21- Shipwrecked- Platonic!Koe
Been a while since I've done platonic Ships! Here's KrakenKid and Joe as requested by Iceshard1011 which is something I've been wanting to do for a while!
This ought to get interesting...
The only change to the timeline is the obvious fact that Joe's alive sooooooo, here you go!
KrakenKid
Pain shot through me as I tried to shift my body. My eyes flickered open, starting to wonder A: How did I fall asleep in the first place? And B: Where was I?
As I moved as delicately as possible, the ground beneath me shifted but stayed firm at the same time. Sand I soon realized. I'm on sand... I thought I was out at sea?
Soon, my questions were answered when the sound of waves crashing down told me where I was. A beach.
I was on the ground and something covered my entire body, making the area around me dark, though strands of light peered through. It took me longer than I was willing to admit to finally remember it all.
I was in the Overworld after following that smelly penguin out here. Out on land, I met up with CannibalCrab. We stayed around for a while before I built a boat and went fishing. However, it wasn't my day and a storm came. The last thing I remember before passing out was a huge wave crashing on the boat, sending me flying back and a sharp pain in my head.
The wooden boards of the boat now kept me from moving and seeing what was around me. Majority of it was on my tentacles but my arms did manage to free themselves. I attempted to slip out of the rest of it, but I could barely get the ones that seemed to make a teepee over my head, off.
I huffed. There was no way I would get out of this by myself. My side was killing me and I couldn't feel two of my tentacles. I searched around for my phone to call CannibalCrab with, but groaned when it wasn't with me.
I only had one option, and I didn't have good odds for it. "HELP!" I screamed. "Anyone there? Heeeellllp!"
I screamed for about ten minutes, slowly loosing hope but then, someone answered. "Hello?" They called back.
"FINALLY! HELP! PLEASE!" I begged as someone ran over, sand swishing with their movements.
"Holy- is someone under all that junk?" Though I couldn't see them, their voice sounded... Kinda familiar. They were British, that's for sure. I tried to place it but gave up after a moment.
"Yes! My boat was destroyed during the storm! Can you get all this stuff off of me?"
"Yeah!" They responded, starting to shift some of the planks around. "You were shipwrecked? Are you hurt at all?"
I let out a breathy laugh. "You can say that. Little numb in some places and my side is on fire, but I'm alive at least."
"Not a lot of people can say that." They pointed out. The more they spoke, I began to realize I was probably talking to a guy. His voice was low enough to be at least. As more shuffling occurred, one of my tentacles got a feeling of fresh air. "I think I found... Some part of you. Are you purple?" He poked it, making me flinch away from the touch.
"Hey! Careful with the tentacles! They're sorta sensitive you know! And yes, my whole body is the best color in the rainbow!"
He chuckled as he cleared more off. "Tentacle? Are you a squid?"
I let out a loud groan. "No, they're my annoying cousins. Don't call me a squid, I'm a lot better than that scum."
He let out a breathy laugh. "Whatever you say man, I'm not looking for a fight... Hey, I'm gonna need a little help from you to clear this huge bit off! Most of it seems to be connected and deeply rooted in the ground, so I'm gonna need you to push from the inside, can you do that? I'll be pulling from the outside. Our combined forces should over power it!"
I gulped and nodded. "Alright. On three?"
"Yeah! One... Two... Three!" As soon as he said it, I started to push against the planks as hard as I could. He started to pull and slowly, it broke off before finally giving in, and the sunlight started to blind me.
I grunted and propped myself up with my arms, before turning to the stranger, ready to say thanks before I froze. His blue eyes locked with my yellow ones, and soon, we both uttered one word.
"YOU?" We said at the same time.
I scrambled back, pain flowing through me while the chicken just stared. Of course, out of everyone, it just happened to be him.
"It's you! That smelly chicken!"
I watched a million emotions pass through Joe's face, but finally they settled on one: Offended.
"Smelly?" He crossed his arms. "I'll have you know, I shower daily! Like you're any better, SquidBoy!"
"KRAKEN!" I corrected.
"I don't care!" He retorted. "What are you even doing out here? Shouldn't you be in Atlantis ruining lives?"
Anger boiling inside of me. "One, I don't ruin lives, I'm planning on making them better and two, I followed that crappy excuse of a king that you call a brother, out here."
I hadn't seen the chicken a lot, but never had I seen him so angry. His eyes burned with hate, making me shift uncomfortably when under their gaze. His hands curled into fists. Though I didn't realize it, I moved back a little. Suddenly, laying on the ground made me feel s lot smaller, and I just wanted to run and not look back.
"Don't insult my brother." He growled, taking a step forward. "He's a better man than you will ever be."
My mind began to race, and before I knew it, I just blurted it all out. "You haven't seen him in war." Joe froze on the spot. "I have."
For a long moment, he didn't say anything. "You declared war on him?"
"No. He declared war on me."
If I already unsettles him before, now he definitely was uncomfortable. He avoided my gaze for a long while. "He wouldn't do that..." Joe tried to reason with himself, but still sounded unsure.
"You've been gone a long time." I pointed out. "How would you know? He's changed, chicken. He's not the same newbie king who doesn't know what he's doing, jokes around all the time and lacks confidence. Well, he still jokes but he's different now."
Joe started to shake his head slowly. "No... No, I know him better than anyone! I'm his brother!"
"And I'm his enemy!" I argued. I could see him starting to loose it, but I couldn't help it. I wanted to hurt him. "I see the side to him that you refuse to see! The dark side! Your brother is a m-"
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" He screamed, now facing me head on. His eyes glowed an electric blue, sparking with anger. I began to slightly regret saying too much. Seeing him now, it reminded me of something I had seen a while ago.
A king, angry when it came to his brother and now full of power from the Nexus. His rage, turned towards me and then there was me, at a point where I was at their mercy.
I had seen this play out before, and I nearly lost my life because of it.
I knew what I looked like: Utterly helpless. No weapons or people to defend me. No strength left. No place to run or hide, I could barely even move right now with my side killing me and some of my tentacles not working. Fear filled up my body as I suddenly realized I backed the wrong horse. He could kill me right now, and I wouldn't be able to stop him.
But... He didn't.
It could have been anything but he stared me down for a second and then, all visible rage was gone.
He sighed, fist uncurling and instead, did something I didn't expect.
He held out his hand to me.
I eyed it suspiciously, and when he noted it, he started to explain himself. "Listen," he started. "I don't like you, and you don't like me, but you're really hurt and if you think for one moment that I'm going to leave you to die, then you clearly have never gotten to know me."
I looked up at him, locking eyes as he went on. "I live in a village nearby, they've got medical supplies to patch you up. Let me get you there, and as soon as you're healed, you'll be on your way. Alright?"
I hesitated, but this no other options, I took his hand.
As he lifted me to my feet, we soon both learned the extent of my injuries. Though two and a half tentacles were numb before, I now knew why: They weren't working at all.
I immediately dipped forward but the chicken stumbled to catch me. I nearly hit the ground before he wrapped his arms around my waist and steadied me, though still holding me in the leaning position. "Your reflexes need a little work." I commented.
"Hey! Do you want me to drop you?"
"... No."
Joe quickly lifted me back up, placing on of my arms around him, before doing the same but with his arm on my shoulder. He smirked. "That's what I thought."
We started to move, Joe doing most of the work. About a minute later, he laughed to himself. "So does this mean you fell for me?" He gave a joking wink.
I rolled my eyes in response. "Jokingly flirting with the enemy runs in the family, huh?" I responded, remembering the penguin doing the same thing.
"Of course." Then he snorted. "I wonder if our father did that."
The thought of Poseidon, the man I despised the most, jokingly flirting with people just made me uncomfortable. "I sure hope not..." I mumbled.
As we started to get off the beach, he spoke again. "Alright, the town should only be a mile or so away. Think you can make it, SquidBoy?"
"Stupid nicknames is a genetic thing too huh?"
"I'm going to take your sass as a yes."
"Oh thank... I have no idea who I'm supposed to thank but whoever they are, THANK YOU!" I said as buildings came into view.
"Who said that was where we're stopping?" I whipped my head around at him in shock, getting a laugh out of him. "Kidding! Yes, this is it."
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. "Don't do that to me, chicken."
"And you lectured me about stupid nicknames! At least I was creative!"
I rolled my eyes. "More creative than the penguin, I'll give you that." I said as he carried the two of us along.
Joe grinned. "What does he call you?"
"... krankykid..." I mumbled under my breath.
"What?" I gritted my teeth.
"KRANKYKID, OKAY?" I wanted to cross my arms but since one was still around his shoulder and if I moved it I'd fall, I resorted to glaring at the ground instead.
As expected, the wayward king started to giggle. "KrankyKid? That's perfect though!"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS-" I cut myself off in sudden realization. Joe tried to stop himself from snickering but was failing miserably. "... Okay, fine. I'll give your brother some credit for it but I swear if you start calling me KrankyKid-"
"Stop calling me "Chicken" and we've got a deal." He offered.
I blinked. "Well what else am I supposed to call you?"
"Joe?" I squinted my eyes at him, giving a silent 'No'. He thought to himself before getting another stupid smile on his face. "How about, "My king"?" He bit his cheeks to keep himself from laughing.
"Not even if you paid me." I scoffed.
Before he could suggest anything else, we started to enter the town, and people began to talk.
"Who's that?"
"That chicken- Joe was it? He brought someone new."
"They're purple, and have... Tentacles?"
"Is that what I think it is? Surely not, I haven't seen a kraken in years."
I couldn't help react to their words and stares, but it was the word 'Kraken' that caught me off guard. They know who I am... I gotta get out of here. I glanced around rapidly. What if they're like Atlantis? What if they decide to-
"Calm down there, SquidBoy!" A British voice brought me back to reality. I glanced in his direction, getting a reassuring smile. "You're gonna give yourself a heart attack."
I gulped, nodding but still kept an eye around me. "They're friendly, just weary of strangers. They mean no harm, I promise!" He insisted. "Now come along, unless you want your tentacles to fall off."
***************************
Okay, sorry but I had to stop or that'd go on for another couple thousand words. I had a lot of fun with their interactions because I couldn't stop thinking about how KrakenKid would still see him as a huge threat like he does with Cody, but then get thrown off by this goofy, jokester of a chicken who refuses to let his more dangerous emotions get the best of him.
SquidBoy, holy crap I'm so proud of that nickname.
Quick but important question: Due to the amount of ideas I got for this, and love I had for making this, I'm thinking of making a book off of it! Should I? Because if y'all think it's eh, I'll probably just stick to what I got, but if you like it, I'll somehow make room.
Anyways, I hope you liked it! Be sure to comment your thoughts and please answer my question because I'm about a step away from making it, someone just needs to give the push. Farewell!
