03 :: Car Crash

The moment I screamed, I felt the car running into some pole. My brain stopped working, and I squeezed my hands tight. I could feel the car starting to lose its balance and hurl over, when a pair of hands threw me off my position. The kindest of breeze seemed to echo words of cruelty.

I experienced my body landing on the moist grass. After a heavy 60 seconds, I realised that I survived the crash and that Jimin had pushed me off my seat. But he?

The sudden eruption of a cataclysmic thought in my analytical information processing apparatus, in simple terms, called the brain; scrunched my heart.
I shot my eyes open and spotted the raging fire in the dried bushes, where our car layed motionless and badly hampered. I blinked at the sight with an aching heart.

I tried to move and felt my knee burning. It was bruised and the blood oozed out, trickling my skin. Nevertheless, I pulled myself to get up and look for Jimin. He couldn't die and leave my niece, eonnie and me.

"Oppa-yah!" I screamed on the top of my lungs in search of a the least possible response.

"Oppa-yah!" My voice echoed in the empty highway and the cold breeze roared along with it.

"Y/n-ah!" I heard his cracking voice but the uncertainty of my vision showed me no signs of any life except mine.

"Oppa? Where are you?"

"Bridge! I'm hanging on the bridge!"

"Bridge? I can't see you!"

"TURN YOUR FLASHLIGHT ON!" I stumbled on my feet but turned the flashlight on to look around.

"Here!" He waved his hand with much difficulty to catch my eyes. His other hand had clenched on the girder of the bridge, hardly keeping his body from falling in the river.

"Help me!" He begged for me to pull him. I tried to grab his free hand but my height barely managed to touch his hands. If I bent any more, I'd fall with him.

"Wait! I'll call Yunhua's dad!" I dialed inspector Jang and informed him of our situation. The police station wasn't far from our location.

Jimin was struggling to keep himself on the girder. I don't think he'll manage before the police arrives and I can't risk that. But I'm helpless.

"Y/n-ah!" He was breathing heavily.

"You can't keep up. Y/n-ah, idiot do something!" I screeched my frustration out on me, pulling my hair to the extent that it may come off.

"Idea!" I exhaled warm breaths and ran to the place I fell down with my bag. I looked for it. It could help me reach him if only it doesn't tear off. I quickly emptied the bag and ran to throw it towards him.

"Hold it!" Jimin looked at me with a vacillating vigilance but eventually gave into my plan.

"Oomph!" He raised his bleeding hands, trying to get hold of the bag.

"You won't manage picking me." Jimin's voice couldn't accept the fate, I wasn't letting come true so soon.

"You are gonna be shut and raise your hand once more for me to grab!" He hesitated, imagining me to fall with him but my glare made him try again.

Let us fall together but not alone.

"Yes... A little more, Un Poco Mas!" I encouraged him to keep trying in several languages. If only his hands were a little less little!

"Argh!" He groaned at the last try and the bag's strap tore off, but that was enough for me to touch his hands.

"Pull!" I held his single hand with both my hands and my whole body strength. He kicked his legs to gain support on the girder. I heard the police sirens approaching us and that was somewhat of a relief.

"Hold on!" The squad of policemen ran to our rescue and helped me pull Jimin.

He reached the top, making us both fall on our butt first. He was soaked in sweat and streams of blood, that oozed from his arm when it stroke with the broken concrete.

"Oppa? Your arm!" I hugged his arm, which was bleeding.

"I'm fine. Thanks. But... Your bag fell down." Jimin got up on his feet. The fire brigade was holding the hose pipe and trying to put off the fire and the media was already there to live telecast the whole thing.

The mob of reporters and journalists encircled around us as the police ER did our first aid. Neither of us had any severe injury but the car was in ruins.

Inspector Jang's team pushed the journalists from crowding around us while he shouted at the Road Management for the poor lighting.

"Detective Park, you okay?" Jimin calmed his breath and smiled at Inspector Jang.

"Yes sir. I'm okay, thanks to my sister." The inspector looked at me with curious eyes. He has known me since I was a child, as Yunhua's friend, but never knew Jimin as my brother, because he spent his major twenties training for becoming a professional detective.

"Y/n is your sister? Wow! I didn't know that. I'm so sorry that the road management has neglected such an integral part about the road..."

"No! It wasn't fully because of the lighting. Something heavy fell upon the hood of the car. That is why we lost our control. I think I saw a face." I remember the view my eyes registered before I shut them.

"Huh? Face? But who would come here, ma'am? The city is on the opposite side."

"I know, inspector. But I'm sure I saw a face. A tampered face with... With rope or chain like marks." I said.

"Ma'am, I think you're mistaking..."

"No, sir! I have also seen a face. I know. That fell upon the windshield and I couldn't see the direction my car rolled. That's why I hit the pole. I couldn't catch a better glimpse of whatever it was because I had to save ourselves. Although I can bet that the body or head thing fell in the water." Jimin interrupted the inspector and even though he could think I hallucinated, Jimin couldn't be wrong.

"Umm... We should check the river bed asap!" Said inspector Jang.

"Thank you, sir." Jimin saluted the inspector, who mirrored him, and ushered us to the police jeep. The lady officers had collected my disheveled stuff on the ground and arranged it in a police pouch. They were driving us to our home.

I rested my head on Jimin's shoulder, knowing how mad saeonnie was gonna be on us and that I had a huge job of saving him with my niece.

The jeep dropped us infront of our house. Jimin walked to the door with cautious steps. He's afraid of his wife. And I low-key like that.

"Dami..." He called her as the bell rang. The door opened but it wasn't whom we expected. It was Sena, Jimin's daughter.

"Sena? Baby, where's mama?" Jimin bent down to pick up his 3 year old and whispered in her ears, audible enough for me to hear.

"Mama is in the kitchen. I saw you in the TV. Mama told me to tell you two to get changed and meet her on the table. How's your hand?" Sena copy pasted everything her mum asked her to tell.

"You know what happened to my hand?" Jimin cooed in her ears and beckoned me to go before him, rather security check for him.

"You fell down the bridge. And then you injured it." She said.

"I did. Are you hurt to see my injury?"

"Nope! I'm a strong baby, but you are hurt so it pains me a little as well." Jimin snuggled his nose on her neck, earning a giggle from him. I chortled at him and Sena, and walked to my room. Saeonnie looked at me and I nodded to her, knowing how mad yet concerned she is for her husband.

I threw the police pouch on the chair and sat down infront of the mirror, to have a look on my wound. I hadn't injured as much as I thought I had.

I carefully washed my body and the area near my wound with antiseptic and came out of the bathroom. I layed my body flat on my fluffy bed and stared at the ceiling, trying to remember the face I saw.

It was burnt, or atleast a part of it was. I saw rope or chain like marks, which could have meant that the body was dragged before dying or hanged. But why would the face burn?

"Ugh!" I punched my pillow. I tossed around my bed and felt a pair of eyes watching me.

"Who's it?" I got up and looked at the door to be greeted by a small mochi with whiskers on her cheeks, peeping at me.

"Come here, Sena." The toddler hopped to me and I picked her up. I understand why Jimin likes hugging her so much.

"Mama called you for dinner." She pecked my cheek and I carried her to the dinner table.

Dami Saeonnie and Jimin were already seated there and I joined the table along with their daughter. We ate the dinner quietly, both us siblings sparing eachother some occasional scared glances.

"Off to bed everyone." Commanded Dami as she took away our plates.

"O-okay..." Stammered Jimin.

"Wait! Oppa, before you go, can you please send me the pictures you were talking off? Anhyun's." I requested.

"Y-yeah. My phone's scratched. I'll have to get it fixed." He tapped on his screen, selecting all the photos he took, to share with me.

"Sent." He announced.

"Thanks, yeah I can see... Wait... Oppa, is this what you saw before crashing?" I passed him my well conditioned phone.

"When did you click this?" He asked me.

"I don't know. It was in my hand all the time. I think I took burst shots." I said, unaware of its presence myself.

"This is... Horrible. Isn't this Jo Bumjoon?" He passed me the phone.

I squinted my eyes for a better look of the partially hazy images and realised Jimin was indeed right. It was Jo Bumjoon, the International Olympiad of Science and Engineering Champion for 5 consecutive years. He was supposed to receive the prestigious Pride of Nation Award tomorrow in the blue house.

"What is it?" Sena grabbed my phone from me, and the first thing my brain instructed me, was to change the photo to a cute group photo, where Anhyun was still alive.

"My friends. This is Bumjoon." I said, pointing at Jaechan. She was easy to convince and I heaved a sigh and proceeded towards my bed as Saeonnie gave me her intense glare. She is the "Park Pack's" mum.

Jimin got up from the chair, progressing to run away from Dami but was interrupted by a phone call from DIG Kim.

"Yes sir? Yeh, yeah! Yeah I'm okay. Yes, she's okay as well. Mhm... Hmm... Yes. I'm incharge of the investigation. Huh? What? Stop it? But... Oh, okay... Okay sir. But won't that be unfair... Alright. Yes sir. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Thank you. Yeh, goodnight."

The colours on Jimin's face vanished with every word he spoke and heard.

Dami asked Jimin,"What's it?"

"DIG Kim has legally stopped me from leading the investigation." My mouth fell open.

"Why?" I blurted out.

"I don't know. He said I can't do it anymore. Mr. Jung has lawfully closed the case because it's a declared suicide."

"But... The points we noted. That... That's not a suicide."

"That's not a suicide. I'm sure." He proclaimed.

"Then it'll be abandoned? The murderer will go away?" My lips quivered at the thought of never being able to avenge Anhyun.

"I don't know. I can't do it. I'm lawfully closed on the case. The department has shut this case. I can't help."

"It's unfair." His upset lips curved into a smirk as I almost wailed.

"I know. I can't do it legally, but I needn't stop you. Lead the Search..."

Excited much,
Y'all?

Do comment and lemme know how you feel of this book.

Dedicated to dynamic_dream

I'll dedicate some chapters to some of my most loved readers because this time were not doing cameos.
And here goes the first dedication!

And before you correct

"I saw you in the TV"

Lemme tell you, it was a kid saying that, and the grammar error is intentional.

The story has partially begun
Just how the blurb declares, there will be 3 deaths and it's your duty to find out the criminal(s) along with our detectives.

I apologize for being late, I was just a little overwhelmed with procrastination.

(Word Count: 2129)
Kay bye!!
