035.

SCARLETT walked around the school fair, passing and picking up random flyers from different stands. She didn't really need to look at any other school, she knew where she wanted to go. UCLA had basically promised her a place and she was so excited to start there next fall. With gymnastics and the Sekai Taikai, she was pretty sure her parents weren't even going to have to spend a dime on her further education and she revelled in that knowledge, knowing that she— and mostly only herself— had gotten her to this point.

She saw Sam walking away from the boys and hurried to catch up with her, "Hey."

"Hi. What'd you get?" Sam asked, looking at the brochures in her hand.

"Oh, nothing. UCLA, obviously. Cornell. NYU. Berkley. You?"

"Just a few. Some near Stanford and others around here. I've got UCLA too, who knows we might end up going to the same school again."

Scarlett blanked for a moment before slipping a smile onto her face. "Right. How exciting." As Sam turned away, her smile gave away into irritation. Her sister had never expressed wanting to go to UCLA before; it had always been Scarlett's thing. So why, now, all of a sudden, did she want to go there?

She couldn't help but let her mind run wild as she thought of the possibilities. Her getting in and not Sam. Both of them getting in. Or the absolute hellish possibility— Sam getting in and not her.

Sam glanced at her, after having glanced down at her phone, "Miguel, Eli and Demetri are going to tour the University of the Valley after school, so we'll have the dojo to ourselves."

"That's great," she smiled. I'll see you later." Scarlett hurried off, finding Tory near her locker. "I have a problem. So I was looking at all the colleges, and then I saw Sam, and she said she picked up a UCLA flyer. Which is great, but UCLA has always been my thing. Why can't it stay that way?"

Tory looked at her panicked expression and rubbed her shoulder, "Okay, honey, calm down. Last year you basically got an offer. I'm sure you're going to get in."

"But what if I don't and she does? I think that'll actually crush me."

Tory knew she still struggled with that nagging feeling of Sam being better. After dealing with it all her life, it was kind of hard to get rid of. And just because her parents were aware of it and tried to stop, didn't mean all her past feelings about them were going to stop either.

"Calm down, you guys haven't even applied yet. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Scarlett breathed deeply and nodded. Robby approached them with a small smile, "Hey, what's up?"

"Just Letty's crushing doubts," Tory deadpanned.

Scarlett glared at her whilst Robby frowned, "What's the matter?"

"It's nothing. For now at least."

"Are you sure?" he asked in concern. Scarlett nodded, and he gave her a small smile and kissed her forehead.

"What's up with you, though, because you look terrible," Tory said, looking at the boy between them. The two looked at her in offence and she merely shrugged.

"The ceiling broke in Carmen's apartment this morning and a pipe burst with it, so they're staying with my dad and I. And the apartment is already time so..."

"I know what you mean," Tory muttered.

"If you guys ever need a place to stay you can always come to mine, you know that right? My parents will be happy to have you," Scarlett offered.

"I couldn't do that to you," Robby shook his head.

"Do what to me? Honestly, it's kind of a plus, I get to sneak you into my bedroom," Scarlett smirked, poking him softly in the ribs. Robby chuckled as Tory rolled her eyes with a fake gag, "Besides, as I said, my parents won't mind."

"I think I'll stick it out for now," Robby responded. The bell rang signalling the end of lunch and the three started to make their way to class. Tory walked ahead of them and Robby leaned down to whisper in Scarlett's ear, "But I will take you up on that offer sometime soon."

Saturday came around and the Diaz family was around at the LaRusso's, along with Robby and Johnny. They were setting up the baby shower for Johnny and Carmen and the teens were helping put things into place.

Scarlett raised a brow as Tory helped Sam to move a large vase fo flowers. "I don't think I'm ever gonna get used to that," Miguel commented from behind her, walking around with Robby.

"Better than when they were trying to tear each other's faces off," Robby responded.

"I think that was more normal," Scarlett snickered as she finished up arranging the food on the dining room table and turned to face the two.

Her mother called out, "Anthony, get down here! That little shit ate ever last cannoli.

"Sorry, Amanda-san. Had midnight snack," Chozen said, coming up to her.

Scarlett laughed, "So what are you hoping for Miguel?"

"I don't really care. I'm just happy that I'm getting a sibling," Miguel responded excitedly. He lanced at Robby, punching him playfully in the shoulder, "Another sibling."

"Aww, you two are so cute," Scarlett gushed, "Who would've thought you'd get along?"

She kissed her boyfriend on the cheek as the bell rang. The five teens waited for Daniel and Johnny to return as they talked before a large explosion sounded throughout the house. Scarlett frowned as she watched Johnny come into the room with pink paint splattered all over his clothes.

Carmen gasped, "The package came early."

"Guess it's a girl," Johnny shrugged.

"I can't wait to meet her," Carmen chuckled, embracing him, "And for her to meet her dad."

Roby walked toward his father with a large smile as he parted from Carmen, "I'm a girl dad. You're a girl brother," Johnny said, hugging his son.

"Where's Daniel?" Amanda asked.

"Oh, yeah, uh..."

Daniel walked in holding the box and pink paint all over him. Scarlett's jaw dropped as the group laughed and she immediately whipped out her phone, "Gold!"

"I told him not to move," Johnny defended.

"I'm too old for this shit," Daniel chuckled.
