□■Steve : Song■□
This is another 'because I can'
Song used is The Gambler by Fun.
Slow down, we've got time left to be lazy
All the kids have bloomed from babies into flowers in our eyes
We've got fifty good years left to spend out in the garden
I don't care to beg your pardon
We should live
Until we die
You sat on the couch next to your long time husband, Steve, reflecting on your life, smiling at each memory.
We were barely eighteen
When we crossed collective hearts
It was dark, but it got warm when you barely crossed my eye
You turned, put out your hand, and you asked me to dance
I knew nothing of romance, but it was love at second sight.
You might not have been eighteen, but Steve did ask you to dance when you met for the second time. The first was outside the restaurant/dancefloor, the second on the dancefloor. He was such a cutie, no idea how to deal with women, and you had to teach him how to dance.
I swear when I grow up, I won't just buy you a rose
I will buy the flower shop and you'll never be lonely
Even if the sun stops rising up over the fields
I will not leave
I will not leave till its our time
So just take my hand you know that I will never leave you side
Steve remembers that dance, causing a grin to find its way to his face. You had looked so beautiful, and he promised to keep loving you forever. He promised to never leave you, as he did so many others.
it was the winter of 86
All the fields had frozen over
So we moved to Arizona to save our only son
Now he's grown into a man
Though he thinks just like his mother
He believes we're all just lovers
He sees hope in everyone
And even though she moved away we always get calls from our daughter
She has eyes just like her father
They are blue when skies are grey
And just like him, she never stops
Never takes the day for granted
Works for everything that's handed to her
Never once complained
You had two children, James Grant Rogers, (named after Bucky and Steve) and Margaret Y/M/N Rogers, (Named after Peggy and you). They were both wonderful, hard working children. James is a musician, conveying his thoughts through music. Margaret is working up to being the CEO of a major company, pouring herself into work and family equally.
And you think the I nearly lost you
When the doctors tried to take you away
Like the time you held my hand by the fire
Thirty years ago to this day
You'd swore you'd be here till we decide that it's our time
But it's not time, you never quit in all your life
So just take my hand and know that I will never leave your side
You're the love of my life know that I will never leave your side
This horrible days when you got sick. When the cancer hit. Luckily, you caught it early, but the chemotherapy and radiation took a toll on you, leaving your bad weak and frail. Steve sang these words to you while you were resting, sobbing everytime.
You come home from work
And you kiss me on the eye
You curse the dog, you say I should never feed him what is ours
We went out to the garden
Look at everything we've grown
Now the kids are coming home
So I can set the table,
And you can make the fire.
After surviving you fight with cancer, Steve retired, handing the sheild over to a younger hero, and the two of you live out your days in you quaint house, your garden out back blooming every year.
It's a love that never ends.
