2 - Disappointment
Narrator's POV
Meanwhile, in a warehouse at an unknown location, a dark portal had opened with Tomura Shigaraki emerging alongside Izuku Midoriya, the latter brought here against his will.
Midoriya's POV
My eyes slowly adjust to the light due to the portal, and I am greeted to the sight of what looks like an abandoned warehouse. Giant overhead lights illuminate a direct path towards wherever we were going. After walking to the other side, I saw Shigaraki's assistant Kurogiri, who was cleaning something. I heard Shigaraki yell at Kurogiri about opening the portal so far away. He just apologized and went back to work. We kept walking before we arrived at a big steel door. Shigaraki opened it and I was now standing in a laboratory, where an operating table was stationed in the center. I didn't bother resisting, there was no point anymore. Shigaraki told me to get on the table and I did before he used straps to subdue me. It was then that I saw him turn to a television in the corner and began talking to someone.
"Sensei..." Oh no. That can only mean one person... It can't be.
"I am here, Tomura Shigaraki. Were you successful in your mission?" His mission? Capturing me? Why would they want me? They probably still think I have One For All, that I am of actual use.
"Yes Sensei... He actually put it on easy mode. Not sure why though..." I then heard the man surprisingly laugh before composing himself.
"I am truly not surprised, for Young Midoriya has had both his body and mind broken. A truly unfortunate case. That's why I asked you to bring him here." He knows? What does he want with me? "I shall be there momentarily, Tomura. Feel free to leave to handle your other matters." I saw Shigaraki nod and walked out of the room, sealing the door. Moments later, another portal opened, and out walked the man I feared the most. All For One.
He walked through the portal and over to the table I was strapped onto. He looked down at me and shook his head. "Poor child... One little accident and your life gets turned upside down." I grit my teeth in anger. He must've guessed what I was feeling. "I can see you're not happy about what's happened. Your arms barely function anymore and you've been cast aside by those who you once held close because of it, doing something you were taught to do." I grit my teeth even more and began to break. "They threw you out because you're USELESS to them now." That pushed me over the edge and made me start sobbing. I was expecting him to start mocking me or torture me or something... but surprisingly he began to rub my head, somehow calming me down. I looked up to see him smiling. "That's why you're here now. You shall see in due time. But for now, please accept my apologies in advance." I was about to ask what he meant before I felt this massive surge of pain throughout my body. It felt like I was torn apart, limb by limb. An eternity of searing pain all in one second. Before I knew it, I felt my consciousness fading again, before I heard him speak again. "When you finally realize the truth, We'll be waiting, Young Midoriya." I just barely heard it before I passed out.
Time Skip - Twelve Hours
When I opened my eyes again, I was lying on the bench at the park. What did I do last night? I pushed myself off the bench and began walking back to the school. I then realize that was way easier than it should have been. I look at my arms only to discover that I could move them more than I usually could have, along with the fact that my scars were gone as well. I tore off my compression sleeve and began moving my arms all over the place. I couldn't believe it! My arms weren't destroyed anymore! I started running back to U.A., I gotta tell All Might! I can get my quirk back! I can be useful again! It'll be a new start.
When I got back to the school, I had to slow down because I realized class was already in session. How long was I asleep for? It didn't matter, I had to find All Might. I searched everywhere, including peeking into my old classroom. I eventually made my way to the roof since he would go there sometimes. I was about to open the door when I heard him talking to someone. I knew it wasn't right, but I put my ear up to the wall to listen in. I also heard another voice, which I presumed to be Kaachan.
"What do you want All Might?" He asked. I looked out the tiny window to see All Might in his power form and Bakugou across from him.
"Young Bakugou, I called you up here to talk about something important. You were the only person I could talk to because you know the truth about my powers." What was this? Why was All Might talking to Kaachan about One For All?
"Yeah. What about it? And isn't that Deku's quirk now?"
"Yes, it was, but he's damaged himself too much from that last fight to be capable of using it like it's supposed to. That's why you're here!" Oh no... please... "I've selected you as my new successor! You have been deemed worthy of the sacred torch!" No... NO! That was my quirk! MINE! Why can't I move my legs? Am I that scared?
"Fine I'll do it. Only cause I want to be the best." I heard Kaachan say before All Might pulled a hair out of his head. Kaachan took it and downed it without even thinking. I watched this as I began to break down. No... this isn't fair! I just got my arms back! I could have been a hero again! I could have been useful... now I'll always be useless... THEY TOOK IT AWAY FROM ME! I accidentally leaned on the door too much and it gave way, causing me to fall on the ground to their feet. I looked up to see All Might and Kaachan staring at me, both sharing that disgusting look of pity and surprise.
"Oh... Young Midoriya. I... You weren't supposed to hear this. I... I'm sorry to be doing this without telling you, but it was going to happen sooner or later." He said, trying to calm me down. He continued this while Bakugou stood in the background silent. I couldn't stop crying, and eventually he gave up and told me to come to him when I calm down. He then turned towards the exit and left, with Kaachan right behind him. He gave me one last look of disgust before he disappeared down the stairs. I couldn't move. I was just in a state of total shock. How could All Might do this to me? He chose ME! I'M HIS SUCCESSOR! NOT KAA-NO. BAKUGOU! I hate him... I hate my useless body... I HATE EVERYTHING! Eventually I managed to calm down before I made my way to the ledge of the roof. I couldn't handle it anymore. Even if I was fixed, I was still useless. I was hanging on to the barrier, hoping someone would stop me. I waited fifteen minutes. Nobody came. The last of my grip began to wear off, this was the end of my useless self. I closed my eyes, preparing to make my descent, before I heard a raspy voice behind me.
"Well well well... Aren't you giving up a little too early?" I turned my head towards the voice. My fears were confirmed. "It's been a minute... Izuku Midoriya." It was Tomura Shigaraki.
"W-Why are you here? Now of all times?" I asked. I was still crying, so I sounded pathetic.
"I'm here because you wanted someone. Someone to stop you. Someone to help you." I was just confused by this point. "I'll cut to the chase. I want you to join my organization." My heart dropped.
"W-Why do you want me? I'm useless in case y-you don't know." I could feel the anger in my voice. He just came here to mock me. It only makes sense. I then saw that he just smirked.
"On the contrary. You could be plenty of use to us. Sensei sees greatness in you..." I only got confused again until my heart dropped again. "... that's why he fixed you." As soon as he said that. My memories of last night came back. I couldn't believe it. He really did. He did what no hero could have done. Did he really see potential in me? I was pondering this when I realized I lost my grip and began to fall off the edge, only to be caught by a dark portal. It must have been Kurogiri. When I opened my eyes again and felt a pain in my bottom as I landed on my butt back on the roof. Shigaraki couldn't help but snicker a little, showing he still wasn't mature. I got up and he took this as a sign to continue.
"See? Had I not shown up, you would have gone splat." He had a point. "So. Will you join us? Or go back to your useless existence as a quirkless runt." I hesitated for a moment, before remembering how everyone looked at differently at me almost instantly. I didn't want to turn on them, but I had no other option. I gazed up until my eyes met Shigaraki's, green meeting red.
"Very well Shigaraki... If I won't be useless like you say, then I'll join you."
