My heart was thumping loudly within my chest. My fists were clenched tightly by my sides while we were having a staring contest. Those blue orbs were looking back into my eyes and I was trying my best to kill the 'Devil' with my stare, only if it was possible.
"You know, that is not gonna help but will only make your eyes water without blinking." Jake's gruff voice spoke.
It took an entire minute for me to realize that he was talking to me. Jung-Hoon was as stupefied as much I was whereas that old man had left the room long ago.
"You Beast!" I was finally able to speak.
"Oh, so it can talk!" He said sarcastically.
"Who do you think you are, huh? I am not some toy of yours that you will do whatever you will be willing to do with me! I am here to treat you but you are ordering them to throw me in the open and feed me to your creatures? How ungrateful!" My voice had reached a very high pitch but that was not what I cared for. What mattered was to put some sense into his mind.
Jung-Hoon quietly moved closer to me and pinched me on my right arm to stop me from digging a hole for my death. I turned to him and glared at him but he didn't even look at me. My glare was interrupted when I heard the shattering of the glass but along with that I felt a needle piercing pain in my left ankle.
I jumped out of shock and pain at the same time. On turning to look at the floor, I saw that a glass had been shattered into a million pieces on the ground near my left foot. I felt something warm trickling from my ankle and found it to be blood.
"Oh God, Amelia! Your foot!" Jung-Hoon exclaimed.
I then looked at Jake and after some time it settled upon me that he was the one who had thrown the glass and few of its bits must have scratched me good enough that blood had began to make it's way out of my flesh. I was more than furious and the pain didn't make me feel that way but the act of that psycho laying in the bed in front of me.
"What on earth is your problem?" I couldn't control any more.
"Jung-Hoon, take her away from my sight or I may end up doing something way too bad." Said Jake while gritting his teeth. He was getting as red as a tomato with anger and the edge of impatience was creeping into his tone.
"I am sorry Jake. I will just..." He couldn't complete as I interrupted him.
"You are such a coward Jung-Hoon!" I said and then faced the Devil. Yeah, the name Devil suited him even more than Beast.
"I don't get it. You know what, yes! You really, really are in a dire need of getting a treatment from a doctor but a psychiatrist! You are totally mad and a lunatic..."
"Don't you dare call me that!" Jake rose up from the bed and rushed towards me with his finger, pointed towards me.
I then read his body language that made it crystal clear that my hole for the death was dug and I was soon to be a guest at a graveyard. His eyes glowed with savage fire, lips pursed by suppressed fury. Veins in his neck were standing out in livid ridges and anger on his face became an effigy of contempt. I unconsciously took a few steps back but then he grabbed my arm with ruthless pressure and this let out a uncontrollable whimper out of me.
"Eyes down." Even his whisper was enough to display the venom that had coated his words.
"Just let me go! You are a lunatic, lunatic, lunatic..." I was growing desperate to show Jake how much I hate him. Jung-Hoon on the other hand was pacing in the room, probably thinking about a plan to let himself out of this chaos. My thoughts were impeded by a strong grip on my throat.
My eyes found two big, muscular hands that were holding a death grip on my neck, causing my air ways to constrict. I began to wiggle out of his hold and tried to somehow get his hold lose on me but all attempts were going to drain.
He was far too strong and soon my condition was turning into a vulnerable one. My lungs were dying for oxygen and my vision turned blur as the tears spring up and they threatened to flow out but I restrained them since I did not want to act weak in front of him.
I kept on gaggind fighting with silent whimpers coming out of my throat. Black dots soon appeared in my line of sight and the energy was slowly getting squeezed out of me.
Suddenly, those hands were pulled away from me. I fell onto the floor and my hands traced the area of my neck that had been squeezed gravely by the Beast. It was gone sore but I could feel prints already forming. I coughed and once my vision was better, I dared to look up from the floor. Jung-Hoon was holding Jake back while Jake's eyes were glued to my little state on the floor.
His eyes were less furious now but his muscles were still stiffened. Jung-Hoon was speaking something to him. I assumed he was trying to calm him down as I noticed how his muscles began to relax. I kept sitting on the floor as I tried to calm my nerves. Indeed he was a lunatic and nothing was going to change my perception after what he had done.
Ensuing the words that Jung-Hoon had spoken, which I could not hear since my ears were not working and the only thing I could hear was the thumping of the hot blood through my head and ears, Jake held his right arm where there were the herbs before and he stumbled to his bed.
This made it clear that Jake was really ill and he did not have enough energy as right after his outburst, he began stumbling. I could not see his wound as it was soon covered by the same herbs.
Subsequently, Jung-Hoon came to me and looked at me with sympathy. What was that sympathy for? He was the cause of the very root for me to be here, in the dungeon, at the very first place. He bent down and took hold of my left arm. He draped it around his lean shoulders and held my thin waist from his other hand. Like this, he lifted me up from the ground.
I had not noticed my shivering legs before until now. Although, I was going to snap at him and say that I did not need his help but went against it since I was in a dire need for his support. Of course, Jake had strangled my throat with his hands, tight to such extent that I was 'about' to die.
I gave my best glare to Jake but found his eyes closed. I let everything slip out of my mind and only focused on walking. My left side was pressed into Jung-Hoon's side as we steadily yet slowly made our way through that Beast's room to the hallways and then into the same hall but this time we made our way into a new hallway which was just like the other ones.
Soon, we reached a door and I opened it myself. Although I was better now and my arm was off his shoulder, yet he did not remove his hand from my waist.
The room was beautiful and the environment was very cozy. There laid a bed made up of oak wood but it was polished too well to make it look nice. Beside the bed rested two side tables on either sides, with lamps that illuminated yellow lights. The bedsheet was lilac in colour and the mattress seemed to be very comfy.
The floor consisted of skin marble tiles and the ceilings held spotlights. A one armed skin colored sofa with lilac cushions was placed right beside the door where I was standing at that moment and it was accompanied by a coffee table. There was another door that I assumed was leading to the washroom.
Bed was placed perpendicular to the door which was on the right side. The sofa and coffee table also rested at the same side whilst the other left hand side was occupied by a window with lilac curtains.
Everything of the room spoke of the 'modern' lifestyle and I had a doubt if it really was a room for me.
"Don't worry. The room really is yours." Jung-Hoon answered my thoughts. I looked at him quizzically, thinking how did he know that I wanted to ask something like that.
"Some people's faces are enough to display their thoughts. No need to speak words."
"Thank you for saving me earlier. But at the same time, no thank you." I said while making my way towards the bed.
The bed dipped and then made me jump a little, taking in consideration the fact that the bed really was comfy and it felt like I had just settled myself on marshmallows.
"Look," Jung-Hoon moved towards the sofa and then settled there, facing me and continuing, "I told you that you are suppose to keep your mouth shut. Self praise is no recommendation but I am the only one here who is good to you. Others might only want to take advantage of you or kill you simply as they all are short of temper. It is in the best of interests for you if you seriously pay attention to my words and make them the part of your life."
"How long am I stuck here for?" I asked the question that had been lingering in my mind since too long.
"Not until Jake get's healthy again."
"But he hates my guts and so do I. Even if I try to come up with concessions, the way he treated me and the way you tell me about him, he won't even let me come near him again." I explained.
"There is just one way." The tone he just used told me already that it won't be good.
"What?" I waited impatiently while tapping my left foot on the floor.
"Of course you know what I am thinking. You will have to apologize."
"Excuse me?!" I rose up from my spot and moved closer to Jung-Hoon. He rubbed his temples with frustration.
"Amelia, you really have to. This will also ensure your further ability to be able to stay alive."
"He is the one who is need of me. Not me needing him. Haven't you heard the great saying, thirsty comes to the well, not the well to the thirsty?"
"Yep I have. But seems like you haven't heard that asking for forgiveness won't kill but only brings peace." He finished with his gaze fixed upon my pacing body in the room.
"But I didn't even do anything."
"Yeah. You didn't do anything apart from calling him a lunatic and a crazy person and not just once but four times!"
"Ahan, and what about the glass that he threw at me and I injured my ankle which is already wounded too bad..."
Jung-Hoon opened his mouth to say something but I continued with a much higher voice, "And let's not forget his attempt of killing me to death by squeezing my throat until I was going to give up."
"I know but it is Jake. He is merciless, okay? If you want to die then fine, suit yourself." He stood up and placed his hand on the door knob before stopping and turning around. He gave me another look but this look brought a frown on my face.
He was pouting. His plump lip was looking so adorable as he remained pouted like that. His amber eyes were narrowed and were giving me that puppy like look. Woah, I was not expecting that at all.
"That is not going to work on me." I said with no humour in my voice as I crossed my arms at my chest.
This simply made Jung-Hoon to pout even more making him look like a three year old kid who was begging his mother to get him a big candy but his mother was simply refusing him.
"I said no." He came near to me to give me a better look at his face.
"Never." My stern voice was faltering a little now. Control Amelia, control. I scolded myself.
At this he sat on his knees and hugged my legs. I let out a squeak.
"What on earth?!" I tried to wiggle out my legs from his grasp but he continued to tighten his hold.
"What are you doing?! Let me go, please, pleeeease!" I cried whilst trying my best to get out of the grasp.
"Not until you say yes." Jung-Hoon had his voice mimicked like that of a small kid.
"Stop being a baby. This is a question regarding my self-respect."
"And this is a question regarding...regarding....a life! You cannot lose a life, can you? That is not what doctors do. They always tend to protect their patients, no matter good or bad. Will you be at peace if you let that life pass out of your hands like this, when you could have saved him?" His words hit my nerves. Of course he knew how to get me on my knees since he knew my weakness.
"Okay! Fine, Fine! I will apologize to him but for God's sake now, leave my legs!" I gave up. This made Jung-Hoon stand up back to his normal height without any pout. He was back to being a normal person.
"I knew it!" he grinned ear to ear.
"I hate you." I murmured.
"I know you don't." he said with his gaze burning into my eyes. Something told me that he meant so much more than what those words meant.
"You wish." I said after averting my eyes away from him.
"The wardrobe is in the washroom with clothes of your size and medical box. I will come after few hours to take you to the dining room. Till then clean up yourself and get changed. Also, be ready to apologize to Jake." He said before moving to the door.
"You mean you will come again?" I ask.
Jung-Hoon simply smirked and then finally left my room. My new room. I looked around about and took in my new surroundings.
Am I looking forward to what is ahead of me? I asked myself. There is too much coming and I feel like maybe something that will happen in the future won't be good at all.
