Hard Times- Sebastian Stan

So this is the first chapter to a book I'm making? I hope you enjoy!

Also if you will want to follow this story, the rest of it will be posted in its separate form, not in the imagines book. Thanks!

ALICE.

I looked at my phone one last time before boarding the airplane. 3:24 a.m.

"Shit," I sighed to myself as I rubbed my eyes. I shook my head to shake me of my tired state. It didn't work.

I walked through the tunnel to the plane as my mind wandered. I rubbed my eyes again to try and keep myself awake and my thoughts elsewhere, but I couldn't get them off him.

No sleep, I thought to myself. I can't sleep.

I reached the plane and was greeted by a flight attendant's toothy smile.

"Welcome aboard! Enjoy your flight to Atlanta," she boomed at me. I smiled tiredly back and moved around her to the aisle of seats. I clutched my carry-on closer to me as I squeezed through the aisle of seats. I felt the gaze of tired eyes glaring at me, daring me to sit next to them. I would break eye contact and look away, not wanting to gain the attention of anyone. I wanted to remain unnoticed as much as possible. I didn't know who he knew and didn't know.

I caught a glimpse of a pair of empty seats and took my chance. "Thank you," I whispered as I looked up to the heavens, not speaking to anyone in particular.

I reached up and set my carry on in the overhead bin and felt my loose tank top slide up slightly. A pair of eyes were on me. A man who was behind the seat I chose stared greedily at the skin that showed, causing me to shrink into my seat after setting my bag in the overhead bin.

I chose the seat by the window so I could take my mind off of everything. Everything, what a word. Everything, everything, everything. Everything didn't even come close to being what's wrong. It was him. It was all him.

The smell was everywhere. The house reeked of it.

"Alice? Alice, is that you?" I heard from the other room. Matt, a friend of my one and only, didn't even give me time to respond, he appeared in the doorway to the living room immediately after he asked. "Yes, it is," Matt responded with a smirk as he leaned on the doorway. He bit his lip and looked me up and down, the stench of marijuana and alcohol reeking off of him.

"Hello to you, too, Matt," I said, setting a bag of groceries I had bought on the countertop.

"Austin's been missing you," he murmured as he walked closer to me, his arms crossed over his chest. I backed up slowly until I was pressed against the counter. "He's not the only one," he whispered in my ear as he placed his arms on either side of me. I felt him against my stomach and I began trembling.

"Matt, you're drunk and high," I whispered with a hint of fear in my voice.

"And?" He whispered as he bit my ear. I gulped as he moved a piece of my hair back with his hand. "That just makes it more fun."

"Please, stop," I said as my voice trembled. "Austin will be pissed."

"I don't care what that faggot thinks," Matt snapped. His eyes then blazed for a moment as a crazy smile took it's form, only to disappear in an instant. He became more calm as he buried his face in my neck and murmured, "I want you, Alice. I want you so fucking much." He grinded against me and I whimpered, a tear sliding down my cheek.

"Matt, stop. Please," I whispered as more tears spilled.

A quiet laugh came from the doorway to the kitchen. I craned my neck to see Austin standing there, leaning against the doorway smiling and chewing on a twizzler. He shook his head and laughed quietly.

"Austin?" I asked softly, raising an eyebrow at him. The smell of alcohol and weed radiated off of him, as well.

"You already know how this ends, Alice," he said as he glared at me as he walked towards me. "Wake up."

   "Miss? Is anyone sitting here?"

My head jerked up from the awkward position it had been resting against my arm which was leaned on the plane window. My neck ached as I looked in the direction the voice had come from. A man, somewhere in his thirties I assumed, looked at me with kind and questioning eyes.

"I'm sorry to disturb you," he murmured as he looked at me with pleading eyes.

"It's fine. And yes- I mean no. No one is sitting there. You can have it," I muttered as I turned my head to look forward as I rubbed my neck.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw him smile quickly and stuff his bag in the overhead bin. I couldn't help myself when his shirt rode up- I looked. He was definitely an avid gym-goer.

"Um," he murmured as he motioned towards my purse that was in the seat beside me. He laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head.

"Oh, right. Sorry," I smiled quickly as I grabbed my purse and sat it between my feet.

"Thanks," he beamed. He began sitting in his seat as he confessed, "My mama always told me not to mess with another woman's purse."

I smiled in a knowing way and he smiled back. He then proceeded to hit his head against the overhead bin as he leaned down, causing me to giggle. He cursed and sat in his seat, which was the aisle one.

I laughed for maybe too long because he seemed somewhat embarrassed. "I'm sorry," I chortled.

"It's fine," he giggled. "Anything to make a pretty girl laugh."

"That's the first time I've laughed in a while, actually," I murmured to myself, barely audible for him to hear.

"And why's that?" He asked curiously.

I looked to the seat in front of me and kept my eyes trained on it as my thoughts floated around the dream I had had, or more so a memory. "It's nothing," I whispered. I faked a smile and looked back to the man, who I deemed wasn't that bad looking. Then again neither was Austin.

"Well whatever it is is stupid for not going out of their way to hit their head and make you laugh," he said as he smiled.

I smiled and shook my head. "You went out of your way to do that?"

He smiled and shook his head. "That's what I'd prefer you to think." He winked at me as he popped a piece of gum in his mouth. "Want one?" He offered.

"No thanks," I passed. He nodded his head and set the pack back in his pocket.

He reached out his hand and said with a smile, "My name's Sebastian."

I took his hand cautiously and, not knowing if he was associated with Austin or not, gave him a fake name. "Tori. My name's Tori."

"Well, Tori, it's a pleasure to be seated with you at 3:48 a.m. on a oneway plane to Atlanta, Georgia," he joked as he shook my hand.

   "You, too, Sebastian."
