Jefferson : Requested

Imagine getting married to Jefferson.
Requested by RoxanneDevon77

I do have a list of requests, so be prepared for a lot of updates!

He could still remember when he first met you. When he first saw your face. He'd remembered it from the village, in the other land, but couldn't recall a name to go with it. He remembered thinking how you looked so determined, mad even, trying to snatch that silly apple off the highest branch.

He could see why you weren't giving up, since you had already managed to climb your way up the tree, only an inch away from grasping the fruit. Why you had chosen the top apple, he has yet to know.

"Are you okay up there?" He called, setting down his basket of mushrooms.

"I'm... all.. right." You said, your voice strained from reaching and stretching.

It happened in a flash, the branch breaking, you simply grabbing another while you fell, then landing gracefully after climbing back down, taking a bite of the bright red apple in your hands.

"I like your hat." You said, winking at him before walking away. He smiled at you, not knowing if he thought you were insane or incredible. He eventually knew he thought both.

The second time he saw you was back in the woods, while he was picking berries.

"The hat man." You said from behind him, making him jump and turn around, relaxing when he saw you, eating yet another apple.

"The tree girl." He echoed. "It's Jefferson."

You just chuckled and threw the apple core behind your shoulder, extending your other hand towards him. He looked quizzically between your hand and you, raising an eyebrow.

"Come on, hat man." You teased, a smirk pulling at your lips. He hesitantly put his hand in yours, then smiled when you began to drag him along, running through the woods with him close behind.

"Where are we going?" He asked, slightly breathless.

"Patience is a virtue, Jefferson!" You called back, not even looking over your shoulder.

Suddenly, the trees gave way to an open field, only the size of a small house, with daisies and dandelions blooming from the soft earth, peeking above the tall grass.

You looked back at Jefferson, smiling when you saw his widened eyes and open mouth. You chuckled and raised your skirt slightly before trekking into the grass, the tips of the blades brushing your knees.

"Beautiful, don't you think?" You asked, running your fingers along the petals of a flower.

"Marvelous." He said, almost breathlessly.

The two of you sat and talked, but mostly you. You told him of your daily adventure, doing crazy things like climbing trees or hiking mountains or finding the clearing in the woods. He was fascinated with you, and, unbeknownst to him at the time, was falling in love with you.

I wasn't until he had to return home was he sad. He didn't want you to leave, and you didn't want him to leave, either.

"Just a while longer?" You asked again.

"I'm sorry, I have to pick up Grace." He apologized, breaking through the tree line and walking towards the village.

"Well, then I'll see you around, Jefferson." You said, extending your hand to shake. He took it and shook it gently, locking his gaze on yours.

"Goodbye." He said quietly.

You began to walk away, then, when you were a good two yards away from him, he remembered something.

"Can I know you're name?" He called to you. You turned and smiled at him.

"Until next time, hat man." You said with a smirk, walking backwards a few steps before turning and walking away.

"Until next time, tree girl." He said to himself, watching you until your figure disappeared into the horizon.

But there wasn't a next time. Not long after his encounter, the queen came to visit.

And we all know how that ended.

Grace never knew why she would find basket of apples on her doorstep.

The curse came, and everyone was stuck. But it wasn't the curse that made him seclude himself and hide away. It was the knowledge. Knowing how the people he loved were living a lie, and how nothing he could do would fix it.

He had given up hope, until a small knock came on the door.

He let the fabric and needle fall from him calloused fingertips and onto the table, raising from his chair and sighing deeply. He walked from the room, his footsteps making a thud on the ground, taking care to close the door behind him.

He walked to the door and looked through the peephole, almost groaning when he saw the back of a head.

"The least you can do is let me see your face. Damn these stupid holes." He grumbled, unlocking the deadbolt and opening the door.

"How may I help you?" He asked, not caring how rude he sounded. The person turned around, making Jefferson's heart skip a beat.

It was you. His tree girl. He tried to keep his shocked expression from showing too much.

"Hey. I'm sorry for bothering you, but, I was hiking and I fell and..." You pointed to your left knee, which had blood trailing down your leg. "...yeah."

"Um. Uh, c-come in." He stuttered, opening the door wider and gesturing you inside.

The night went on, with Jefferson patching up your knee while you sat on the counter, you having tea and a conversation with him, then you having to leave.

You stood on his porch, thanking him again before heading down the steps.

"Wait!" He called. You stopped and turned to him. "Can I know your name?"

"Until next time, Jefferson." You smirked and walked back to the town. Jefferson stood in his doorway and smiled to himself.

"Until next time, tree girl."

You continued to show up at his door, seeing how your adventurous side clashed with your clumsiness. The second time, it was a sprained wrist.

"How did you manage this?" Jefferson asked while he wrapped your wrist.

"I was climbing a tree." You stated. It made Jefferson pause momentarily, but he resumed wrapping your wrist. Once he was finished, you hopped off his counter and went for the door.

"Will you tell me your name yet?" He asked as you opened the door.

"It'll cost you." You teased.

"How much?"

"Dinner. A movie." You flirted, then shrugged.

"Done." He said back, walking close to you and taking your injured hand and kissing your knuckles. "How does tomorrow sound?"

"Tomorrow sounds great." You said softly before continuing out the door.

He smiled and watched you go.

"And Jefferson?" You said from the bottom of the porch steps. He looked to you with his eyebrows raised.

"Call me (Y/N)." You said, smirking and walking away. Jefferson let your name sink in. (Y/N). Beautiful.

He did take you out on a date. And many more. And then, he proposed out in the woods, where you injured yourself so often. The curse was broken, not only bringing Grace back to him, but his tree girl as well.

Now, you stand in front of him, tears in your eyes.

"(Y/F/N), do you take Jefferson to be your husband?"

"I do."

"Jefferson, do you-"

"I do, I do." He says quickly, earning a light laugh from the crowd.

"You may kiss the bride."

He sweeps you up in his arms and kisses you passionately, all of his pain and suffering from the knowledge and remembrance gone. You pull away for air, smiling.

"I love you, tree girl."

"I love you, hat man."
