Headaches
(A/N) So, what do you think? Secilia was one of the very first characters I made, she's not exactly conventionally powerful usually, but her ability to assimilate other kinds of magic into her system is pretty powerful. As for her getting used to the powers so quickly, she will still do the thing where she accidentally phases all the time, but she can control it better than Danny could.
Secilia grimaced suddenly, a hand on her head. "Ugh, my headache has gotten worse."
Jazz looked worried. "Are you okay? Should we head home?"
"You should probably go home," Ma'at agreed. "We have talked enough here."
"You ought to rest," C-354 agreed. "The absorption of the foreign magic into your system is taking a toll on your body. You need to sleep."
Secilia yawned, spreading the yawn to me, and then to Jazz.
"It's getting late, you should get home," Clockwork agreed.
Secilia nodded, standing up. She looked woozy for a second, then fainted. I caught her and adjusted her so I was holding her bridal style.
I nodded respectfully to the four Primordials, then flew through the portal C-354 had created, straight into Secilia's room.
I laid her on the bed, then dashed off to find her mom.
I grimaced, seeing Secilia lying, unconscious on the bed, her mother fussing over her. That probably wasn't good. She stirred slightly, startling me out of my thoughts.
"Ugh," she moaned softly, putting a hand to her head. "So, this is what being half EDC feels like."
"Jack and Maddie are coming," I warned, hearing their footsteps.
Secilia nodded, closing her eyes again as her mother drew her covers over her.
Aunt Amelia nodded once to me, and we backed out of the room. I almost ran straight into Maddie, who was approaching with a purpose.
"Oh, Maddie," Aunt Amelia said, steadying me. "Secilia's sleeping, I guess today really wore her out."
"Oh, of course. We were just going to tell her about the field trip."
"Which I will be chaperoning," Aunt Amelia said firmly. "I have a feeling you may need a doctor. I already talked to the head doctor at the hospital, and he agreed to allow me to join your field trip."
I slowly backed down the hallway until I got to my bedroom. I quickly darted inside, closing the door behind me. I turned around to find Secilia sitting on the floor. I jumped nearly ten feet in the air, a startled yelp leaving my lips.
"Whoah, shush, technically, I'm supposed to be asleep, remember?" She grinned at me, standing up. "These powers are cool, though using invisibility and intangibility at the same time is difficult."
"How did you-" I stuttered, amazed.
"Simple, I'm used to magic, I know how it feels, and more importantly, I know how to use it." Secilia shrugged, walking over to his desk, then walking straight through it. "Easy peasy."
"How did you- what?" I gaped, confused. I didn't have that kind of control that early in my time as a half ghost.
"Again, using magic is easy, well, harnessing it is."
"Whatever," I sulked. "Anyway, the top four kids in our class will go on a field trip to the ghost zone."
"So, I just need to be at the top of the class and I'm good?" Secilia asked, her head tilted to one side. I wondered briefly where she'd picked that up. "That shouldn't be too difficult."
"Not for you, you were completing stuff harder than my homework in half the time it took me to complete my homework." I sighed. She was a genius even then, I guessed that was probably unchanged.
"Well, I do have a photographic memory," Secilia pointed out, sitting down in my desk chair and looking at my homework. "You did this wrong." She pointed to one of the questions on my math homework.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sometimes, defeating ghosts comes in the way of getting my education." I snapped back.
"I was merely going to try and help you with your math homework. If I remember correctly, you are failing that class. Also, the way they're trying to make you do it is a terrible way. There is a much easier way." Secilia scribbled something on a spare piece of paper, handing it to me. "That way will work for all those problems, I'd use it." She grinned, turning invisible and walking off.
"So, I'm just supposed to plug in the correct equation?" I wondered to the empty room.
"Yeah, that's the general idea," Secilia's voice replied cheekily. "Did you need help sticking it in a calculator?"
"You're impossible," I said, annoyed.
"No, I'm Secilia Cross," she replied, reappearing. "Nice to meet you."
I grimaced at her, waving my paper at her. "Oh buzz off."
She stuck her tongue out at me and smirked. "See you tomorrow. I'll handle ghost attacks for tonight, you finish your homework." She tossed me one of the Fenton phones. "If I need help, I'll call, promise."
"I never agreed to this," I maintained.
"Are you preventing one more person we have to take care of from coming on this field trip or not?" She asked.
"Not, there's no way in the ghost zone I'll get my grade up in time," I replied, sitting down at my desk.
"Well, you can try," she said encouragingly. "Do your best, I'll see you tomorrow. Or later tonight if I need any help."
"You say that like you won't need help," I said suspiciously.
"Cause I won't," Secilia said firmly. "Also, what do you think of Spectre?"
"As a name?"
"Yes, did you really think I was just going to announce the new kid who's cousin has ghost hunters for parents is a ghost?" Secilia looked irritated and I backed down quickly.
"Yeah, I guess it's fine."
"Hm, if you back down that easily, remind me not to turn my glare on you," Secilia snickered, flying up through the ceiling.
I sighed, settling down to finish my homework, and correct the problem Secilia said was incorrect. She was almost always right, especially when it came to math and engineering. Ah well, it was probably good I was going on that field trip no matter what grade I got.
(A/N) Okay, almost done with revisions, all the field trip chapters will disappear, as the field trip has been relocated. It'll still happen, it's just going to happen later.
