(February 2016)

There she was. Again. In the corner of the small diner: book in hand, oblivious to the world around her. Sebastian had seen her a lot lately.

Everyday he had gone into the diner, getting his usual order of fries, burger, Pepsi and a muffin before making his way to his regular booth where he would carry on reading the comic that he had just bought from the store across the street.

He first spotted her after he had bought his first Deadpool comic. He had sat at the old, red leather cracked booth that smelt of years of milkshakes and fries and scanned around the family run diner that he had just discovered. No one here seemed to of recognised him, and for that he was happy. He had had enough of the constant swarming of the nosey paparazzi and the screaming fans that he adored yet grew tired of. There across the room, over on the opposite wall was her.

He became mesmerised by her blond locks that cascaded down her shoulders like a golden waterfall.  The way that the afternoon light shone through the diner's large widows along the western wall made it look as though she was sporting a halo. To Sebastian she was. She was an angel.

When the waitress walked over to her table she lifted her head, meeting Seb's eyes for half a second. But in that fraction of a moment, Sebastian felt like he had drowned in her happy, charming, carefree bluey-green eyes. The girl spoke politely to the waitress before returning her attention to her red, leather bound book; but not before meeting Sebastian's eyes once again, causing a thousand butterflies to erupt in his stomach.

Every time after then, whenever Seb went into that little diner, to the south east of Central Park, he saw her. Sitting in the same booth opposite the entrance, drinking the same flavour of milkshake, eating the same type of burger, the one independent variable being the book she was reading.

After seeing her a few times, Sebastian bought the book that he had saw her read, but when he saw her at the diner again, she was on a different book. This happened every time, with each book being of completely unrelated genres and authors which made it impossible to determine the next book to be read.

What Sebastian didn't notice was that every time he started reading the book that the girl had just finished, she would smirk slightly to herself. She knew his game as she had caught on to what he was doing after the forth or so book. She noticed how he always bought the same brand of cola, and ate the same type of panini and muffin and sat at the same booth on the wall of the entrance. Her confidant was the diner's youngest waitress called Lola. Every time Lola came over to get her never changing order, the two would secretly converse about the mystery man at booth 3.

"I have a feeling that he likes you." Lola said as she wrote the order, that she knew off by heart, down on her notepad. "Really? I hadn't noticed." The girl rolled her eyes. "He's hot. I'd totally tap that." She winked mischievously, but the thing was, she wasn't lying. "I guess that he's pretty cute". The girl nodded. "He is more than pretty cute. That man is so damn hot that i wouldn't be surprised if I found out that he is the cause of global warming ." Lola paused a second. "That guy has such sharp cheekbones that even Benedict Cumberbatch is jealous". The girl laughed. "Uh huh." "Why don't you go over to him". Lola hinted. "I will, I'm just waiting for the right time."

So a month passed and the two were still only giving each other discreet glances from opposite sides of the diner.

This all changed on a Wednesday afternoon.

Sebastian walked in holding the book that the girl had been seen reading the previous day. He knew that she had probably finished it and was on another book but it was too late to end the tradition now. But as he glanced at her as he walked in, he noticed something strange, she was still reading the same book. His eyes widened as he noticed a Pepsi, a chicken and cheese panini and a blueberry muffin on the opposite side of the table in her booth. On his normal booth was also a note.

Hello there.
I bought you lunch. Come on over if you want.
I don't bite... Well not often.
~The girl in booth 8.

He looked up at the girl and deeply swallowed before heading over to her booth and sitting down opposite her. "You shouldn't have bought me lunch." He said to break the wall of silence. "And you shouldn't of bought all my favourite books." She quirked an eyebrow as he blushed embarrassed. "You spotted that huh?" She nodded. "I kinda caught on when I saw you reading The Kite Runner straight after The Book Thief." She laughed softly, a sound that was velvet to Sebastian's ears.

"So what's your name?" She asked as she took a sip from her milkshake. "Sebastian Stan. And you?" "Hmmmmm I'm not sure if I should say." She teased. "Tell him you byotch". Lola whisper/yelled as she walked past, giving Seb a grin before taking the orders of two women two booths away, whom were obviously having their first date from the awkward chatter that followed the simple question of "what you like?"

"I think I deserve to know your name, I mean I did just buy and read 20 of your favourite books." He took a sip from his Pepsi. "You read them? All of them?" She said a gasp. "Uh huh". He said proudly. "Sophia." She smiled. "That's a pretty name. It suits an intelligent, witty and stunning person as yourself." He charmed. "Oh Mr Stan, I believe that you are causing one to blush rather heavily." She said in a posh English accent. "Oh well I apologise my fair lady, I was merely describing the wonder before my very eyes." He countered. "You're almost as smooth as Leo DiCaprio in Catch me if you can." Sophia laughed. "What do you mean almost?" Seb narrowed his eyes. "Well Mr Stan, you gotta up your game if you wanna beat Ol' Leo."

"Is that a challenge?" He smirked. "Only if you want it to be." She replied, mimicking his actions.

She looked at her watch and stood up.

"Oh how the time flys. Well I guess that I'll be seeing you tomorrow then Mr Stan. Oh and the book will be Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier. I'm sure that you'll be familiar with it." She cheekily winked before swaggering towards the exit.

"See you tomorrow then Sophia, and maybe I'll be the one paying for lunch. Chicken New Yorker and a strawberry milkshake - if I'm not mistaken."

"Spot on Stan. I'm looking forward to it."

And with that, a relationship of banter, humour and unconditional love was born.
