CHAPTER XX: You Amused me Ms. Mcfeller
The world around me seemed to stop, my brain stutters for a moment and my eyes looked at the screen in front of me, every part of me goes on pause. After a wash of cold, I bolted upright from my seat, the table makes a banging sound that made the other customers turned their heads towards my direction.
"Sorry", I apologetically said and turned to look at the two ladies before me who are now staring at me with their raised eyebrows.
I smiled sheepishly at them before grabbing my bag and scrambled to my feet a little clumsily making me drop the fork that I had used catching the attention of some of the customers near us yet again I apologetically smiled at them and put the fork back to its place before standing up again.
"Are you okay?" Illyria asked with such a soft voice, her eyes showed the kind of gentle concern she always have as my older sister. She laid her hands on my shoulder to help me steady myself.
"Huh? Oh! Of course I am okay! I just need to go now." I said, finally regaining my balance and steadied myself.
"Why are you such in a hurry? Is something wrong?" Isla asked, her face and tone also showed concern as she spoke.
"No, nothing's wrong. There is an emergency from the office and I really have to go now. I am sorry girls, catch you up later!" I exclaimed, bolting myself out from the restaurant and literally run towards the office not bothering to hail a cab.
I was getting nearer at the company when suddenly, I stumbled.
I stopped and looked down at the broken heel of my pumps. I groaned aloud and throw my hands in exasperation.
Well, my luck. Thank you.
I stood there in the middle of the road with my hands on my hips, looking down at my broken pumps debating whether I should just let it be or took it off when a loud honk brought me out of my own debate.
I sighed and bent down to remove both of my pumps. With naked feet, I straightened up and muttered an "okay" before continuing my running marathon towards the CazoS Enterprise building that is standing proudly tall in front of me.
The building were crowded with people, and the chaos was so perfect, like a movie. There are a group of people that I bumped into when I entered as I run through the crowded people to get to the office but I just uttered a quick sorry without stopping.
Once I arrived at the office, I knocked on his double doors with both my heels on my left hand.
"Come in" I heard his husky voice. Hearing it was now normal for me, I poked my head inside and looked around. He was sitting in his seat, typing something on his laptop. I entered the room and stand in front of him, I cleared my throat.
"I know you are in here, Ms. Mcfeller." He said averting his eyes towards me.
"You were looking for me sir?" I said, throwing him my questioning gaze.
"Ahhhh, yes." He draws out, stopping whatever he was doing and lean his chin on his folded hands looking at me.
"And, where were you, Ms. Mcfeller?" He said, raising his perfectly arched eyebrow.
"Oh! Uh, I was out having my lunch." I said nonchalantly, but I am fidgeting down on my toes.
"Is that so Ms. Mcfeller?" He replied, repositioning himself so now he was leaning on his seat with both of his hands folded to his chest and looking at me with his challenging eyes still raising an eyebrow at me.
"Yes, sir" I quickly said now feeling anxious and uncomfortable at the way he was looking at me.
He turned off his laptop and stood up.
He stares at me deeply as he walk towards me, making me take a step back.
He strides closer, his eyes focused intently on me. I stumble backwards, feeling the cold wall press against my back.
He stops inches away from me, forcing me to stare at his ocean blue eyes. I was enthralled by them, luring me in.
"W-w-what are you doing?" My throat went dry as I spoke, his figure closing in. His scent made it even harder to think straight, a mix of fresh pine and smoky wood was all I could breath in.
He does not answer and leans in closer to me, I could have gotten lost in his eyes, he tilted his head as the light shadowed the side of his face.
"You amuse me, Ms. Mcfeller" He whispered. His lips grazing my cheek, making me feel his hot minty breath in my face. I stood there, dazed by our proximity.
"W-what do you mean, sir?" I stuttered, placing my hands on his chest to prevent him from leaning in more closer.
I am already uncomfortable by the way he was looking at me and now, he is standing in front of me with only an inch away, our face almost touches.
"What I mean is that, you amused me by the way that you have the guts to challenge my patience and even went out without my permission." He spoke in an imposing voice as he slide one of his arms around my abdomen, presently confining me in with no way to escape from his hold.
I wriggle at his grip, attempting to have an exit plan yet without much of any result, it made him tightened his grip.
I stood there, having no way out from his grip, letting my hands curled up into a ball. His white button up shirt slightly got wrinkled
He pulled back slowly, staring, unflinching. "Do not go looking too deep, you will regret it once you find what I am hiding behind it." I heard the door close, and he was gone.
I sighed out of relief the second he was out of the workplace and out of my sight.
When I recapture my mental stability, I move in an opposite direction from the wall and went to the couch to sit since the disturbance that had happened some time prior caused me to feel mixed up.
