it wasn't until midnight that sukuna's eyes had shot open like an owl's. his predator-like gaze had swiftly shifted towards the sleeping priestess that was calmly breathing with her hand still intertwined with his.

the girl's head fell on sukuna's broad shoulder some point during the night as the blanket had also miraculously covered sukuna's chest.

the demon king smirked as he knew the girl's powers weren't activated since he was still holding her hand without getting rejected by her barrier of purity.

"asleep, miko?", sukuna whispered, to which he did not earn a response.

'perfect'.

as sukuna's long fingers neared the girl's face, it was as if god was helping the man see better as the moon had stopped hiding from behind the murky clouds.

though just before sukuna's finger could touch the girl's skin, kiyo's relaxed face was viewed under the shine of the illuminating moon.

oh, what a beauty she was.

kiyo was absolutely stunning, more alluring than any other woman that sukuna has met — and the man has met many.

the priestess's face was so symmetrical, with her full lashes and thin eyebrows; her sharp yet soft jawline and plumpish pink lips, her locks of hair dipped across the blanket and spread unevenly on the thin fabric.

sukuna froze.

'it'd be a pity to waste such a pretty face'.

then an image had crossed his mind. if he were to be killed one day, he would die by the hands of this woman right before him.

the cold icy glare from her brilliant sky blue eyes slightly shielded by her bangs, with his blood splattered across her white kosode and smeared across her cheek.

it sent shivers down sukuna's spine.

the demon king let out a low chuckle, amusing himself as he found it ridiculous on how the girl would be able to kill him when his capabilities were far beyond hers.

"too bad you'll die long before I do", sukuna mumbled, his pointer finger gracing the girl's cheek as his thumb gently brushed against the girl's lashes.

kiyo flinched a bit as sukuna immediately retracted his hand and closed his eyes; calming his breathing as he felt the miko shuffle a bit and lift her head up from his shoulder.

kiyo yawned as she covered the lower half of her face with her sleeve, even though no one in particular was watching.

the girl combed through her hair a bit as she glanced over at the "sleeping" demon.

kiyo made sure that the blanket covered the male's exposed chest as she stood up to go take a short walk. thankfully the moon had provided enough light for the girl not to trip over any twigs or such.

as kiyo made her way onto the main road filled with gravel, an obnoxious squawking was heard, making kiyo turn towards the crow that had landed on a nearby branch.

kiyo stared at it as it had stared back at the priestess, cawing at her as it prompted the girl to lift her arm up so that the crow could land on it.

as the crow had neared the girl, kiyo had taken the small scroll off the bird's foot, letting the crow fly off as she revealed the paper.

"meet me at the village of takayama, signed by tsukumo yuki", kiyo read out.

the girl sighed as she crumbled the paper and stuck it in her kosode. it wasn't that kiyo had disliked the relaxed woman, however, she was known to be quite lazy amongst the sorcerers.

though the real reason why kiyo didn't particularly like working with the girl was because her and a certain shaman used to have a history, to which one could describe kiyo as jealous.

however, work was work, and all feelings aside, tsukumo was an extremely impressive sorcerer.

kiyo glanced up at the sky with a minimal amount of stars as she started heading back towards where sukuna was resting.

slightly smiling, the girl made sure not to wake the male as she just sat beside sukuna, closing her eyes once more.

the demon king slightly opened his left eye as he saw the priestess return, to which he had closed his eye as the two peacefully rested for the rest of the night — early morning.

"so this the rumored yōkai king?", a woman with long, light colored hair commented.

"huh? and who the hell are you?", sukuna rudely remarked, to which the woman had lightly chuckled.

"tsukumo yuki, not exactly a pleasure to meet you though", the woman grinned as sukuna just scoffed.

'another damn shaman'.

"and it's been a while hasn't it, kiyo", tsukumo smiled, to which kiyo had given a small one back.

"indeed. how've you been?", the white-haired girl questioned, knowing that tsukumo preferred traveling around japan rather than just staying in one place.

"the usual", tsukumo sighed. "though I must say no place is as comfortable as home", the girl replied.

"it makes me think back to the old times, when—"

"I believe we should get going. it seemed pretty urgent from the letter that you had delivered to me", kiyo interrupted, to which that had hooked sukuna's curiosity a bit.

he wondered what was so secretive about kiyo's past that she didn't even want to mention it.

"will it be joining us too?", tsukumo asked, clearly referring to sukuna.

the pink-haired male let out an offended grunt.

'the fuck? think I'm an object or some shit?'

"yes, he will be joining us, won't you, sukuna?"

"huh? oh yeah, sure", the demon king replied as he followed the two priestesses, watching as the two interacted.

"how has satoru been?", tsukumo asked, to which kiyo had replied with a simple "good".

tsukumo softly hummed.

"still upset about what getō and I discussed about?", the woman asked, making kiyo instantly stop walking in her tracks.

sukuna halted too as he watched the white-haired girl's expression contort into a fake smile.

"I haven't heard that name in so long I had almost forgotten about him", she said.

but that was a lie, because not one night went by without the white-haired miko revisiting her memories of that day.

'if only he had not been fed those meaningless encouragements by her', is what kiyo had initially thought.

however all parties knew that it was ultimately getō's own decision to run off and raise his own group; going even as far as to burning down a village and killing all humans residing there in the process.

kiyo wanted to believe that he was innocent, that he wasn't the getō suguru that she knew.

but all the evidences were there, right in front of her very own eyes.

and since it was said that tsukumo was the last person that he had talked to before making his decision, tsukumo had became the scape goat for all of kiyo's bitterness.

though in the end, the priestess knew better, as she had no one to blame but herself.

she should've talked getō out of it and convinced him that there was a better way to exterminate all demons rather than to kill off the weaklings of the human race so that humans would eventually learn to evolve and protect themselves.

but she didn't. she could only watch all the events unfold as she guarded the tiny wooden temple, where only the greatest demon of all times was sealed.

"perhaps it's good that you've forgotten him. he was never good for you anyways", tsukumo commented, to which kiyo had let out a downhearted chuckle.

"perhaps so".

a/n: okay disclaimer, I do NOT hate tsukumo yuki. she's actually a very cool girl, but her ideals actually kind of match up with getō's, so I thought it'd be perfect to make her a bit antagonizing towards kiyo?

anyways, sorry for being annoying lmao.

if you enjoyed, don't forget to vote + comment! I love y'all sm. thanks babes!! <3
