Cody X Sam as requested by nyancinder123 Here ya go buddy!
Cody
The Sneaky Sisters and I had a complicated relationship to say the least. Selena once said that she didn't really have friends other than Sam and their pet dragon, Endy, but I don't think that's true. Not anymore at least.
Lately, they've been hanging out with me a lot more than normal. They told me it's because they have nothing else to do, but I think they're lying. I'm starting to think I'm growing on them. Sam mainly. She's the one who comes over the most. I thought it was because Selena was busy, but recently, I learned that wasn't the case. Yes, Selena was busy at times but others, she generally wanted to be with me.
Selena's always been like a sister to me.
Sam however.... A friend? I don't even know anymore. Recently, I've been feeling different about her.
Every time I see her I feel happy. Like really happy. Spending time with her was fantastic and every time I did it, the whole day I was energized. For a while I honestly thought it was because we were friends and just becoming better ones. After hanging out with the Professor, something occurred to me. I didn't feel the same way. Yes, I was glad to be with him, but not the same way I felt with her. With her, I could hear her talk for hours and be okay with it. With her, I was content with just being in her presence. With her... I was complete.
For the longest time, I thought of Sam as, well, a friend. That's what she was. Now... I think I need something a little more.
I stared down at my phone. My reflection stared back at me as I worked up the courage. I took a deep breath, opening it up and bringing up her contact, then freezing on the spot. What am I supposed to say? Hey Sam, wanna be my girlfriend? Romantically? No, that's crazy! Maybe.... Hey Sammy- nope that's worse. Hey Sam, would you like to go on a date with me? Wait... That's it! I nailed that last one! Okay, now jus-
Then the phone rang, the very female in question's face popped up, sending my heart in a frenzy. Abort! Abort!
In a fleet of panic, I flailed my arms around and answered. "Heeeyyyy, Sam." Mentally screaming, I forced myself to act calm, no matter how I felt on the inside.
"Hey Cody. Selena's out, something about getting a present for her friend, wanna hangout?" I gulped silently. "Yeah. Yeah that sounds good. I actually- uh-... Really want to talk to you. About something. Important." I could here a slight chuckle escape her mouth. "Okay. See you soon!"
As soon as the click entered my ears, I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Why was I acting like this? Was this normal?
For the third time that minute, I glanced at the clock and received information I already knew. It was almost five 'o clock. In my state, my finger involuntary tapped on the couch I sat on. Taking in another long breath, I soon let it out, doing my best to slow the heartbeat. Nothing was working.
"Huh," A voice whipped my head around. There, near the entrance to my room, Sam smugly smiled, swimming over. "What could make the King of Atlantis so nervous? The last time I saw you this worried was back when you were looking for me on the beach." I smiled fondly at the memory, laughing at how I found Sam getting ice cream in the end. Sam soon was by my side, still grinning. "Anyways, what did you want to say?"
I took in another deep breath and spoke. "Sam, I-... You're-... You're amazing."
"I know." She snickered.
"And I like spending time with you." I pressed on.
"Well duh. I wouldn't be here if you didn't."
I sighed. Man, she is not making this easy for me. My mind scrambled for the right words. "What I'm attempting to get at here is that... I want to be more than friends."
"So like... Beat friends?" Sam bite her lip trying to stop herself from laughing. I sighed in defeat and she lost it. "Sam, can you please let me say this! It's really important!" She kept giggling. "Cody, I knew exactly what you were trying to say as soon as you mention it on the phone! I messing with you!" I breathed out in relief, shaking my head. "Oh. That explains a lot actually. So what's your answer?" Her eyebrow raised. "Cody, you have to ask me first."
My heart nearly stopped. "Did I not say it?" Her head shook. I'm such an idiot! "Oh. Well, Sam, would you like to go on a date with me?" The mermaid smirked. "Finally he says it. And yes, I would." My heart fluttered.
"Great! Let's go!"
I chose to take the brown haired girl to a nice place I knew by the shops. It was called Sea Chips, best known for the creative things it could do with seaweed, the most popular being, well, Sea Chips, which was when they dried it as much as possible and salted it. Tasted a lot like potato chips. That food was so popular that their shop was renamed after it. I can't remember what it was before. To my surprise, no other customers were there so it was perfect. We sat down at one of the tables by the window to the right of the entrance and ordered a large plate of Sea Chips.
My heart palpitated as we waited. I looked around the place before locking eyes with the green tailed female. "Soooo.... You come here often?" Why did I ask that? This is already going downhill.
"First time." I nodded and gulped, staring at the floor. Sam didn't speak for the longest time, but eventually sighed. "Cody." Catching my attention, our eyes met again. Her eyebrows were raised but a slight grin could be found on her face. Her eyes were more serious than I had ever seen them before but still friendly. "You know you don't have to be so nervous. It's just me. I'm still Sam, just now on a date with you. The only difference is now it's romantic. You can still talk to me normally."
I mused about that. "Huh... I guess you're right. Sorry it's just," I sighed deeply. "Honestly, I've screwed up a lot of things, and I mean a LOT of things. I almost killed a man once! It was practically pure luck that I didn't. Then I think he got really into revenge and tries to kill me but I fled and then, okay, now I'm getting off topic but the point is this," I breathed out, closing my eyes for a second, then I faced her. "I really don't want to screw this up. I-I like you Sam. A lot."
Though Sam was still smiling, there was something different to it. Before I could process it properly, the mermaid leaned in and her lips met mine. Shock over took me for just a moment, then I melted into it. Moments passed and I didn't want to stop, but had to breath. We broke away, holding our faces close before inching back into our seats. My face was overheating and my mind in chaos. As I stared, dumbfounded, Sam chuckled. "I like you too Cody."
Just then, our food came in and we dug in. Even as I chewed, my thoughts were stuck on the kiss. Finally, I found myself speaking. "So that was fantastic!" I blurted out and resisted the urge to slap myself. The mermaid burst out laughing, her whole body shaking. "Have I ever told you that you're great with words?"
My face could not become any redder than it was at that moment. "Shhhhut up..."
Things only got worse.
Suddenly, clamor from the shops started to rise. Though we stayed in our seats, our heads turned towards the entrance. A purple figure soon dashed into the restaurant and took refuge among the walls. Though they didn't notice us at first, seconds later, their yellow eyes gazed around and locked on to us, looking between us. "Oh, uhhhh...." He seemed to gulp. "Nice day isn't it?"
Neither of us said anything. The purple being sweated a little. "What are you two doing?"
"We're on a date." I answered, unsure of what to say. They nodded. "KrakenKid... What are you doing here?"
"Uh...." Before he answered, a blonde mermaid rushed in. "KrakenKid! What the heck! Why are you in here?" She exclaimed. "The guards were coming, I couldn't let them catch me!"
"So you left me behind?"
"I panicked okay!"
"Well you're lucky I-"
Selena's eyes drifted to Sam and I and paused. She turned to the other for answers. "Those are the two people who we couldn't have seeing us! What were you thinking?" She hissed. KrakenKid held up his hands in defense. "It was an accident!" He insisted. Selena seemed to let out a low growl but eyes us.
"What are they even doing?"
"They're on a date."
"You know we can hear you right?"
Both of them froze and slowly turned to us. "Are we... interrupting the date?" I nodded. "Well in that case," The pair began to back up. "We'll just leave."
"Hey!" Just as they turned, I spoke up. They whipped around. "What are you two even doing?"
Neither said anything for the longest time. KrakenKid was the one to break the silence. "Do you have the long sword?" He whispered. "Yes!"
"Good, now RUN!"
Both of them bolted out of the room in seconds leaving us behind. Sam and I exchanged little looks but shrugged and continued to eat.
As the day passed, the sun started to go down. Sam had to leave soon, so I did the natural thing and walked her to the tunnels. I joked along the way, getting to hear her laugh that I loved so much. Every step we neared her home and soon, the glowing mushrooms told me we were here. I huffed, lingering at the entrance. Decisions flooded my brain but what to choose was the tough part. In movies, the guy always kisses the girl after the date, but I flustered just thinking about it. What if she didn't want that? What did she want at all? Sam waited for me, then finally said something.
"So are you going to kiss me or what?"
My mind turned to ice and I quickly turned towards her, heart pounding out of my chest. "Can I?" She nodded, smirking. I took in a long breath before leaning in and pressing my lips to hers.
Just like before, everything just sparked inside me. Our kiss was passionate and butterflies started a party inside me. When we stopped, she grinned and waved goodbye, journeying into her tunnels. I watched, frazzled but in a good way. Suddenly, I filled up with energy and a huge smile broke out. I skipped back to the castle, still holding it all the way there. As I burst through the door, PebbleTeen noticed my state and raised her eyebrow in question.
"I see you're in a good mood."
"Yeah! I just had an amazing day!"
