Sean the Hamster
It was a nice quiet evening in the R.V.. A small cage sat in the far right corner of the trailer. This large metal contraption held two small hamsters. The first, Charles, was dreaming in the corner, had red fur, and was eternally asleep. The second rodent was coated with brown hair, and was probably the stupidest creature to ever exist, he was Sean. Sean was beginning to stir from his long nap, when he heard the most terrifying noise. He looked around, trembling, until he found it was just his stomach. Charles hadn't even budged, he could've slept through a hurricane if need be. Sean realized it had been ½ an hour since he'd last eaten, and that was just unbarable. He could not take one more second of this agonizing pain. It was final, Sean was going to walk to the food bowl.
This may seem like a simple task for some, but not this pudgy pet. Normally, the food dish was with him in the cage, but, alas, Abby, his owner, had moved it to the front door. She was trying, desperately, to get him to lose some weight. Sean knew that in order to get to the kibble, he would need some outside assistance. Sean could see Abby through the tiny bars of his cage. He tried to get her attention by using stomach growls, but she had German rock music blaring through the enormous headphones around her ears. Sean began to ram, head first, into his cage. After multiple attempts he not only had Abby's focus, but also a minor concussion. The owner walked over, and smiled at the little stupid animal.
"Oh, poor Sean, you've been in here all day. I'll bet you want to get out and stretch your legs", Abby cooed. Sean knew what he really wanted was food, but he would have to play along in order to get it. He squeaked with joy as Abby opened the latch to the rusty metal cage. Sean stumbled out, not wanting to fall off the edge of the table that the cage was perched on. He stared into the abyss that was the floor. Actually, you couldn't even call it a floor at the that point. There were piles and piles of trash all around the coffee table, some could even call them mountains.
"Are you ready for a walk Sean?", Abby asked. NO! SEAN COULD NOT HANDLE ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE DREADED WALKS AGAIN!!!! He quickly jumped off the table, and fell into the never ending trench-o-death.
Sean landed in the junk pile, and peaked over a rotten banana peel. He saw a giant, purple, suede couch. Sean had always seen this massive piece of furniture from the comfort of his cage, but never up close. The tiny mammal slowly trotted through empty bottles that once held diet Dr.Pepper and bubble tea. He kept his head down the whole time until, "THUMP!", he hit his forehead on the leg of the couch. Slowly, he made his way around the side of the settee, making sure to keep close. He did not want to get lost in this sea of garbage.
Sean finally saw the light on the other side of the couch. It was like the heavens had opened up, and he could now breathe fresh air. He had only taken two steps when, "PLOP", the rodent fell on his side. Sean squawked, and rolled over on his side. He heard Abby hurry over to help the helpless creature. She flipped him over with a nudge of her foot.
Sean was now standing on all four paws when he saw the most horrific sight ever, Reece. The fat cat's bare skin hadn't seen the light of day in millennia. It's pink, hairless blubber sparkled in the light. Reece grumbled, and trotted over to where the terrified hamsters lay.
"Meow", said Reece.
"..........", Sean responded, since he had no idea what sound a hamster actually makes. A squeak? Chirp? I mean come on, what is it!?!?!!?
The obese cat made a most hideous noise, and then landed right next to Sean. The small animal had thought he had won the fight, but, suddenly, Reece started to move. Sean tried to run away, but he wasn't fast enough to get away from the overweight, hairless cat. Reece, slowly, rolled on top of him, until he could no longer breathe. Everything went black.
Sean awoke to the sounds of snoring, and Abby's creepy neighbor, John, yelling, "I AM YOUR HAMSTER!". He was also lying in a pool of drool, and it was not his own. Sean could still feel the fat cat on top of him, but now Reece had fallen asleep. It was his opportunity to escape. Sean slowly squirmed, and crawled out from under the hairless monster. The hungry animal could see his goal in the distance, the food dish.
He walked up to the matching, "Sherlock Holmes", food bowls. Sean, first, ate from the "Sherlock" food container, and then from the "John" water bowl. His stomach was filled, and his eyes started to flutter shut. Next thing he knew his owner, Abith, was lifting him up, and bringing the rodent back to his home.
It had been thirty minutes since Sean had returned from his long trek. He awoke from his slumber, and had only one thought going through his tiny, minuscule brain, "I'm hungry again".
