01 :: Crime Scene
"What?" I abruptly jerked my body from my chair. Junghoon looked at him with disbelieving eyes and chuckled.
"C'mon man, I'm never opposed to you pulling my leg but don't joke about someone's life, damn!" He shrugged his head with a mocking disappointment.
"I'm not kidding, Hoonie! Anhyun committed suicide just some minutes ago! You hear those sirens?" He pointed outside at the road. "They are here because she jumped off from her window."
"Huh?" I looked at him. His eyes and expression didn't seem to be just making fun. He was speaking the way as if his whole life depended on it.
"I'm serious damn! Just come with me." We looked at eachother, sparing a minute for mind linking, and started running with Yunhua to the crime scene.

"Ish!" Seohi squeezed her eyes shut at the horrific condition.
Anhyun had jumped off the 18th floor and the reaction force hit her hard. Her whole face was scratched and she lay there in a puddle of blood.
"Hoonie..." I looked back at the man, who had fallen on his knees. He was transfixed at the motionless lump on the cemented pavement.
He turned his swollen, red gaze at me and mummed his cry, which I could understand, wanted to scream.
This was not the right time. I beckoned the rest to take him away from there, as I turned to stare at the body.
The police had sealed the crime spot and a huge crowd of students had gathered around it. The police were busy pushing them aside.
I spotted Detective Park Jimin, my brother, standing there with the Dean of the Group of The Universities, who was crying his heart out.
Mr. Jung, loved Anhyun more than himself and everyone in the city knew, how much he adored her. She had a life of princess, with whole freedom. She had a life like any other 14 year old, free of any worry or stress.
She was his princess.
"Mr. Jung, please hold yourself. It's a very tragic incident and me being a father of an infant daughter, I can understand your condition." Jimin mumbled words of consolation in his ears.
Junior Assistant Doctor of the Forensic Criminology department, Choi Yeonjun, had arrived with his team. They examined the evidence and drew around the body's position.
I was pretty short, compared to the 5'10 and over, boys in front of me that I had to reach a higher pavilion to see the body.
I walked to the statue of Lady Justicia and got up on her pedestal. It was pretty high but the distance made it hazy for me. The zooming of the camera was making it more blurry.
For some reason, Anhyun's body posture felt like as if she wasn't the one to jump, rather someone who pushed her off.
Choi Yeonjun's team walked past me to their laboratory. Yeonjun was walking behind them. He gave me an awkward look as he spotted me.
He was probably judging my unusual tries.
I shrugged the thought of looking like a clown, and squeezed my eyes harder.
"Yah! Paboyah!" I heard that familiar voice shout at me.
"Mhm?" I hummed a question without looking at him.
"Get down! You'll fall off." I looked down at his annoyed face and jumped back on the floor.
"What were you doing there?" He hit my forehead with his index finger as I winced at it.
"Was just trying to get a better look of her. She was my friend." I rubbed my forehead.
"Come with me. I'll get you inside those seals, legally." He pulled my hands and I walked with him.
I crossed the seals with him. He took out his phone and clicked pictures of the body. The ambulance removed it and we stood around the position.
"It looks like someone pushed her off." I whispered, audible enough to be only heard by my brother.
"Hmm... My years of experience says the same as well. Just the thing is, I was here to pick you up today and she fell infront of me. No one was there." He said.
"Hmm? You were here?"
"Yes. I was."
"And you couldn't stop her?" I looked at him with a profound frown.
"How could I?"
"So you're saying she did jump off?"
"I can't confirm right now. I need to check her room. It's their house right?"
"Yes. Why can't you say if you saw anybody or not?"
"How will I know? Her body sat up there like any living human. You saw her face? Her eyes were open. I don't think if you jump off such height your eyes will be open.
And she did not shout. Which means it's not an accident but intentional, be it suicide or murder."
"My heart says it's murder." I smudged off the tear droplets, that built at the corner of my eyes.
Jimin raised his eyes from the ground and plastered his lips in a straight line. With a sigh, he passed me his handkerchief and patted my hair.
"You wish to be a detective right? Then don't listen to emotions and work by brain. Listen to your heart only when your brain itself isn't convinced of the data it stored.
My brain says it's a murder. Come home now. I'll show you the pictures I clicked. You'll be my assistant for this assignment. I appoint you."
I sniffed and got up. We walked over the seal line. I looked for my friends who sat on the bench in the garden. Junghoon had a lifeless expression.
I looked at my brother and he nodded at me. I ran to them and stopped dead on my track. Junghoon had that gold ring clutched in his hands like it was his only reason to live.
"Hoonie..." I whispered. He sniffed and smiled at me. I caressed his face. Seohi and Changmin hugged him. Yunhua was sitting near his feet, on the ground, in a fetus position. Jaechan looked at his boyfriend and hugged him.
"Why is it always me...? Y/n-ah? Seohi-yah? Min-ah? Chan... Yunie..." His tears streamed down his cheeks. He was calling all of us for an answer, to a question we didn't know.
"Hoon-ah... Jebal..." Jaechan breathed an apology.
"Junghoon-ah, let's go back please. We... We can't help what has happened, right? Please don't make me cry." Said Changmin.
"Hoonie, please... Please don't hurt yourself." I said.
"I will... Try to... Not hurt myself physically. I'm dead already." He pushed out of our embrace.
"Keep it for me please. I'm bad at keeping things good." He placed the ring in Seohi's palm and walked away from us.
"Junghoo-" I hushed Seohi. He needed some time for himself. The sun was down and I had to catch up with Jimin.
I pulled my phone out and saw Jimin's message. He had gone to the room and taken my bag from the classroom on his way.
I glanced at the group and they all sighed like me. Our campus would be suspended for atleast a week due to this tragic death.
I exited from the garden and rushed to where I left my brother. He was standing there, waiting for me, while speaking to Eonnie over his phone.
"Yeah, I'm just heading back. Waiting for Y/n." He said. "Yeh? Aniyo! Okay... Okay!"
He closed his phone and set it aside. He was wearing my backpack on his shoulders. He took his gloves off.
"You're here? Okay. Let's go." I followed him to the car and sat next to him on the passenger's seat.
We drove through the silent highway and I maintained that solace. I was thinking of Junghoon. He isn't the type to accept truth the fastest.
I opened my phone and went to our chat room. I went through the pictures, Junghoon used to send whenever they went out on dates.
"You saw the CCTV footage?" I asked without sparing him a glance.
"Hmm." He responded.
"Was anyone there?" I asked.
"No. It makes the thing harder. We're waiting for the post mortem report."
"How long will it be?"
"Needs atleast a day and a half. Probably by overmorrow. Your classes have been suspended for the time being." He said.
"I know."
"About her, you both were friends right? If it was suicide, why would she kill herself? You know anything?" He enquired me.
"Not very close. We were just acquaintances. She and my friend, were dating and that is how I was friends with her.
But as much as I know, she had no reasons to be upset of her life. Mr. Jung never restricted her into doing anything.
There weren't many that hated her. Some did, because she's rich." I answered.
"And did she have any enemies?"
"Enemies... I guess, she didn't. Now if you're asking this, suspecting a murder, it can be anyone on the campus; starting from her secret admirers to even haters of the Dean."
"Quite possible. What about that boy? Your friend. Where was he?" He asked about Junghoon.
"Junghoon was with us. All of us where in our common room, on our usual table. Yunhua was having his classes. He's the one that ran a marathon to inform us. Junghoon was going to propose her at the sun set." I bit my lips as I completed my speech.
Jimin nodded to me and continued driving. The street lights weren't glowing today.
Did all of those fuse together?
Jimin had his eyes focused on the road. The nebulous cloud of the falling night, made it quite difficult to understand the turns.
I looked at the road to double-check Jimin's sight. He can get careless sometimes and he's not to blame for any possible accidents, when the sky is unconditionally in love with the darkness.
"I have to call the District Power Supply Distribution Unit. How can they not focus on the fused lights on the highway? This is so risky." Jimin complained.
"We do need to give them a call. This sucks. I wonder how many cars crash before they're lit back... Oppa!"

Hey Rosairises
Tell me, how was the first chapter?
The story is yet to begin.
I hope I will be able to maintain two simultaneous story, one for you to guess the real culprit and the other where I show you the culprit.
I mean, that's how Detective books work.
Anyways, next chapter coming soon.
I'll probably update once a week.
ByeBye~
