9- Kings- Jody
Alrighty, Here is Joe X Cody as requested by nyancinder123
Now normally, Joe and Cody are brothers in the Atlantis series, but as a writer, I have this ability to manipulate the circumstances so POOF, not brothers. I REPEAT, THEY ARE NOT BROTHERS IN THIS, NOR RELATED AT ALL
You may go on.
Cody
Being a King isn't like they put it so often in fairy tales. Truth is, it's a lot lonelier. You feel as though the whole kingdom is depending on you and if you make one wrong move, it's all over. You would fail everyone, not just the ones that your personally care about, but a whole kingdom full of people. Every breath is heavy, blinking is strained and the pressure you feel is far more than anything you'll ever experience. The city you run is what you devote your life to.
If you ever find yourself in such a situation, here's my advice: Find someone who is willing to share the burden. A friend, family member or even a lover. All of which is fine, just make sure you trust them with your life, your kingdom and all that is important.
If you find this person, never let them go.
Luck was never something that was with or against me, but there was one day where I had all the luck in the world and didn't even know it. Just a simple house call, a request from a citizen. They said there were people in the poor district that need help. Apparently some people were robbing them so naturally, I investigated.
Though, I didn't know the Poor District all that that well, which was a huge problem since the robber kept dodging me. I needed some help to navigate it. That's where he came in: Joe. A simple chicken trying to live his life in Atlantis. He helped me while I was there, showing me around and even helped fight off the robber. Joe was... Odd. He was a pretty goofy guy, always telling jokes to keep spirits up and though he might have overreacted at some things, he always helped me and everyone else out. I never really met anyone like him, and later, I would find that there never would be.
As I finished up my work there, I decided to invite him to go out and just be with me. Joe accepted. It went well, so naturally we did it again. And again. And again.
Then it stopped being platonic. I started dating a peasant of all things, but I didn't really care. Though others might have, nobody stopped me, so it kept going. We became boyfriends. It wasn't long before I popped the question. I proposed in the very place we met and asked him to be my King. To my delight, he said yes.
We married in the palace, holding a huge wedding for all to come to, no matter who they were. That day, I was never happier. I married the man I loved most. Atlantis got two Kings that day and times were never better.
Laying in bed this morning, Rasmus came into our room, waking us up. "There are citizens upstairs who need favors. Go tend to them." He said simply and left.
I groaned, shifting and attempted to get out of bed with little success. My eyelids were too heavy for this. A chuckle from the other side of the bed woke me up a little more. "Wow! Look at that! It's the rare bedhead Cody in his natural habitat!"
I laughed, lazily turning to him. I rolled my eyes as soon as I saw his red top feathers. "Like your one to talk. Just look in the mirror!"
Getting up, he took my suggestion and grinned. "I guess we had a rough sleep." Joe said fixing it. As soon as he was done, he spared another glance at me. "You know what? You go back to bed, I got this. I'll even make you breakfast!"
I raised my eyebrow. "Really? That's pretty nice of you!" I began to lay my head down when it hit me. "A little too nice... Joe, what'd you do?"
His eyes darted around and his laugh slowed. "Whaaaat? Come on man, I did nothing!" The chicken started to back out of the room. I continued my hard gaze until he gave in. "Okay, maybe I did order a couple boxes of sea monkeys."
I narrowed my eyes. "... How many?"
"Uh... A hundred or so?"
I groaned and threw my head back onto the pillow. "Really Joe? You spent our money on sea monkeys?"
"I'm going to make an army!" He protested back.
"Of sea monkeys? The little shrimp guys or whatever they are? How would an army of sea monkeys help us?"
"You won't be saying that when I'm done training them! Just don't worry about it and go back to sleep."
I watched him leave and shook my head. "Sometimes I wonder if he's sane or not." I allowed myself to get comfy and drifted off to sleep.
"Psst! Cody! Hey!" The voice shook me awake again. Blinking, I focused in on the chicken. Joe smiled, holding out a plate. "I finished up with the citizens and made breakfast! I got buttered toast here."
I muttered thanks and took it from him, then stared at for a while. I cracked a smile, snickering. "Joe, it's burnt." I lifted the hard black piece of what once was toast up, a smirk never leaving my face. Joe opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out, which only made me laugh harder. "Remind me never to let you cook again."
"Hey! I can cook! I just can't cook toast."
"What can you cook?"
"... Cereal."
I shook my head, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure you make the best cereal in all the land bud. Come here." I signaled him to move closer and kissed him when he did. We held it there for what seemed like eternity, embracing. I never wanted it to end, but eventually it had to and we pulled away, both with stupid grins on our faces.
"Never change Joe."
I found my best friend and soulmate, and just through chance. I could have had anyone show me around the poor district, but I am so lucky it was him. I found someone who was willing to share the duties of a King and be by my side at all costs.
If you ever find someone like this, never let them go because I did, and I'm never letting go.

I know it was really short, but I'm actually pretty proud of how it turned out because holy crap that's actually really cute. I see why you guys ship it so badly.
Anyways, I hope you liked it! Be sure to comment and tell me your thoughts! Farewell!
