2 - An Unfamiliar Place
"...Kakashi..?"
The white haired man furrowed his eyebrows at Minato's mention of the name, giving him a confirmation of his identity. "Kakashi, that's you isn't it?"
"Yes...it is me," Kakashi spoke with narrowed eyes, his hand clenched into a fist. Minato's eyes considerably brightened, sighing in relief as his shoulders relaxed in the presence of someone he was familiar with. Maybe he shouldn't have asked Naruto to read his will so soon... his heart clenched at how heartbroken Naruto must be right now, and he knew he needed to get back at once.
"Kakashi, do you know where this is? And uhm... where'd you get those clothes from...? Not that I'm judging your taste, don't worry. It's just kind of..unique..?" Minato chuckled, blabbering on after all the chaos just now. It wasn't everyday you'd be stuck in the middle of a tiny tornado, and to be out of that situation was something Minato could celebrate.
However, Kakashi didn't seem to be in the mood for anything like that as his eyes only narrowed further.
"Um... Kakashi..? Are you alright?" Minato smiled nervously at the look on the man's face. Was it something he said? God, please let it not be the question about his clothes. Minato really didn't mean to make it sound so offensive, he was genuinely curious. That's all!
"Why..are you.... No, who are you?" Kakashi spoke in a stern manner, eyes almost piercing Minato's soul. "Answer me."
"What do you mean, Kakashi? It's me, Minato," the blonde man smiled nervously, confused about the current situation. What's wrong? Has Kakashi lost his memories? Or.....
His eyes widened. A minute ago, he was performing a ritual. A ritual that would tear open a passage in the world's barrier and connect it to another universe. If this Kakashi isn't the one he knew, then..
"How foolish. Minato Namikaze died years ago killing the Kyuubi no Kitsune. And I am Kakashi Hatake of the sharingan, don't try to fool me with my late sensei's appearance," Kakashi spoke in a cold tone. His glare made Minato feel like he was going to die right there and then, his limbs shaking in fear. "Let me ask you again, who are you?"
Minato's head felt like it was spinning round and round, his vision getting blurrier by the second. His stomach felt like it was caving in as he frowned in disbelief, the last thing he saw being Kakashi in front of him before his vision completely faded into nothingness.
As much as Minato wished he could deny it, he knew the truth.
He was now in another universe.
"....seem....ill intent..."
"..about his chakra levels....in the..."
"..it's quite alright for now. Oh, he's waking up."
Minato's eyes once again opened to meet an unfamiliar ceiling in an unfamiliar universe. He blinked a few times in an attempt to clear his vision before sitting up properly to observe his surroundings.
Standing by his bed was an old man who looked an awful lot like Mr. Sarutobi, his old work colleague Inoichi and of course, the child he had once saved who almost seemed like a son to him- Kakashi Hatake.
"Umm....hello," Minato greeted awfully, hand moving upwards to scratch his head in attempt to get rid of the awkwardness. As expected, it was pretty much futile with the stares he was getting.
"Hello. I have heard from Kakashi that you claim to be Minato Namikaze. Am I right?" Mr. Sarutobi was the first to speak. They all seemed to be on guard against him, stern looks sent in his direction. But that was to be expected- After all, he was presumably dead for years in this world. It was honestly relieving to know that he didn't have to deal with a copy of himself.
"Yes, that is right. I am Minato Namikaze, from Kakunodate district. You are..?"
"I am Hiruzen Sarutobi, third Hokage of the hidden leaf. Kakunodate district, is it? I have never heard of such a place before. May I know about it?" Sarutobi's eyes narrowed with distrust. Minato held back a sigh, of course the nations would be different. What a mess.
"It's a town located in Semboku, Akita of Japan. I live there with my son, and I'm actually pretty well known around that area," Minato tried to force a relaxed tone to lighten the mood. It proved itself useless as three continued to stare at him wordlessly.
"Are you sure the drug test confirmed that his mind is perfectly clear?" Hiruzen asked in a quieter tone to Inoichi, at which Minato deadpanned at. Well, he couldn't really blame them, but couldn't they keep it down? It was almost as if they wanted him to hear that.
"Umm.... Actually, I think I understand what's causing all this confusion," Minato spoke up nervously. He probably shouldn't have spoken up so carelessly, but he didn't know what to do! He had no experience in travelling between universes- Heck, he doubted any one of them did! "Well, you see, back in my world, I was actually a seal master who performs rituals by connecting souls and univer-"
"Back in your world?" Kakashi was the one who spoke this time. Minato's eyes widened as he realised his mistake. But they heard it, and there was no escaping now.
"Well...um. Haha, uh, this is awkward. I'm guessing you all heard that...?" Minato laughed, shoulders tense as the glares seemed to burn holes into him. "Since the beans have already been spilled, would you believe me if I told you that I accidentally sent myself to this world after creating a bridge from my world to yours?"
"I'm....not so sure about that," Sarutobi breathed out, unsure of how he should react. Like any other person, he'd think that this is all a crazy man's words. But sitting before him was Minato Namikaze in the flesh. The DNA test results came out and he was confirmed to be exactly who he said he was. Minato Namikaze, the great yellow flash of Konoha who has long passed was here. It sounded absurd, but it was the undeniable truth. "Hmm... you mentioned your son, didn't you? Can you tell me a little about him?"
"Of course," Minato cheered up a little at the mention of his son, wondering if Naruto exists in this world as well. "My son looks almost exactly like me, blonde hair, blue eyes. He takes after his mother's face shape, though. He's 14 this year, and- did I tell you already? His name is Naruto Namikaze."
"Naruto..." Sarutobi's gaze seemed to soften at the name. "Alright. I think we should end the chit chat here, There isn't really anywhere we have prepared for you to move into, since we just found you today. Though the Minato of our world does have a house, I'm afraid it's pretty dusty since no one uses it, but you can live in my guest room for now. I believe you'd feel more comfortable with a change of clothes and some rest. We can settle the official business tomorrow."
"Eh? Is that really alright to intrude...?" Minato blinked in surprise. Back in his world, Sarutobi was just his neighbour. Though they could be considered close, this is the first time Minato had met the Sarutobi of this world.
"Yes, it's perfectly fine. Minato and I were very close," Sarutobi reassured. "Also, you probably want to avoid getting noticed citizens, or anyone in general. After all, Minato had made quite the name for himself throughout the whole world."
"Through....throughout the whole world..?!?" Minato's eyes widened in surprise and shock as he tried his best to not leave his mouth agape. That's....one hell of a feat! He felt like nothing compared to the Minato of this world.
"Yes, throughout the world, Minato," Sarutobi smiled, almost amused at the blonde man's reaction. Kakashi was still as stoic as he was just now, but seemed a relax a little as well. "I'll place a genjutsu on you, so that you can walk around the village with ease. You'll appear like any other normal villager."
"Gen...jutsu? Like, optical illusions?" Minato frowned in confusion. How was that going to help at all?
"Hmm... I guess it's something like that. I'm mildly surprised that you don't know, but after all, you are from another world. Kakashi, could you demonstrate?" Hiruzen turned to the white haired man as Minato continued to stare in confusion. The man made a few handsigns, and before Minato could question what that was for, in Hiruzen's place now stood another Kakashi.
"W...What.. the hell!?" Minato's eyes widened, almost jumping out of the bed in shock. Minato Namikaze was a very polite man both back in his world and the Minato in this world. He always watched his own language, and that itself was enough to explain his surprise as Inoichi snickered at his reaction. And if Minato had to quote his son.... "What...."
"..what is this creepy magic voodoo shit!?!?"
