Writing is therapeutic at times

I remember a quote I recently read on insta, it said "If god puts so much detail into a snowflake, what makes you think your life is any less important"

Each life on this planet is precious and it is your responsibility to safeguard it just as you safeguard every other non living thing around you just because that denotes "value".  Why is it that when a money note gets torned, you shout; when a diamond breaks, you haul; when something precious gets robbed, you run to police; but when emotions gets torned, you stay voiceless; when hope breaks, you weep without tears; when peace and happiness is robbed from the conscience, you confine ourselves to four walls and closed doors...Why ??

Is it that emotions, hope, peace and happiness hold no value or have humans started taking them for granted in the social set up we live in !!

Just imagine, had people taken the charge or had they acted right from the day they started to feel weak under the burden of overwhelming emotions, future would have been so different, wouldn't it ??

Suicide is often termed as an act committed in a moment of weakness and that is such a wrong perception to have. Blinded by this fallacy, when someone takes this step we start asking questions like "why this ??" or "statements like it's not fair", "you were stronger than this"

We often forget that it is not "one weak moment" rather "million" such moments that spiral down to this act..we mourn over that one call the person didn't make before taking this step,  but what about those million calls you would have missed or ignored or chided away as "Overthinking" or "exaggeration"

I never have and would never support suicide but my question is what are we doing as a society to stop it ??

Sure, suicide is not a solution of a problem but were you there to tell this to the person in question ?

Ask yourself Were you there to lend an ear to the person who was drowning himself in the abyss of torment, agony and ache ?

Or looking at the facade of successful lifestyle and happiness that such souls often put up as a shield, you assumed that what can possibly go wrong with him, he has everything that fits in your superficial definition of happiness ?

Or if the person said "they are fine", you simply believed their words despite of visible unrest ?

Or a smiley or forwarded message on WhatsApp or a picture on Instagram put up as "the reel world" where everything is fine got you presuming that it is, forgetting "reel" and "real" are different...needless to say obviously you never called or met to actually know if it is really "fine in there" ?

Depression is REAL and DANGEROUS. Unlike cancer or any other disease, there is no lab report for diagnosis. The only diagnosis is either self realisation and a bunch of emotionally attached souls who actually care you. Self realisation is still easy but acceptance is fairly difficult because of the "taboo" associated with mental health and the way our brain functions, it automatically negates what society deems unacceptable. Hence, we need a change in the society and to change it we all need to take small steps individually, and those steps involve "bring acceptability", "stay connected ", "ask" and "be there"

It is important to accept that depression is as severe as any other ailment, you don't think twice before going to the doctor for a flu then why do we refrain from psychiatric consultation despite of knowing how fatal depression is !!

And for everyone else, "Do you bit"..Please stay connected with and be there for the people you care about (if not the entire world) ..if you find something wrong, please ask "What's wrong" and if the person says "nothing";  "ASK AGAIN" !!
