VIVIAN AND HER SISTERS HAD BEEN taught by their mother to stay out of trouble from a very early age. Of course, they had learned of the vampires and werewolves that roamed the area — and of the feud between the two groups — however knowledge of this also came with keeping one promise: to never interfere.

It's a promise Vivian has always believed to be pretty simple. Why should she want to interfere with a rivalry that's been going on for God knows how long? She has no loyalty to either sides — nor would she benefit from helping either sides with her siren abilities. Not even when she's in her human form and she's going to school or working her job at the local café does she have any connections with them. And it's how she likes it — if keeping a quiet life means avoiding a few select people in both Forks and La Push, then whatever. Vivian can't find a problem with it.

Or... couldn't find a problem with it. Up until now, at least.

Because Vivian breaks her promise without even realising it when rescuing a cliff jumper from a dangerous landing one evening — not having any idea that it's one of the La Push shapeshifters — and also having no idea that she's blowing her entire cover. But how is she supposed to know? All she sees is a person struggling and immediately falls into the depths of her own saviour complex — her first thought when a person is drowning isn't gonna be 'oh, shit, I should probably avoid them, they could be one of the very few supernatural beings from this area' — realistically, would it be anybody's?

Nevertheless, saving one of these wolves from drowning somehow leads to her getting dragged right into the middle of this goddamn feud — and yet, soon there's a part of Vivian that's questioning whether staying away from 'The Others' — as her mother liked to call them — really is what's best for her. Regardless of the dangers her mother warned her about, and regardless of the fact that she's, quite literally, a fish out of water in a brand new territory, surrounded by vampires and werewolves.

She wants to make her own mind up about them, despite her mother's opinion. After all — her father always said, 'only dead fish swim with the current'.

(Although, Jacob Black and his confusing mixed-signals are enough to make Vivian want to throw herself back into the current and never resurface)

But that's a whole other mess...

AAAAAaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! I'm very very excited for this story, I just wanted to mention that this fic is intertwined with two other Twilight fics of mine — Clueless & Hocus Pocus! Therefore there will be very small plot changes and some mentions of my other OCs — but you do not have to read them to understand this (although if you did I would v much appreciate it 🩷🥰🫶)
