Chapter 44: Space
Stacy walked away from Axel, trying to process her emotions. She had thought that she was over him, that she had moved on with her life. But now, as she stood in her apartment, feeling the weight of Axel's gaze on her, she realized that she was still in love with him.
Axel didn't try to follow her, didn't try to persuade her to stay. He simply stood there, his eyes fixed on hers, as if willing her to come back to him.
Stacy felt a pang of guilt as she looked at him. She knew that she had hurt him, that she had pushed him away without giving him a chance to explain. But she couldn't help the way she felt. She was scared, scared of getting hurt again, scared of losing herself in Axel's arms.
As the silence between them stretched out, Stacy knew that she had to do something. She couldn't just stand there, frozen in indecision, while Axel looked at her with those piercing blue eyes.
"I need some space," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Axel nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "I'll give you space," he said. "But please, Stacy, don't push me away again. I love you, and I want to be with you."
Stacy felt a lump form in her throat as she looked at Axel. She wanted to believe him, wanted to trust him, but she was scared. She was scared of getting hurt again, scared of losing herself in Axel's arms.
As Axel turned and walked away, Stacy felt a pang of regret. She had pushed him away, pushed away the one person who had ever truly loved her.
But as she stood there, watching Axel disappear into the night, Stacy knew that she had made the right decision. She needed space, needed time to think and to process her emotions.
And as she turned and walked back into her apartment, Stacy knew that she would be okay. She would get through this, and would come out stronger on the other side.
But as she lay in bed that night, Stacy couldn't shake the feeling that she had just made a huge mistake. She had pushed Axel away, pushed away the one person who had ever truly loved her.
And as she drifted off to sleep, Stacy couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Would she and Axel ever be together again? Or had she just blown her chance at true love?
Axel sat on the couch, staring blankly at the wall as he thought about his conversation with Stacy. He couldn't believe how much he had opened up to her, sharing things he had never told anyone before.
Stacy, on the other hand, was walking around her apartment, feeling a sense of excitement and nervousness. She couldn't believe how much she had connected with Axel, and she couldn't help but wonder if this was the start of something special.
As she walked into her bedroom, Stacy caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She smiled, feeling a sense of confidence and hope that she hadn't felt in a long time.
Meanwhile, Axel's phone buzzed with an incoming text from Stacy. He smiled as he read the message, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation.
"Hey, want to grab coffee tomorrow?" Stacy's message read.
Axel's heart skipped a beat as he read the message. He couldn't believe that Stacy was asking him out.
"Definitely," Axel replied, trying to sound casual despite the excitement building up inside him.
As he waited for Stacy's response, Axel couldn't help but feel a sense of hope and excitement. Maybe, just maybe, this was the start of something special.
What do you think happens next?
