Chapter 18: More than you can chew
Lilith/Sabrina
"You should have seen him," Sofia Diaz laughed as we shared a cocktail, "looked like he was going to have a stroke! He never expected to lose quite that much money," I laughed with her, feeling the alcohol warm and loosen me up.
Sofia had been telling me stories about people from her casino ever since she came up to me. I still couldn't quite believe that the Armani's are already hosting another party. Just like with the last one, there didn't appear to be a reason for this. It was like these people had nothing better to do with themselves. That day I was shining like a star.
I wore a bright red ball gown with a very low v-neck. It had very thin spaghetti straps and way too much material at the bottom of the dress. It was absolutely stunning though. I felt like a star. I opened my mouth to reply to her when I saw Arciom Rup walking towards the bar we were at and my heart seemed to stop beating for a moment. That was one memory I didn't need to be reminded of.
"Excuse me" I blubbered, my tongue tripping over my words. I stood up quickly, almost tripping over my dress as I turned and speed-walked in the other direction. My cheeks burned in embarrassment when I realised a lot of people saw my disgraceful escape. I kept walking, looking back behind me the whole time. Just when I thought I was losing him, I decided to finally look ahead and realised I almost bumped into someone else.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I mumbled, running a hand through my hair, which froze in midair. I almost screamed when the man turned around. Gabriel Armani was now looking up at me with a very unhappy expression. Please. I thought to myself. Not this again. I turned on my heels and scrambled towards a nearby doorway.
I didn't care where it led, all I cared about was getting as far away from that party as possible. I ran up a random staircase, and into the first room I noticed. I banged the door shut behind me, and breathed deeply, with my head resting against the door. I was sure I'd be safe there. Horrifying memories ran through my mind.
"You finally arrived," said a deep voice behind me and I froze. No. Don't let this happen again. I turned around slowly and saw a man sitting down on the bed. I knew the man from somewhere, but I couldn't pinpoint who it was. I didn't know what to say anymore, but I was too tired to run. I decided to just roll with it and hope this man wasn't as crazy as the other ones I've met.
I slouched against the door as the man stared at me, a chunk of dark red hair covering his right eye. I thought I could see a huge scar poking out from underneath. His identity registered just as he started talking again.
"What are you waiting for?" He stood up and walked towards me. He turned me around to face him properly. "You do realize who I am, right? Ajay fucking Raichand." My hunch was correct. Ajay Raichand. Head of the Raichand family who are allied with the Armanis. A truly horrid man who has been murdering people since he was fourteen. He was a merciless killer who was only second to Matteo Armani.
Suddenly going into this room felt like a massive mistake. From what I have seen, one misstep would get my brains shot out. He roughly grabbed my face, making me look up at him.
"And I paid a lot of money for you. If you can't do your job right, I will fucking kill you. I don't want my 289th murder to be a prostitute. Got it?" He dug his nails into my face and moved his hand up and down, making me nod. He finally let go of my face and moved back, taking his jacket off.
"Your profile said you can take 10 inches in your mouth, which is why I paid the extra." I heard the sound of a zipper being pulled out, making my attention snap to Ajay. His pants were already pulled down, his shaft resting in his hand. I just stood there in shock, gaping at the man like an idiot. He expected- I was supposed to-
I knew that there was no way I would play the role of a prostitute. Not after what Gabriel had done to me. I spent that whole night waking from nightmare after nightmare. I could still see him whenever I was alone. Staring. Sneering.
I opened my mouth to explain the blunder we made, but one look into his charcoal black eyes shut my mouth. If I hadn't done that, I never would have left this place alive. "So, what are you waiting for? Show me your skill, you little whore." He said and sat down on the bed. I bit down on my lip as hard as I could. My throat seemed to have dried up completely.
I almost felt like no matter what I did, I would always end up with this same fate. I would always be this little thing the men could play with. If I said anything, I'd just be killed. I couldn't understand how the other ones managed to keep them away. They all looked so badass and sure of themselves while I was just Sabrina. And Sabrina is not a good person to be during an undercover mission like this. I knew I was not set out for this- I had told everyone that I'll only slow the mission down. Of course my mother hadn't believed me. They always had to force me into situations like these. If I had just been stronger. It always had to come down to this.
I took a deep, shaky breath. I knew the most important thing was for me to come out of this alive. Even if it meant going through this pain again. I slowly started to get down on my knees in front of him.
Suddenly both of our attentions snapped over to what I could only call my knight in shining armour. Ironically, this one was wearing the most beautiful black gown. It was made of a soft satin material with a massive tulle spreading out around it. A soft laced cape rested against her shoulders and fell back behind her. My eyes finally met the woman's. It was Alessandra Armani. She looked down at me, her black eyes wide with shock. Noone moved a muscle for a while. Alessandra crossed her arms over her chest.
"What are you doing, uncle?"
Her usually soft voice was set in a dangerous tone. I gaped at her with an open mouth. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Ajay grunted, his tone holding the same challenge.
"Now could you kindly get out and lock the door?" He turned his gaze back towards me. I gritted my teeth when I locked gazes with her again. She was looking down at me with an annoying smirk planted across her face. Her gaze was patronising. She finally looked back at Ajay.
"Okay, uncle, I'll go do that," She cautioned with a smile. "But if I do that- I'll go tell my dad you're raping one of the Armani Captains."
My eyes widened at her retort. Could I actually be saved by this woman? Ajay looked back at me in confusion. I stood up slowly. I finally realised that I had the higher ground in this situation. I was a captain, for god's sake. He couldn't do anything to me.
"You're not a prostitute?" he asked, and I shook my head. I was going to say something, but Alessandra beat me to it. "She's not," The woman leaned against the doorframe. "So how about you deal with your confusion while I take her with me?"
She quickly grabbed my arm and yanked me out of the room, clamming the door shut behind us. I couldn't describe the relief I was feeling. It was almost like a weight was lifted off my heart. I could have kissed her feet if she had asked me to. Alessandra looked at me, her eyes full of pride. I opened my mouth to thank her, but she put a finger to my lips.
"You don't have to explain yourself, sweetheart. I know that all the men in this business are absolute scum. The male species believes that just because they have that little thing between their legs, they can rule the damn world." She took hold of my arm again and we walked down the corridor.
"They only think about themselves, those ones. That is why us girls need to stick together. I have your back, and you've got mine." She smiled as we walked down the stairs. I could hear the party still going on outside. There was screaming and shouting coming from all directions.
I couldn't stop smiling. I really wished that I had the nerve to pull something like that off myself. One could really admire Alessandra for the way she handled the situation.
I followed behind her as we rejoined the party. "How about we dance and forget about everything that happened?" I nodded, hoping my eyes transferred all the gratitude I was feeling. I didn't think I could ever express it in any other way.
