49. Awkward Reality

Haider gasped as Amaal pushed him on the bed and then hurriedly climbed over him.

'Wow! I didn't know you can be a tigress.' He complimented with a smirk. Amaal clawed the air and laughed,

- 'You haven't any of me yet.' She replied, straddling him. Her hands swiftly untied his robe and pushed it apart.

'I always wanted to touch you like this.' She ran her index finger from his collar bone through his chest and rested her palm over his abs. She shuddered and Haider's smirk widened. He moved his hand and grabbed her waist, she yelped and looked at him. With their gaze locked, he cupped her behind. She stiffened; her eyes widened.

'That was it. Phuss?' He teased her. She blinked and tried to sound bold but her wavering voice gave her away.

'No!'

Haider chuckled and turned them around. She gasped falling on the bed. He hovered over her, - 'I don't think you are ready.' – He leaned and placed a kiss under her ear. She shivered, placing her palm over his bare chest. He smiled feeling her heaving chest against his, - 'Just don't get too over-excited.' He whispered and flickered his tongue over her ear-lope, - 'yet.'

A soft moan escaped her mouth and he shifted. He needed to control himself. Amaal was naïve and inexperienced.

Haider moved back and sighed, running his palm over his hair, - 'Amaal. Let's have dinner. Okay.' He said sitting up. Amaal was still breathing heavily and hesitantly nodded. She propped up on her elbows and sighed.

'I am not hungry.' She pouted. Haider smiled and sat next to her; he held her face with one hand.

'Okay. Maybe you aren't ready for the—at least, we can—um, foreplay.' He hesitated. This statement brightened her face. But her smile dropped when he insisted on dinner first.

'But then we will become lethargic.' She whined. Haider managed to coax her. And she unwillingly agreed.

As they ate together, Amaal looked around. After realizing the coast was clear, she moved her leg. Haider almost choked on his food as he felt her feet caress his leg. He gulped and looked at her. She winked at him, twirling her fork in the air. He smiled back and moved his hand. Slowly, he slithered his palm towards her but before he could hold her hand, the ringing of his phone disturbed them. Both clicked their tongue in agitation.

Haider answered the call and whilst talking, he left the food and marched towards the staircase. Amaal blinked at him but doesn't interrupt him.

Banerjee had called, telling him about the new project. So, he hurried to his room. Soon, he got busy on a video conference call with the clients. Amaal slightly opened the door, he glanced at her and then got back to looking at his computer. She sighed sadly and slowly shut the door.

The conference call went well for a long time, then Haider got busy working on his design. He didn't realize how time flew, it was only when he wanted to have some tea did he realize,

- 'Amaal!' He whispered. He dropped his pencil but before leaving, he arranged them. Then, he hurried out of the room.

Cautiously, Haider opened the door to the room, it was the same room where Amaal stayed before getting married. His heart fell upon seeing her asleep. She laid on her back and breathed steadily. Slowly, he climbed on the bed next to her. He caressed her forehead, - 'I am sorry, Amaal. I just--.'

'It is okay.' Amaal said in her sleep. For a moment, Haider was taken aback. She opened one eye, looked at him, and grinned. He shook his head, looking at her in disbelief. Amaal chuckled, sitting up on the bed.

'It is four in the morning. You were waiting for me?'

Amaal leaned, shaking her head, - 'No. I didn't want to sleep. I was scared.' She looked away. Haider held her hand and gripped it tightly.

'Why?' He caressed her hair. She sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder.

'Last night, I got night terrors again. It was after a long time.' – she moved away, - 'I don't know why it happened. Anyway, thankfully Reyansh was there.' She looked at Haider. He felt guilty as he recollected his impulsive move the previous night. He mistook them and over-reacted.

Amaal smiled at him, - 'You know, Reyansh is married and he was a one-year-old son.' – She revealed, Haider blinked at her, - 'Also, every year. I send him Rakhi. He is, um, my Rakhi brother.' She smiled in a teasing way. Haider felt awkward and she was having fun with him.

He took a moment and then smiled a little. Amaal swiftly got up from the bed announcing that she will be making tea for both. Haider readily agreed. Together, hand in hand, they left the room.

Haider walked out of the bathroom, pulling up the collar of his three-piece suit. He stopped in his tracks upon noticing Amaal by the mirror. Tonight, was the Walima (reception) and she had called him a million times at work to remind him about it. He kept his gaze on her as he took slow steps towards her. She had worn a beautiful knee-length red dress, he slipped his hand over her bareback, twirling the large bow design at the back.

Amaal gasped, slapping his hand away. Haider frowned but his reaction went unnoticed as she turned around.

'Which one?' She quizzed looking at a bunch of lipsticks in her hand with uttermost confusion. Haider laughed heartily and shrugged.

'How do I know?'

'You have been with so many women so, I thought you must be knowing.' She said, innocently. Haider held her shoulders and turned her to face him.

'Um, I suggest let the past be in the past. You needn't bring up the topic of any women into our present or future.' He sounded serious.

Amaal blinked, tilting her head a little, - 'Look Haider,' – She sounded concerned, - 'I am not slut-shaming you if you are thinking it that way.'

Haider retracted his hand, looking miffed. He sighed, shaking his head a little. Closing his eyes, he recollected some calming thoughts.

'Haider, I am sorr—' Amaal's apology was cut short as he placed a finger on her lips.

'Anyway, what is the point of wearing one when,' – He squeezed her lower-lip with his thumb and index finger, - 'it's going to get smudged anyway.' He eyed her lips intently and then gazed into her eyes. He noticed her pupils dilating.

He moved his palm to the length of her arm and gripped her upper arm tightly. He pulled her closer and leaned. She smiled, eyeing his lips, and then closed her eyes. Haider held her firmly as he kissed her, she moved her arms and placed them on his shoulder. They continued to kiss deeply until there was a knock at the door.

'Ma'am, there is Reyansh sir for you.' AK called from the other side of the door. Haider mentally cursed his inappropriate timing as he unwillingly parted from Amaal.

'Ask him to wait for ten minutes.' She replied and began to hurriedly rummage through the lipsticks, - 'Damn! You distracted me, Haider.'

Haider straightened, clearing his throat, and then pulled up his placid tie. Quietly, he walked out of the room. Amaal doesn't glance at him as she was busy with her make-up.

'How does everyone else do this?' She whined.
