Talon forces cut their path of destruction through King's Row.

They wouldn't get through the Overwatch.

As the smoke cleared enough for their silhouettes to be seen, Jack opened fire with the rest of the team.

The sound of gunshots piled on to the bouncing grenades and insane cackling of the young man beside him and booming explosions of rockets from Fareeha's rocket launcher, the jets of her Raptora armor fizzing occasionally.

"JUST A BIT CLOSER! COME ON!" Reinhardt managed to cry over them all, his barrier raised to keep his team on the ground safe and hand gripping his hammer tightly.

As far as Jack could tell, their new recruit was doing well. Genji was right, Hanzo was very skilled with a bow.

A sound like buzzing rang out as a blue dot of light zipped around the smoke. High giggling and "Take that!" Could be heard.

There was a loud grunt and whir, then the smoke was cleared as the Doomfist slammed into the earth.

"They're here!" Jamison dragged out in his creepiest voice before letting out a cackle, dropping a proximity mine to his feet and detonating it just as he passed over it. He trailed smoke as he flew into the heat of battle.

"RAT!" Roadhog shouted furiously after his partner, scrap cannon firing more often now as he charged in as well.

"Keep them at bay!" Jack shouted to Fareeha, figuring Reinhardt didn't need a command to do so as the German was currently swinging his hammer and laughing as he knocked three soldiers at a time out of the fight. Thank God Ana was making sure he wasn't dead.

"Understood!" Fareeha cried out in reply as her damage boost fueled rampage continued.

With that, the old soldier took off in a sprint through the Talon forces. A spray of pulse munitions firing steadily after him slowed when he heard it. Cloth waving in the wind.

He turned around in time to meet a steel boot with his face as the wraith returned to a more solid state. "Hi Jack," Reaper's low voice growled and metal claws gripped his jacket for a moment before Jack's head made contact with a nearby wall. Over the ringing in his ears, he heard, "KEEP ATTACKING, THIS ONE IS MINE."

Oh like hell.

Jack's feet flew out, connecting with Gabriel's gut.
No not Gabriel, not anymore.

Reaper backed up with a slight grunt of pain, his shot guns dropping to his feet as he doubled over.

Seizing the opportunity, Jack cracked him over the head with the butt of his rifle. A sharp splintering sound marked the scar in that skull like mask running from under his hood to the left eye socket. "Not a chance." 76 retaliated.

With a roar, the Reaper swung his fist. It made a small crater in the wall next to Jack's head. The former commander's knee went directly through the terrorist's torso who used his lost balance to put an elbow to his face. The red glass of his visor cracked like a spiderweb and covered most of his vision. He felt his pulse rifle ripped from his hands and the object thrust into his face with enough force to reduce the visor to about as useful as a phone screen put through a shredder.

As fast as his reflexes allowed, Jack tore the visor off his face and used it as a blunt force weapon to beat the old man in front of him across the face. The fractured corner of the mask fell away with a clatter and the rest of it was knocked askew. Beneath was still Gabriel Reyes but he was pale. From what Jack could see, some of his scars had become black eyes with red pupils, others sharp toothed lipless mouths. As the correctly placed eye opened, Jack saw it was the same coloration of all the spares. Fully black with irises the color of the burning buildings around them.

"Jesus," Jack mumbled, "What the hell happened to you, Gabe?"

"You don't get to call me that anymore."

A grenade ticked away before detonating beside the old soldiers. " ANA! NOW!" Jack roared over the heavy gunfire of the area as he body slammed into the wall with Reaper.

He caught sight of his former teammate's eyes grow wide before a syringe of yellow liquid hit him in the neck. His eyes rolled up as he collapsed to the ground.

Reinhardt almost tore the wall to shreds as he slammed four men into it, likely killing them on the spot. "I SHALL TAKE HIM TO THE DROP SHIP!" He yelled, throwing a limp Reaper over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, setting is barrier up and side stepping out of enemy fire.

"Mission accomplished team! Now drive them back!" Jack yelled, firing from cover, ignoring the bleeding wounds he had accumulated in his short run.

He didn't worry much about them as a flash of yellow light behind him and the gentle whir of Angela's staff eased his wounds closed and she returned to buff the damage of Fareeha's rockets with a quick, "Damage amplified!"

Jack rejoined the battle as Reinhardt slipped behind cover to reach the ship. He dropped an emitter to his feet and started spraying pulse munitions at the terrorist forces.

A hiss was heard in the air, then boosters charging. Jack heard a crunch as the Doomfist slammed into his face and his vision faded out.

The soldier's eyes opened to meet the blurry sight of florescent lights and his muddled hearing picked up a voice.

"Jack? Are you awake? Can you hear me?" Angela fussed, the strike commander's ears only barely picking the sound up. It sounded like he was underwater.

"Loud and clear doc," Jack lied as to not worry her.

"How do you feel?" The medic was very blatantly concerned

"I'm fine. Did the mission go well?" Jack ignored his basic needs

"Yes, we cleared the Talon forces out of King's Row and everybody made it back safe." Angela reported.

"And Ga- Reaper?"

Angela smiled assuredly and nodded as she said "Contained."

Mission success.
