My mother opened my bedroom door, "Are you all packed?" She asked. She had a solemn look on her face. I could tell that she would miss me. But I couldn't bare to be the reason she stayed away from Phil. Phil was my step father, he traveled around the world with his job and was never home. So my mother had been staying home with me the past few years. I love Arizona but I knew I had to do what was best for my family. I put the last pair of shoes in my bag and walked downstairs. "I'm ready." I shouted hoping I used a positive enough tone to make my mother feel better. My mother followed me to her car and we began our drive to the airport.
