06; something's coming

Music played around Evelyn Brown as she danced in the sand alongside Leah Clearwater, a smile on the older girl's face helped Evelyn's lips curve upwards. Evelyn let out another laugh when Rachel Black joined them, sand hitting Evelyn's legs as Rachel tugged Leah closer.

Evelyn bit back a grin as Leah Clearwater turned and nabbed Emily Young, a shy smile on the female shapeshifter's lips as she made her cousin join in on the festivities. Evelyn tipped her head back and laughed again as Emily joined in, and Evelyn kept her eyes on the stars as her hips swished to the beat.

Embry Call sat with Paul Lahote, since Jacob Black wasn't at the bonfire, and Jared had left to go pick up Kim from babysitting. Paul's eyes moved to the four girls, his eyes scanned over Evelyn and Rachel in an effort to make sure the two were okay. Paul elbowed Embry to pull the younger wolf's attention to him, before Paul cleared his throat.

"I just want to let you know that Evelyn isn't the girl for you if you're going to break her heart." Paul's voice was gentle, gentler than Embry had ever heard. Embry felt his brow furrow as his eyes moved from watching Evelyn's hips, and his dark eyes met Paul's.

"I never planned on breaking her heart." Embry quickly responded, and Paul shrugged his shoulders slightly as he took a sip of his watered down iced tea. The music had changed to a faster beat song, and Paul bit back a chuckle as his imprint helped his girlfriend match the beat.

God what he's do for his girls.

"I'm just saying, I don't know what you plan on doing once you find your imprint- but don't break her heart. She isn't that girl Embry." Paul quickly explained, before Embry let out a soft chuckle. Evelyn playfully bumped her hip against Emily's, and Embry watched as the soft silk of Evelyn's dress shifted. It had dragged up her thigh slightly, which showcased the puckered skin of her leg, and Embry felt his mouth go dry.

"What type of girl is she then?" Embry questioned, and Embry watched as Evelyn's fingers curled around her medallion as her eyes fluttered shut. Paul took another sip of his drink, his eyes moved past the girls to see Jared's truck pull into the area that they used to park. Kim had quickly jumped out, and joined the girls in a second. Evelyn's free hand fluttered to tap the tempo against Kim's bare arm, and soon Kim's hips fell in tune.

"Evelyn Brown is the type of girl you fall in love with," Paul took a slow sip of his drink as he kept his eyes trained on Embry Call, and Jared bumped his elbow slightly against Paul's side in a greeting. Jared's eyes moved to watch Kim, who had her head tipped back in laughter, Evelyn's lips rapidly moving to tell the punchline to a joke Jared hadn't fully heard. "Evelyn Brown is the type of girl you bring home to your mom. She's the kind of girl you take dancing, to the movies, to tiny cafes in forgettable neighborhoods. Evelyn Brown is the type of girl you fall in love with, and you won't even know until it's too late to back out of it."

"Sounds like you love her." Embry's voice is quiet, his eyes left Evelyn's hips to watch the embers of the fire spark, and Paul dips his shoulders in a shrug. Paul took another sip of his drink, and crunched an ice cube between his teeth as he thought. Paul had never thought of Evelyn like that, and honestly?

It grossed him out.

"In a way of course I do. She's practically my sister." Paul moved his eyes to meet Rachel's, who offered a large grin, before her eyes moved back to Evelyn's slightly glossed over ones. "But I'm not dumb either Embry. You need to figure out what you're doing, before you or her get hurt. Not even for her sake, for yours as well."

Embry watched as Paul handed his drink off to Jared, before in a couple of strides he caught Evelyn just as the seventeen year old's knees gave out. Evelyn's hands fluttered against Paul's arms, her forehead pressed against Paul's shoulder as she continued to mouth words to herself. Paul carefully sat Evelyn Brown on his knee once he sat himself down, and after Evelyn downed a cup of water her eyes searched for Sam Uley.

"Something's coming. Something's coming." Evelyn rapidly repeated, and Sam strode forward to kneel down in front of Evelyn. His eyes met Paul's over Evelyn's shoulder, before they flickered down to the glossed over eyes that belonged to Paul's imprint. "Sam, something is coming. Something is coming."

"Hush, little wolf. C'mon, can't understand you when you babble." Sam hushed Evelyn, his hands lightly pushed the solo cup back up to her lips, which caused Evelyn to take a few more sips of water. Evelyn pushed the cup away with shaky hands, her lips curled down in a scared grimace as her fingers uncurled from around her medallion. Sam sucked air through his teeth at the sight of Evelyn's burnt hand, and Rachel moved to grab the wet washcloth from Emily's outstretched hand.

"Something's coming." Evelyn breathed, before the teen let out a whine once Paul pressed the cool cloth to Evelyn's palm. Her medallion had never burnt her skin, and Evelyn let Embry unclip the chain from around her neck. Sam watched the change in shock, as Evelyn's usually clear eyes seemed to gloss over in a second, and Evelyn shook her head to try to keep her mind clear.

"Pup, come on." Paul breathed, and Evelyn's eyes cleared for just a moment to meet Sam's. Evelyn let out a shaky sigh as Paul continued to dab at her burnt palm, and she let her body slump against Paul's as she let out a soft whine of a name.

"Victoria."

Evelyn nuzzled her cheek against Paul's shoulder, her arm weakly wrapped around his middle as he moved her to where Jacob stood in the forest. Embry followed close behind in wolf form, and his wet nose pressed against Evelyn's back in an attempt to find comfort. Jacob stormed off from the woods after he nodded his head in greeting at the trio, and Evelyn strained her ears to hear the rumble of a car come to a stop.

"Who?" Evelyn's question was stopped short as she let out a small cough, and Paul rubbed her shoulder soothingly, before he offered the water bottle he brought along. Evelyn took a quick drink, and Embry let out a low whine as he moved closer.

"Edward and Isabella. Just need to tell them a few things, then we can go back home, yeah?" Evelyn nodded quickly at Paul's words, her hand rubbed against her chest in an attempt soothe herself. She'd made the decision to not wear her medallion, but she missed the comfort it gave her. Though the burn on her hand made something ache inside of her, something had gone wrong, she's missed something. Evelyn just wasn't sure what she missed yet.

Evelyn watched as Jacob came back through the woods, followed by Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen. The vampire moved his head quickly to meet Evelyn's eyes, his own wide in shock at the closeness Evelyn was against the two pack members. Evelyn nodded her head slightly before she offered a slight smile to Isabella, before her eyes landed on Jacob.

"You're alive." Jacob's words were harsh, and Evelyn tuned them out quickly. Evelyn honestly didn't have the energy to listen to Jacob whine, and Evelyn watched as Edward bit back a smile- no doubt having heard Evelyn's thoughts.

Edward turned on his heels to face Evelyn, and offered a small smile as his eyes scanned over Evelyn's form. He couldn't deny that Evelyn looked good, healthy even. The pack had taken care of the teen when his family couldn't, with that, Edward was grateful.

"We'll take care of Victoria." Edward promised, which caused Evelyn to nod her head shyly, her lips pulled upward slightly at the firmness that was in Edward's tone. Evelyn took another sip of her water, before she let Paul shift her so her weight was pressed against Embry's side. Evelyn was weaker than Paul would like, and Paul's warm hand found the back of Evelyn's neck to gauge his imprint's temperature. "What's wrong with her?"

"Her necklace burnt her hand." Paul's short explanation was more than enough for Edward, before Edward bobbed his head slightly in the direction of La Push.

"Get her home. I'll tell Carlisle about Victoria. We'll help." Edward's words did little to soothe Paul's worries, but Paul could agree that Evelyn wasn't in her right mind. Paul lifted Evelyn so she could sit on Embry's back, and Paul ignored Isabella Swan's eyes as he did so.

"See you soon Jake." Evelyn leaned forward to tuck her face into Embry's fur, and the jostle of his movement caused her eyes to flutter shut. Why did she feel so bad? Evelyn's cheek found a home against Embry's shoulder blade, before she let her eyes open so she could watch the trees. Paul's wolf form guided the way, Evelyn had caught a glimpse of his form when he moved to the front.

Evelyn let her eyes close for what she though was just a second, but warm arms pulled her off of Embry, and Evelyn whined as she opened her eyes. Sam Uley had her cradled against his chest, and Evelyn moved her head slightly to see Embry and Paul followed only footsteps behind. Evelyn breathed in shakily as Sam continued to walk, and her chest rattled as she let out another cough. Sam Uley's eyes closed slightly as he winced, and his steps slightly faltered when Evelyn's breath slowed.

Evelyn curled in on herself once Sam placed her on his sofa, and Evelyn watched as Embry wrapped her medallion in a piece of cloth so she could hold it. The silver glinted softly in the yellow tinged lights of the living room, and Evelyn coughed again as she flipped the medallion over. The man's face, Apollo, seemed almost scared. Evelyn didn't recall it always looking like that, and the seventeen year old pulled Sam's house phone from the side table behind her.

"What are you doing, pup?" Embry asked softly, and the shapeshifter watched as Evelyn's cheeks warmed slightly at the nickname. Embry knew that Evelyn was slightly embarrassed by the nickname, though she tended to deal since it was only Embry or Paul who said it.

"Something I probably should've done a long while ago." Evelyn quietly explained, and the pack watched as Evelyn let out another cough as she dialed numbers quickly. Once the phone began to ring, it was quickly pressed against her ear, and Evelyn leaned back slowly. Her fingers unwrapped from the covered medallion, and the teen watched as the metal glinted again. There was a quiet greeting on the other end of the phone, and the pack watched as Evelyn let out a soft sigh- before she threw her arm over her eyes to block the light.

"Mom? I think we need to talk about my dad."
