Sebastian Imagine - High School AU
But that picture. He's a little Romanian puppy.
Um, in this, there's death... so if you've dealt with something like this, I'm sorry if I scare you or bring back unwanted memories.
You fiddled with the end of your sleeves as your math teacher called out the seating chart. The first day of school, and you were already being seated by the people you were going to have to deal with for the rest of your junior year.
"(Y/N) (Y/L/N)." The teacher called, and you began to walk towards the desk as she called out the names of the people who were sitting next to you.
"Sebastian Stan. Lillian Jacobson." She said, making two more people walk towards the desk you were now sitting at. You smiled lightly at Lillian, a quiet girl who didn't talk to anybody. Even if you asked her a question. Sebastian, on the other hand, was a low key guy, but a social butterfly.
You, on the other hand, we're the type of person that cannot approach somebody, but if they're the ones to talk to you, you could become great friends.
Seeing Sebastian's face made you want to be his friend. Face it, he has a really nice face.
He pulled out the chair next to you and sat down, flashing a small smile your way, which you returned. An uncomfortable silence fell over the class as the teacher droned on about pre-calculous.

"Do you get any of this?" Sebastian asked you when the teacher let you have time to work on your homework for the last ten minutes of class.
"Yeah. Sort of." You replied, shrugging.
"Can you help me at all?"
"Yeah. What do you not get?"
"This." He pointed to his empty homework page. "All of it."
You chuckled, then began to explain the complicated math, wishing for the easy days when multiplication was the new thing to learn.
"You good now?" You asked when he worked out one of his own problems.
"Yeah. Yeah, actually, I think I've got it!" He exclaimed, proud of himself. You chuckled at his excitment, making him glance up at you. He met your eyes, a small smile gracing his lips. Your breath hitched on your throat as you realized how close you really were to him.
You both fell immediately.

You and Sebastian grew close over the next few months, hanging out at your house, at the park near his. Your parents absolutely loved him, and welcomed him with open arms. His mother loved you, and welcomed you as well. All was great.
Until it happened.
You were coming back from the grocery store with your parents, talking about how busy your dad was with his job as a realitor.
A car swerved, knocked into yours, made it tumble, resulting in tragedy.
Your life was now a mixed drink, one part fine and two parts tragedy.

You walk into your math class with your head down, keeping your mind as clear as possible. You couldn't think of the crash. You couldn't continue to curse the drunk driver under your breath without breaking down. You had to stay strong. You had to make it through this. You could do this.
You looked up to see Sebastian's sapphire eyes looking into yours, a beam on his face.
You almost lost it there.
You hustled to your seat, trying to ignore the empty feeling in your chest. You sat and pulled out your notebook, willing yourself not to cry.
"Hey, you okay?" Sebastian asked. You felt a tear escape your eye.
"Damn it." You muttered, hastily wiping it away. "May I use the restroom?" You asked the teacher, who huffed, but nodded her head yes. You quickly jumped up and practically ran from the room, only barely making it near the bathrooms before breaking down.
Sebastian waited anxiously in his seat, and after you didn't come back for seven minutes, he raised his hand and asked to leave as well. The teacher almost flipped out, but obliged. Sebastian hurried just as you did, into the hall, already able to hear your muffled sobs.
He ran down the hall, turning the corner to find you crumpled on the floor, crying into your knees.
"(Y/N)," He said, sitting beside you. "Come on, what's wrong?" He tried to break you out of your shell. You lifted your head and looked into Seb's eyes with your red, puffy ones. He could see how broken and hurt you were, and felt his heart break for you.
"What happened?" He whispered, putting his hands on the sides of your face. "Please let me help."
You shook your head, unable to recount what happened. He sighed and pulled you into his chest, letting his broken heartbeat soothe you. You sobs died down to small whimpers, still nestled into Sebastian's chest.
"I'm..." You sniffled. "I-Im an orphan n-now." You could feel Sebastian tense for a second, then his heart slowed.
"Oh my god." He whispered, unable to beleive it, much like you. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry." His voice broke as he let the information sink in. The two people who welcomed him so nicely, the two people that loved him even if they barely knew him, the two people he looked up to like parents- gone.
"I'm so sorry, (Y/N)." He let his head drop to your neck, small tears of his own trailing down his cheeks.
"Please don't cry." You begged, unable to see him so hurt.
"O-Okay." He said, sniffiling. He tried to be stronger for you, it was what you needed.
"We'll get through this, (Y/N). I promise we will." He said, determined.
"Thank you, Sebastian." You replied quietly.
"Anytime." He forced a smile and kissed the top of your head, trying to ignore how broken he truly felt inside.
