00; eclipse prologue

"Is it dire that you go and get this cardigan?" Leah Clearwater complained, her knuckles taut as she held onto the steering wheel. Evelyn Brown playfully blew a raspberry as she folded her arms over her chest, before she firmly nodded her head. "I don't even know how your friend got ahold of the thing."

"She's not my friend." Evelyn let out an indignant huff of air as she leaned back in the passenger seat, lips pursed. If Evelyn Brown was being honest, she was maybe being petty, but she didn't care. While Evelyn was away, Jacob had decided to lend one of the seventeen year old's cardigans to Isabella Swan. Evelyn hadn't seen it since she'd been back, and Evelyn was uncharacteristically livid. "I don't like her."

"Believe me, gumdrop- I know." Leah barked with a laugh, and her smile widened at the sight of Evelyn's reddened cheeks. Evelyn playfully twisted her fingers, and a gold light playfully snapped at Leah's thigh. "C'mon now, gumdrop. Don't start something you can finish, put the pretty light away."

"You're annoying." Evelyn huffed as she settled her fingers onto her lap, and the light disappeared. Her photokinesis was a neat party trick, and she was honestly thrilled that her grandfather had taught her how to utilize it. It came in handy, even if she only used it to bother the pack.

The Cullen household loomed over them once Leah pulled into the driveway, and the shapeshifter turned the car off with a twist of her key. Evelyn very slowly climbed out from Paul's truck, and the seventeen year old couldn't help but uneasily shift. Evelyn hadn't reconciled with the Cullen's, and to be this near the house without doing so made her uncomfortable. Leah was at her side in a moment, and the female shapeshifter's hand was against her lower back in an attempt to soothe her friend.

Evelyn couldn't help but shy into Leah's side at the sight of Jasper Hale, who stood on the front porch, a shy smile on his own face. His lips twisted even further up when Evelyn stumbled, though Leah was there to get her onto her feet again. Evelyn looked good, Jasper couldn't deny that. The pink flush of her cheeks screamed healthy, and Evelyn gnawed on her bottom lip as she came to stand at the bottom of the Cullen's porch steps.

"Um, Isabella has my cardigan?" Evelyn's words were phrased as a question as she eyed her ex-boyfriend, and Jasper nodded quickly. Evelyn's fingers shook slightly as she tucked some of her hair behind her ear, and Jasper bit back a whine at the pure terror she felt.

"The long grey one? We washed it, if you both want to come in?" Jasper offered as he took a step back, and Evelyn as well as Leah nodded their heads. Once inside, Evelyn shyly stepped away from Leah's embrace, for a good reason in her mind. Leah went to question Evelyn, before her eyes met the golden eyes of Alice Cullen.

Leah Clearwater's lips parted as she took a stumble of a step forward, and Alice Cullen let out a shy giggle as she neared the female shifter. Evelyn watched as Leah took another step forward, and her arm snaked around Alice's middle. Alice took a tiny step forward as her arms moved around Leah's neck, fingers entwined in the hair at the nape of the shapeshifter's neck, before their lips met.

Evelyn diverted her eyes with a laugh, and they then landed on Jasper Hale, who offered Evelyn Brown her cardigan with a knowing smile. Evelyn slipped her arms into the garment as Jasper held it, and she shivered as Jasper untucked her curls with careful fingers.

"I'm seriously believing you planned this." Jasper whispered, and Evelyn let out another shiver at the feeling of Jasper's breath against the back of her neck.

"Can I plead not guilty?" Evelyn quipped, and Jasper stifled a chuckle at the pure sass in Evelyn's voice. Evelyn spun around on her toes, lips quirked in a smile at the happiness that had spread across Jasper's face. Evelyn was still mad, she couldn't deny that, but her grandfather as well as her newly found extended family had explained Jasper's intentions. Evelyn was honestly just waiting for a genuine apology, and maybe some chocolate banana cookies.

"How was your trip?" Jasper asked softly, and he bit back a sigh at the pure happiness that radiated from Evelyn at the question. Evelyn had been in New York for almost the whole month of April, and she spent every moment with her immediate and extended family. It had been perfect.

"Amazing." Evelyn admitted, and she shyly rocked on her toes as she met Jasper's soft eyes. "I missed you."

"I am truly sorry, Evelyn Brown." Jasper's voice cracked humanly, and Evelyn's lips quirked upward. She had forgiven him the moment the words breeched his lips, though she raised an eyebrow slightly. She wasn't going to just hand her forgiveness to him, no, she'd make him work for it. Chocolate banana cookies would be brought up later, but what could she ask for that wasn't stupid?

"Want to make it up to me?" Evelyn questioned, and she ignored Leah's sharp laugh, and the sound of lips pressing together. She was so taking credit for that, thank you visions. The cardigan truly wasn't that important, more so a principle, though her dream last night had shown Leah and Alice together.

However, there had been less making out in it.

"Of course." Jasper's voice was firm, and Evelyn let out a nervous giggle as she tucked some of her hair behind her ears again, and went pink at the sight of the scrunchie that Jasper pulled from his pocket. Evelyn nibbled on her lip as Jasper took a step toward her, before she counted the upcoming months in her head, as her lips split into a smile. Her grandaunt had told her about this, and this would make a perfect apology.

"There's an eclipse soon- let's go see it together."
