The birds were chiming loudly outside Susan's bedroom, a sound that invalid the room from the window which was slightly opened, along with the first sunray, enough light to wake the younger woman.

The sun was now shining bright and people were talking loudly out on the streets and as much as she wanted to rose up from the bed and walk outside, covered with blankets the images from last night were still running wild in her head, oh, she would give anything for yesterday's night to never end.

She looked at her lover, still asleep and run her thumb softly on her cheek, landing on her bottom lip. Everything on her was perfect and she was now sure, looking at Susan's angelic face, she finally has found her soulmate. She chuckled at her thoughts, years of reading, searching, she was sure that there was no thing such as soulmates and here she was, Susan came and changed the way she was seeing the world. Susan changed her world. With her big eyes, her mind, she did turn her world upside down.

Jessica slowly crawled next to Susan, placing her cold nose on her neck and purred like a kitten with that she felt Susan's hands wrapping her around, pushing her closer to her body and her lips crashing on her head, placing kisses.

"Good morning"

"Good morning, honey"

A slight smile covered Susan's face, she could hear Jessica calling her 'honey' on repeat every day and still it wouldn't be enough. "How did you sleep?"

"Wonderful"

"You want breakfast?"

"Please don't go now" Jessica whispered and locked her eyes with Susan's, she rose her eyebrows and with that puppy look on her face Susan started laughing, she kissed her forehead, "Alright, I'm here"

"Yeah, you are..." Jessica whispered and made herself more comfortable in her lover's arms. A few minutes passed and when Jessica was about to fall asleep Susan's phone interrupted their peace, making the older woman jump out of the bed.

"Fuck!" Susan shouted and answered the phone, "I know, I know, I know, I'm coming! Shit! I forgot about it!"

Jessica furrowed her brows together, listening to her lover and sighed, once again she was alone. Susan hanged up and looked at her lover.

"Don't even start... I'm out" she said and stood up

"I... I've got to go"

"Don't tell..." she chuckled while picking up her clothes

"Look, I totally forgot about it but"

Jessica cut her short, "But you can cancel it now, can you?"

Susan stood in silence, she just sighed and with that Jessica continued, "All I wanted was to spend a few hours with you, simple as that but I guess I was not included in your schedule... again"

"Again? We're most of the day together, what are you talking about?"

"No, it's you and your fucking phone and me standing behind, watching you. Hell..." she started laughing, "I didn't know I had to book an appointment just to see you"

"You are overreacting now"

"Maybe I am... maybe you wanna hear me saying you're right, well, you're right Susan, I am overreacting, I'm sorry for holding you back when obviously you've got better things to do than spending time with me, I'm sorry that I thought we were that kind of a couple"

"Jesus Christ Jess! Do you hear yourself? I'm already pressured and this is your way for helping me?"

Jessica looked at her, fully dressed now, she lighted up a cigarette and chuckled, "It's been months, I've been helping you for months now, with Bernie, your kids, your house, your dogs, everything!"

"Wow, well, if you're gonna rub all this on my face why do it in the first place?"

"Because I love you, you idiot! Jesus!"

"Then accept the fact that I've got things to do, is that too much? I've been running behind you for months before this, can't you do the same or we're not the same? I really don't got time for your shit!"

"Fuck you, Susan," Jessica said and put out her cigarette, she stormed out of the room, leaving Susan behind, she closed her eyes and tried to calm down.

"I'm done, I'm done trying, God, what a fool I was!"

"You think that running after the ones you love makes you a fool?"

"I don't know anymore"

"Calm down and tell me what happened"

"So, last night was wonderful, we talked, we slept together, it was wonderful until she had to leave again and as we were fighting she said that she doesn't have time for my shit, can you believe her?"

"That's all?"

"What else do you want?" Jessica said and lighted up a cigarette, she tucked her phone under her chin and lied on the couch

"You know she's gonna be back, that's how she is and that's when you gotta play your strong card"

"What if she's not? What if she's actually done with my shit?"

"What's stopping you from going?"

"Oh, no... hell no" she chuckled, "That's not happening"

"Then just wait, she's coming"

"And what's gonna happen after that? Huh? Stay together until her goddamn phone rings again? I'm telling you even when she has nothing to do she prefers being on that stupid thing instead of talking with me"

"But that's how she is and that's not gonna change now, Lady Lange"

"That's the point, she wasn't like that, everything started these past few months and since then it's like I'm invisible"

"Look, I can't talk right now, call me when she makes her move and then we'll think ways of changing how things are"

"Promise?"

Sarah chuckled, she took a minute and with a smile on her face she whispered, "You know I'd do anything to help you"

"Thank you"

"Bye now"

"Bye"

Jessica placed the phone on the coffee table across her and reached for her book, she wore her glasses and made herself more comfortable on the couch, she opened the book and several minutes passed without her eyes moving from the same page, she continued like until she closed her eyes as if it was possible for her to stay calm and focus on what she was reading. She shook her head in disappointment and eventually threw the book away letting it crush on the floor, "Fuck" she whispered and buried her face into her open palms.

Susan would definitely make the first move and there was no doubt but she had to wait, for how long, she didn't know. Yet she waited and waited until it was now dark outside and the beautiful chiming was replaced by the loud honkings out on the streets.

An old classic film was on the t.v. making the younger woman feel less lonely and with her glass filled with Vodka, she was now walking around the house, unable to find peace. Any minute now Susan could appear outside her door but still no sign of her.

She sighed and finally rested on the couch, she took a sip from her drink before placing it next to her and open her phone. A soft knock was heard and Jessica rushed to open, sure that it is Susan, and there she was.

Susan looked at her, they stood in silence when suddenly...

"I'm sorry"

"I'm sorry too"

"I... I was an asshole"

"Indeed" she replied and chuckled making Susan laugh

"I know I should've called first but I was heading home and... I had to say it"

"You can come in if you want"

"I want to but I left Penny alone, I got to give her her pills"

"Oh, yeah, right"

"Look, I kinda need to talk to you"

"About what?"

"Can I come in?"

"Don't you have to give Penny her pills?"

"Jess..." Susan said and gave her lover a look.

"Sure, come in" she replied and opened the door, Susan sat on the couch, waiting for Jessica to sit next to her but invalid, Jessica sat across her and crawled the ashtray to her side, taking a drag, "Go ahead"

"I can't help but think that I'm holding you back indeed"

"Cut to the chase, Sue"

Susan sighed, "Maybe it would be better if we split for a few months"

With that, Jessica chuckled, "And with that, you're not gonna be holding me back, huh?"

"I mean not split split, just you know..."

"No, I don't"

"Well, I can't explain it"

"Let me get this straight, you want us to be together, but when it comes to seeing each other it will depend on your schedule?"

"To be honest, yeah"

"Don't I have a word on that?"

"Jess, I can't do this anymore, running here and there and having you waiting for me"

"Oh gosh... I'm such a burden to you, aren't I?"

"This is not what I mean"

"Then what the fuck do you mean?" she yelled

"I just need a fucking break, alright?"

"From me..."

"I... no, it's not..."

"Oh no, that wasn't a question"

"I'm just... I'm not myself lately and I'm so..." she stopped when Jessica's phone started ringing, something that surprised them both when it was Susan's phone that was ringing most of the time. Jessica picked it up, her last chance to caught Susan's attention... Sarah.

"Hey"

"You sound calm, did she come?"

"Um... yeah"

"Oh, what happened? Everything's alright?"

Suddenly she started laughing, "No... not at all, don't say that"

"What? Are you drunk?"

"No, I'm not" she chuckled, Susan was looking at her, confused

"Okay... so what happened?"

"Well, as we said, tomorrow night, at nine, I'll be waiting for you"

"God, she's there, right?"

"Yeah, I'll cook"

"Alright Lady Lange, At nine it is then, see you tomorrow"

"Oh no, now it's not a good time but we'll talk later, okay?"

"Okay, bye now"

"Bye," she said and let the phone on the table, she reached for her glass and took a sip, looking at Susan. Eventually, she sighed and finally broke the silence, "You can go now"

"Who was on the phone?"

"Sarah..."

"Oh, she's coming tomorrow"

"Well, last night was canceled so..."

"You're unbelievable, Jess"

"What's the matter?"

"You know how I feel about her!"

"Well, you know how I feel about her as well!"

"Oh, do I?"

"We're on a break aren't we?"

"That doesn't mean you can fuck her"

"I can do whatever I want, at least she's still crazy about me!"

"I'm crazy about you too"

"Yeah, I can tell," she chuckled

"So you're not denying it"

"Deny what?"

"That you two are fucking each other"

Jessica puckered up her lips and looked at her, "Susan, get out"

"I'm not leaving until you say it"

"Say what? That for months now I was standing next to you, day by day without receiving anything, not even a look, that I had to beg in order for you to touch me or even kiss me? And yes, when I needed you the most you weren't there but Sarah was, she was there reminding me that I still matter as a woman, that it wasn't my fault that we weren't having sex or we weren't even talking"

"Did she do anything else to you though?"

Jessica shook her head, "What do you care? I can see it in your eyes that things have changed just say it"

Susan looked at her, unable to talk, she tried to hide her feelings once again and let her head fall forward, with her hair covering her face she whispered, "I'm empty... I don't know if that's a phase that I'm going through or that's how things are gonna be from now but I don't feel anything"

"See, it wasn't that bad..." she said and wiped her tears off her face, Susan looked at her, not knowing what to do, she continued, "I'm sorry"

"What do you feel when you look at me?"

"Nothing..."

"So last night, when you said you love me, what was that, a lie?"

"I do love you, I love you more than I love myself and I know I'm gonna regret everything but..."

Jessica cut her short, "You don't love me, Sue, you just got used to it, and it's gonna be hard in the beginning but you're gonna get through it"

"What about you?"

"I'm gonna get through it as well"

"No, do you love me?"

"More than you can imagine"

They stood in silence for several minutes until Susan stood up, "I better leave now"

Jessica followed her to the door and chuckled, "Good thing I don't have anything at your place"

Susan tried to laugh, "I'm gonna miss you"

"You're gonna be just fine"

Susan smiled and looked at her. She capped her face and wiped Jessica's tears using her thumbs, slowly she approached her, her lips just a few inches away from Jessica. Susan closed her eyes, feeling her lover's warm breath before pulling her into a deep kiss. She felt Jessica's tears running down on her own chin and stopped, taking a step back. Jessica closed her eyes and licked her lips, bitting them eventually, she whispered, "Goodnight"

Susan nodded and opened the door.

"Jessica...Jessica!" Sarah shouted, looking at Jessica who was sitting on the couch, with her eyes glued on the table

"What?"

"Stand up, you've got to get ready"

"What for? She's not coming..." she whispered and lied on the couch

"Oh, she is, believe me, she is... we've got to set the table too"

"I think I'll pass"

"Come on, you know her, she didn't mean any of the things she said, it's a phase just like she said, she can't live without you and the same goes for you"

"Okay."

"Come on! Stand up!"

"Jesus!" she shouted and stood up, "Fine! But if she doesn't I'm gonna fucking kill you"

"For real?"

"For real!" she said and walk into the bedroom.

Several hours passed and Susan was still not coming, both women were now sitting on the couch with Jessica crying and Sarah trying to calm her. Eventually, Sarah leaned on Jessica's shoulder and closed her eyes, something that didn't bother the older woman as she was still talking and when she was least expecting it, Susan knocked softly on her door. Jessica looked at the door, scared and then looked at Sarah who was sleeping like a baby. She slowly rose up from the couch and went to answer the door. Finding her lover wasted, a crying mess.

"Did you fuck her?" she shouted and went inside, she stopped in front of Sarah "You fucked her!"

"Shut your god damn mouth!" Jessica whispered

"What the fuck is going on?" she said and touched the empty pizza boxes on the coffee table while looking at the dining romantic table

"Let's go inside..." she suggested and started walking into the kitchen with Susan following her

"Wake her up"

"I'm not gonna wake her up"

"Then explain to me what's going on?"

"You're stupid that's what's going on!"

"Huh?"

"This was all a set up for God's sake!"

"Huh?"

"God! There's nothing going on between me and her, I needed something to caught your attention!"

"Huh?"

"How drunk are you?"

"So drunk"

"Why are you here?"

"Remember back in Paris? When I... "

Jessica cut her short, "Yeah, I remember"

"I told you, I will never leave you, and I mean it, Jess, you're all I have"

"But you're not feeling the same, a lot of changed since then"

"That's because I can't even describe my feelings for you, it's not love that I feel, it's something greater, something bigger"

"You're just drunk, Sue, come on, go home"

"No, I mean it, Jess"

"Susan, please, go home"

"I'm not leaving"

"Why didn't I say yes that night?" she whispered and chuckled, finally she looked at her lover

"What?"

"We would've been married now"

"And maybe we would be still in Paris" she chuckled

"You'd stay there?"

"If you wanted to"

"That's nice"

"I'm not asking you to forgive me, Jess, I just need you to understand me. I know it's hard for you but the same goes for me. I don't wanna lose you, believe it or not you're my strength now. Be patient with me, would you?"

Jessica nodded and smiled

"Thank you," Susan continued and stared at her, "So it was all a set up..." she said and laughed, "You're such a good actress" she added making Jessica laugh

"I'm still learning"

"You'll catch up eventually..." Susan said and reached for Jessica's hand, pulling her closer

"Such a nice thing to say, Ms. Susan Sarandon"

"I'm a good actress as well" she wrapped her hands around Jessica's waist and smiled

"You're the best"

"Is that acting again?"

"No, I'm telling the truth"

"Oh, are you?" she said and started placing kisses on Jessica's jawline, nibbling her skin and making her laugh

"Come on, Sue, stop"

"Why?" she asked and spun them around, pinning Jessica on the counter and eventually lifting her to sit on it. She stood between Jessica's legs and continued kissing her, making her unable to stop laughing.

"Come on, baby"

Susan stopped and looked at her, "Baby? I like that"

"Susan not here"

"Why not?" she said and unbuttoned Jessica's pants, "You just have to be quiet, that's all..."

"And you think that's easy?"

"You could try," said Susan and slowly dragged Jessica's jeans down on her knees until she let it fall on the ground. "Come on, she's not gonna hear us" she continued and lowered herself, facing Jessica's center, she pushed to the side Jessica's panties.

"Susan, please... Ahhh, God" Jessica moaned when she felt her lover's tongue on her center, she rested her hands on Susan's head and whispered, "Please, stop..."

"That's nice..." Susan said and continued her actions

"Holy fuck!" Sarah shouted and immediately covered her eyes, turning around

"Fuck!" Jessica shouted. Susan immediately fell on top of her, trying to cover her, "Shit" she whispered

"I... um, Bye"

"Goodnight" Jessica shouted and then silence... the minute Sarah closed the door, Susan burst out laughing, "Fuck you, Susan, it's not funny!"

"God, I'm sorry, I know," she said and stopped, they shared a look and with that both started laughing.

"Jesus, Sarah, I've been calling you all night, what happened?" Holland asked her lover the minute she entered the house but no reply came from the younger woman. Sarah removed her coat and rushed to her side, pulling her into a deep kiss.

"Please let's go inside"

"What happened?"

"You're talking too much," Sarah said and started dragging her lover into the bedroom...
