Chapter 10
"Oi. Get up."
Sky gasped as he bolted up right, breathing as if he had just run a marathon. He rubbed his remaining his eye with his hand before removing it. To his horror, he was no longer in the forest. He was in the murky moor had had been trapped in while Blood Red was in control. However, Blood Red was standing over him with an expression that showed he was just as surprised to see Sky as he was.
"What's going on?" Sky demanded, panic rising inside him. "Why am I here? I thought we had a deal!"
"I don't want to be here anymore than you do," growled the Lucario threateningly. "Something's not right... I should have control here but it's gone..."
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying this is someone else's world. The question is, who's world is it?"
"How did this happen?" The young man asked, wincing as he tried to stand. "I don't remember much... I must've fallen asleep..."
"No surprise there," Blood Red sneered. "Always showing such weakness."
"Excuse me, I was running for my life for hours! I can't just stick in someone else's head and catch a ride!"
"I was the one doing the fighting you little piece of-"
"What such delicious hostility. I never thought you would be so amusing, or, should I perhaps say you two?"
The voice was a whisper like a breeze. A cold breeze that stung like ice. Both human and Lucario were staring at each other, speechless. Sky was more shocked to see the Lucario glance around fearfully. Now they were both completely out of their element.
"Who's there?" Sky called to the wind, choosing to be the braver half.
There was silence. Sky almost thought that maybe they both imagined the voice, but it blew their way again.
"I have many names," cooed the wind. "The Wings of Oblivion, the Cocoon of Death, the Pokémon of Destruction, among a few. I believe you know me by a different name."
His heart thumped rapidly against his rib cage as he answered in an exhale, "Yveltal."
"So, you have heard of me! I'm flattered, for I too have heard of you, Kalos Madman."
"Who cares about titles!" Blood Red roared furiously as he regained his voice. "Show yourself and face us like a man!"
"Blood Red, that is what they call you, correct? I must admit, I'd be a little offended if I had such a ghastly name. You truly are an interesting aura."
"What do you want?" Sky called as the Lucario growled threateningly. "Why did you bring us here?"
The fog and mist suddenly began to move, twisting and turning to the center of the cemetery. It began to form into a beast. A monster. The trainer and aura creature both retreated a few feet as the winged Pokémon flung the shell of smoke off it like dust. It's aura blue eyes pierced through the smog and stared the two down to the soul.
"I see we're cutting straight to the chase, as you humans say these days," Yveltal growled in a low dark tone. "I've heard a lot about you two. The story of the Kalos Madman had reached even me. A young boy, fighting off others boys and even grown men with the strength of a wild beast. You've certainly grown, as a man and in strength."
The large bird-like dragon Pokémon shifted its clawed wings as it settled on the ground before continuing on, "I am aware of the Aura Guardians, especially the Dark Aura Guardians. You could say that they are apart of my domain. I keep watch over them, watching their power grow. You have stood out above them all. You're different, even among the black sheep."
"Meaning?"
Yveltal's lips curled into a sneer and replied, "You genuinely care for people. Even Blood Red here has a sliver of compassion inside deep down underneath the hate and anger. It's not something you see in Dark Aura Guardians, who are most often hard, cold, and spiteful. They don't love very easily."
"You make that sound like it's a bad thing!" Sky snapped with annoyance. "You sound disappointed, so why are you even talking to us?"
"As I said, Dark Aura Guardians are my domain. I know about the human organization calling themselves Team Flare. I know about the weapon, and how they plan to power it."
Both Sky and the Lucario looked at each other, exchanging expressions full of meaning. No one had been told of what Blood Red discovered, except for Leia, and that was only yesterday.
"How do you know about that?" Blood Red questioned harshly. "Are you spying on us?"
"A Pokemon of my standing has subjects, you know," Yveltal answered, sounding a little offended. "I lost a few to Team Flare. I thought they died, but a few returned unscathed. They managed to find out more information on the organizations plans while in their custody. I suppose I should be thanking you for allowing them safe passage."
"So you are in Kalos! You've been close at hand all this time!"
"Don't insult me, I'm unreachable! No matter how hard they try, they'll never find me! I've been hiding since I learned they were searching for me. I fled to a location only a trusted select few could reach, so believe me when I say I'm nowhere near you."
"But they won't stop looking for us!" Sky contradicted furiously. "Have you seen what they've been doing?! They won't stop until they get what they want, and that's to see this region fall! You're a legendary, you're in charge of this region, it's your duty to protect it! So what are you doing to stop them?!"
Yveltal's nostrils flared as it raised its head high and snarled, "You're an insolent child! Do you think I would risk bringing you here over nothing?"
The creature lowered its head swiftly so its face was a mere foot away from Sky's face before continuing in a growl, "You and I are more alike than you may realize. I came here because overall, I need you. But I need a real Aura Guardian, not an infant with power just exploding out of him! The two of you are not in balance, one of you still holds more power than the other."
"So what are you suggesting?"
"I'll give you a point in the right direction. Your answers lie in the place where your healing truly began. Where wars ended, and unity began. Once you find that location, you will find the ones to teach you balance. By the way, I'd appreciate it if you kept this meeting under wraps. Humans and Pokémon alike are wary enough of Dark Aura Guardians, you wouldn't do yourself any favors by blabbing that Yveltal came to visit."
Yveltal suddenly spread its clawed wings and aggressively took off from the ground and into the dark black and red sky. Blood Red howled with frustration and tried to leap after it, but it was already too late. The second Yveltal lifted off, everything began fading away.
*~*~*
"Sky!"
Sky opened his eye to find Leia kneeling over him with a very concerned expression on her face. He grunted as he tried pushing himself off the ground and sit up to look at her. The dark and depressing forest was looming over them once more, just as it always had been.
"I'm sorry... did something happen?" he asked groggily while he rubbed his one eye with his hand.
"No, I just...you were talking in your sleep," Leia began awkwardly, running her hands through her long brown hair. "It was...well, you weren't acting normal..."
"What do you mean?"
"You...never mind," She finished hurriedly. "It was nothing, you're ok that's all that matters. Were you dreaming? Was it a nightmare?"
"Yeah, you could say that," he answered slowly. "Bound to happen eventually after everything that's been going on. How long have you been up?"
Leia looked rather sheepish as she responded, "Oh, well... a few hours. I didn't really sleep..."
There was a small silence before Sky told her seriously, "Leia, if you were that nervous, I could've taken the watch instead."
"No you couldn't! You drained so much of your energy yesterday, I couldn't ask you to do that! It's just...even though you had Jo Jo watch, I felt I should stay up in case something happened."
"Make sense, but I wouldn't let anything like that happen again. Actually, where is Jo Jo anyway?"
As if waiting on cue, the Galvantula suddenly fell from the tree branches above with a squeal of delight and landed right on his chest. All the air was knocked out of his lungs and collapsed under his Pokémon's weight. Leia burst out laughing as Sky struggled to push Jo Jo off while the Bug-Type continued to cling playfully. The Galvantula had refused to go back in her pokeball after they checked on their Pokémon. She had always been the clingy one of his Pokémon.
"And I didn't more back pains..." He wheezed as Jo Jo finally crawled off him and began to nuzzle her head against his cheek affectionately. "I guess I should be glad one of you guys still likes me..."
While all of Leia's Pokémon had been happy to see her again, Sky's weren't all pleased with him. Shane in particular was not speaking to him because of the events of the evening where Blood Red took control. The Gallade was giving Sky the cold shoulder, and Sky was under the impression that he had told the other Pokémon like Aero the Aerodactyl and Pip the Empoleon, who had not been around during his time in Kalos, of his second personality. Jo Jo and Junior, who had been with Sky since the beginning, were the only ones besides Scotty to not fear him.
"She's just missed you, we all have," Leia told him softly while patting the Galvantula's head. "Just give the others time. This has been hard on everyone."
She paused before speaking up questioningly, "I've been meaning to ask you, what are we going to do now? We don't know where we are, and we have no way to reach the others."
Sky didn't answer. He was thinking over his dream, or vision, whatever it was that happened during his sleep. Yveltal had said they had to go to a place where wars ended and unity began. It was the place where they would find a way for him and Blood Red to finally become balanced.
Where his healing first started...
A place where wars ended and unity began...
"I had a thought about that," Sky started slowly, straightening up once again and looking at his companion seriously. "Before all this for out of control, White and I were going to visits a tribe of Pokémon in northern Kalos. Ray, White's Lucario of the time, had traveled there when I first lost control to Blood Red. He brought three tribes of Psychic and Fighting Types together and they blended into one big tribe. I was supposed to go there with Ray when I was old enough to learn to control my powers. I think it's time I go and find them."
Leia looked startled at this new piece of information and replied nervously, "But...do you know where that is? Is it really the time to go on a wild goose chase?"
"I know where the tribe is, but it's hidden from what I know. We'll need Ringdog's help, this tribe is specifically circled around aura. I think we can make it. Besides, Team Flare wants my power, and while I have the control I have over it is only temporary. I know these Pokémon can help!"
"But the others-"
"Leia, I'm sure they will be ok! White is tough, and she and her brother can take care of each other now. Mira and the others, if they are indeed still together, they'll be fine without us awhile longer. We need to worry about ourselves. We have to keep moving, avoid Team Flare. If we're caught, I don't think we'll escape again, and we already know that they could use my power to destroy at least half the region. You have to trust me on this, because I can safely say I can't do any of this without you!"
Leia bit her lip nervously, clearly thinking over everything he said. He could understand her desire to find the others. He too wanted to find them, to keep them safe, but he knew they would never be safe while he was around. The only way he could protect them was staying away, like he should have done ages ago. He didn't trust Yveltal, but they unfortunately had shared interests and plans. He had no other options.
Finally Leia looked him back in the eye before saying quietly, "Alright, I think I understand... and I'll do it, for you. But the place you want to go, we still don't know how to get there from here!"
Sky thought for a moment before replying with a small smirk, "I think I know how to find it."
(P.S. I'm making it a law that Yveltal sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch)
