Bucky- Requested
Imagine saving Bucky
Requested by anarnianlullaby
"I'll be right back, doll." Bucky said, pecking your cheek quickly before heading towards the elevator doors.
"Woah, woah. Where are you going?" You asked. You were assigned to keep an eye on him after his memories were restored- one year ago. Within that year, you had both developed strong feelings toward each other, but were too scared of rejection to say anything.
"Just running around the block really quick." He replied. You gave him a stern look.
"Come on," He begged, "please?" He gave you the most adorable puppy eyes you've ever seen, and you immediately cracked.
"You need to be back in 10 minutes, Buck." You said, tapping your wrist.
"Thank you! You're the best!" He called as he exited to room. You chuckled and sat on the couch, pulling out a book and reading.
***time skip five minutes brought to you by your phone having a home screen of Bucky, and being judged by everyone because of it. Oh well.***
Your phone began to ring, pulling you away from your book to look at it. It was Bucky.
"Hello?" You said.
"(Y/N)!" He said, sounding out of breath.
"Bucky! Where are you?!" You said, standing from the couch and running to the elevator.
"I'm running back to the tower! Have the elevator open!"
"Okay hurry!"
You rode the elevator to the bottom floor, holding it open with your arm as you waited for Bucky. You could feel your heart race, worrying of what could've been chasing him.
Bucky's figure rounded the corner and ran into the building, past you, and nearly smacking against the elevator wall. You removed your arm and repeatedly pushed the button to close the doors, which finally closed.
Bucky leaned against the wall and breathed heavily, holding his chest.
"What is going on?" You said.
"HYDRA." Was his reply. You didn't ask for anything more; you didn't need to.
"Are you okay?" You asked quietly. He nodded, and stood from leaning against the wall. You wrapped your arms around him, burying your nose into the shoulder of his black sweatshirt. He hugged you back, putting his face in your shoulder as well.
"I was worried about you." You said, your voice muffled by his shirt.
"I'm okay, doll." He replied, running his fingers through your hair.
Suddenly, the elevator stopped, the lights flickering. A loud thud came from the ceiling, making you grab onto Bucky's jacket even more.
A panel in the ceiling moved, three men jumping down into the elevator. Bucky pushed you behind him and began fighting the men, yelling and grunting whenever he threw a punch.
You took on one of them, karate chopping his neck, but you weren't strong enough, and he was too strong, so it didn't work. He took you by your hair and yanked you to him, spinning you and pressing a dagger onto your neck.
"Stop!" He shouted. Bucky and the other two men turned towards you.
"Let her go." Bucky said, his voice filled with venom.
"An eye for an eye, soldier." The man teased. Bucky sighed and looked at you sadly, then slowly raising his hands in surrender.
"No!" You tried to shout, but was cut off by the man gripping you tighter. They pressed the button for the lobby, cuffing Bucky's wrists while the elevator rode down.
You kept your eyes on Bucky's the entire time. He looked sorry, which was crazy, since he was saving your life. You could feel a couple tears roll down your cheeks.
"Say goodbye." One of the men growled as you stood in the elevator, watching Bucky be taken away.
"I love you." He said, before being shoved out of the building. You cried out, tears rolling down your cheeks, and fell to the ground.
That killed you.
You didn't even get to say it back.
You didn't tell him you loved him too.
"No!" You shout, clutching your chest as the elevator doors closed. "Come back, Bucky!"
***time skip brought to you by whispering Hail HYDRA in someone's ear when you hug them. The reaction is priceless***
You ran. Faster than you ever had. You felt the adrenaline and determination flowing through your veins, your grip tight on your handguns as you stormed the HYDRA base.
You shot down one agent after the other, letting your pain and anger from the past month take over your morales.
You wanted HYDRA to bleed.
"Where is he?!" You shouted at an agent. He held up his hands and shook slightly.
"L-Left corrid-dor." He stuttered.
"Thank you." You said sweetly and decked him in the face, knocking him out cold. You continued through the base, eventually running out of bullets and settling on a crowbar you found lying around.
"(Y/N)?! Where are you?!" Steve barked into your ear. The rest of the Avengers were still taking their strategic route through the base, whereas you just killed anything in your way.
"I'm completing a mission, Steve. You should try it sometime." You said back, shutting off your earpeice.
You came to a hall with a steel door at the end, a large red star painted on it. Your heart began to race as you went towards it, your feet moving faster and faster until your hands were on the knob.
You inhaled deeply and slowly opened it, revealing a brightly lit room, a steel table in the middle with a man laying on top of it.
You snuck in silently, keeping your eyes on the man.
Once you saw a glint off his left arm, you knew it was him.
Bucky.
You rushed forward, taking in the scar now on his right cheekbone, the red puffy slashed across his stomach from what looked to be a whip, and the slow rise and fall of his chest, his breathing shaky.
"Bucky." You whispered, placing a delicate hand on his cheek. He snapped awake and took your wrist, the bones crunching under his metal grip. You cried out, looking into his eyes.
They were empty, then turned into the eyes you were used to, the eyes you loved.
He let go of your wrist, moving his hands to the side of your face, tracing your jaw and lips, trying to beleive you were there.
"Is this a dream?" He asked quietly.
"No, Buck." You bit your lip to keep from crying out in pain from your shattered wrist. He noticed your discomfort and his eyes went wide.
"Oh god. I'm so sorry-"
You cut him off by putting your index finger on his lips.
"It's fine. All that matters is that you're okay."
He nodded slowly.
"I have something I've been wanting to tell you." You said.
He raised his eyebrows, hinting at you to continue.
You lend forward and placed your lips on his, gently. His lips were soft and sweet, the kiss everything you had imagined. It wasn't rushed and rough, it was slow and savored. You wanted him with you for so long, it didn't take much to make the kiss passionate.
You pulled away and smiled slightly.
"I love you, too."
