CHAPTER - 8

- In the night at KGF....

The moonlight drenched KGF in a silvery glow as the masked men infiltrated the mansion, their movements swift and silent. Cloaked in brown and blending seamlessly with the shadows, their presence was nearly undetectable.

At their helm, a lone figure stood apart—a man clad in a sleek black leather jacket, his white-laced mask barely concealing the sharp gleam of his golden-brown eyes.

A faint smirk tugged at his lips as he surveyed the mansion, its imposing façade standing unguarded or so it seemed. His confidence swelled.

- Adam!

He murmured, his voice low and commanding.

Adam - Yes, boss?

Adam replied at his side, already clutching a sleek silenced firearm.

- Take care of the guards. Make it clean.

Adam grinned wickedly, nodding to his team. They moved like wraiths, dispatching the guards with precision.

The faint phfft of the gunfire echoed, bodies crumpling soundlessly into the guards.

Inside the mansion, the man groaned at the piled up paper work as Kasim brought a cup of tea and placed it on the file.

- I never knew Anna was having to take care of this much work.

Kasim chuckled and ruffled his hair.

Kasim - Rocky always knew how to finish it, it is isn't easy to take care of  a kingdom is it, Farmaan?

Farmaan who gulped down the tea in one go, sighed and nodded at the elder's words.

Kasim - When is he returning? It is isn't good with him gone for long.

Farmaan - Tomorrow. And don't worry, nobody knows that he's out of town and I'm trying my best to sound like him-

His chuckles stopped mid-way as Kasim frowned.

Kasim - What's wrong?

Farmaan leaned to his side, his ears on full alert. The moment he heard the muffled shots, he moved with purpose.

He was a man who had earned his position through loyalty and skill, and tonight, he had one task: Protect the mansion and Reena.

Farmaan - Warn the guards, Chacha. We have some uninvited guests.

He whispered as Kasim widened his eyes and rushed out, to get everything ready.

Farmaan - And here I thought I can have a day off.

He caught sight of the intruders in the grand hall and immediately blocked their path. His dark eyes locked onto the man with a mixture of disdain and defiance.

Farmaan - You shouldn't be here.

He said, his voice calm but firm. The man chuckled darkly.

- Ah, Farmaan.

He said with mock amusement.

- I wasn't expecting you. Shouldn't you be.....elsewhere?

Farmaan - I could ask you the same thing.....You want more after last time?

The man sighed, almost regretfully.

- Maybe I do?

The man smirked, and in a flash, he lunged forward, his fist aimed at Farmaan's face. Farmaan blocked the strike with his forearm, using the momentum to twist and land a solid blow to the man's ribs.

The man groaned but quickly recovered, sidestepping and swinging a kick at Farmaan. He rolled with the punch, narrowly avoiding the hit before he delivered a punch at the man's abdomen.

For a moment, the two men circled each other, each sizing the other up, their movements fluid and deliberate.

The man moved like a shadow, his strikes fast and sharp, while Farmaan's defense was tight, his experience showing in his calculated counters.

But his smile never faltered. With a swift motion, he grabbed Farmaan's arm and twisted it behind his back, using his superior strength to force him to the ground.

- You're good...

The man whispered, his voice low, his face inched from Farmaan.

- But you're not good enough.

Just as they were about to clash again, a sudden shot rang out from the hallway. Both men paused, their attention shifting toward the source of the sound.

Adam and the other men had arrived, their own fight with the guards consuming the hallway.

As Adam lunged at Farmaan with a swift strike, Farmaan parried the blow and countered with a punch to Adam's gut, but Adam recovered quickly, using his dagger to slash at Farmaan's side.

Farmaan grunted in pain, sidestepping just in time, before launching a forceful kick that sent Adam stumbling back.

Before Adam could regain his footing, Farmaan took a step toward him, but a faint sound from the corridor caught his attention.

Farmaan - Shit!

The grand door creaked softly as he entered, his eyes scanning the dimly lit space. Reena lay peacefully on her bed, her features illuminated by the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through the curtains.

For a moment, the man hesitated. He hadn't expected that he might actually get to see her, be in the same existence as she was. Yet there she was, her serene expression pulling at something deep within him.

He paused, his golden-brown eyes softening as he watched her. The way the moonlight caught her features made her seem almost untouchable, as if she existed in a world far from his reach.

His breath caught for a brief second, and a twinge of something unfamiliar flickered in his chest.

He stepped closer, his gaze fixed on her peaceful expression. His hand moved almost instinctively, hovering near her cheek, as if caught between the desire to touch and the knowledge that it was impossible.

But he stopped himself, his fingers lingering in the air, then retreating as if aware of the weight of the moment.

- I thought I lost you that day.....

He continued, his voice barely above a whisper.

- When it happened....I believed you were gone. I thought the world had taken everything from me.

His voice cracked for a moment, the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air.

- But you were alive....You were trapped and I never knew....But not anymore.....I'll make sure you can spread your wings...My Luna.

He whispered, his eyes filled with love, the rugged lines on his face disappeared instead a gentle blow placed all over it as he watched her in deep slumber.

. . .

The woman stood at the doorway, her gaze cold and hard just like her brother as she watched the scene in front of her.

Her fingers curled into fists at her sides, a deep resentment burning in her chests.

Woman - She doesn't deserve him. She never has.

? - You really think you can just walk in here and take her from him?

The man froze, his head snapping toward the door. The woman stood in the doorway, her posture straight, her expression cold and calculating.

In her hand, she casually twirled a dagger, the blade glinting ominously under the soft moonlight. The rhythmic clicking of her heels on the marble floor echoed throughout the room, each step more deliberate than the last, as she slowly advanced toward him.

? - She wouldn't wake up for now.....probably has to do something with the tea she had before...But one never knows.

She whispered, her voice like a venomous hiss.

-Had she been drugged ?

The thought screamed in his mind. She approached him slowly, the dagger dancing between her fingers like a lethal extension of herself.

? - You've always been foolish.....Thinking you can waltz in here and claim what's his.

The man smirked clearly unfazed but wary.

- She's not his to claim, Aadhya Bhairya.

Her eyes widened, knowing that he knew her identity. The one she tried so hard to keep it a secret. But she didn't let that get to her.

Aadhya - You've always thought that, haven't you? And now you think you can just take her from my brother, from me? You're not even worthy of being in the same room as her.

The man's eyes flashed with anger as he scoffed.

- That pretty mouth of yours is running wild little princess...

With a swift motion, he attempted to grab her wrist, but she twisted out of his hold, landing a sharp elbow to his side. The impact made him stagger, but he regained his footing quickly, his rage growing.

- You think I'm going to let a brat like you stop me?

He  lunged again, his strength and speed pushing her back as she struggled to maintain her ground. With a sickening growl, he lifted her higher, his gaze hardening.

- I'm not leaving until I have her.

But before he could slam her to the floor, a quiet, almost imperceptible sound broke through the tension, a rush of air followed by a swift, silent punch.

He staggered, his hand flying to his face in shock. Aadhya disoriented and thrown off balance, fell to the floor, but before she could hit the ground, she was caught—strong arms wrapping around her, pulling her safely against him.

The man looked behind, trying to see who's the owner of the hand that knocked him down. He smirked.

- How am I going to get rid of you?
