Epilogue

New York Theater District: Just Outside

Man, this feels really familiar, Y/N thinks to himself as he once again looks around at all of the police cruisers and ambulance vans around the massive building, tending to the wounded while the blues investigate the abandoned theater, knowing that they are going to find an extreme bloodbath in there. Hopefully, they didn't bring people with a weak stomach in there. Everyone's got their injuries patched up, so here's hoping that they get at least another two years of peace.

He, Sam, and Tara stand next to the ambulance as the corners wheel an injured Kirby over to it, though they pause so the group can share a quick goodbye in case they can't see her in the hospital. "If you ever need me, call. We're all apart of the same fucked-up family, now." Kirby offers it to them, knowing that the three of them need people to talk to. "And Legacy doesn't always have to be a bad thing."

"Amen." Y/N agreeingly says with a nod, before he then looks over and sees Tara biting her lip as if trying to suppress something. But he knows her the best, that she can't, and in a few seconds, the girl then can't help but start sobbing in front of everyone.

"Hey..." Kirby looks over at her, and so does everyone else, concerned. "What's wrong?"

"It's just.... Ethan." Tara explains as she waves her hand in a way that's clearly apologizing for crying during a moment of peace, even though she has every right to do so. Even if he was really awkward and shy, she really liked him. "I watched him...."

"And Wayne, he didn't make it either." Y/N adds as he glances down with a depressed face. He looked up to him as a cop, having been grateful for what he's taught him. He wishes so much that things could've been different for the both of them. "They didn't deserve that."

"Well, you got the bastard that did it, so I'm sure they're cheering for us right now." Kirby mentions with a tiny smirk, before chuckling and cringing at herself. "Sorry, I know, now is not the time to be cheesy."

"No, please, we need cheesy right now." Y/N encourages her with a raised hand as he and Sam comfort Tara while she cries about Ethan's death. "Here, this little guy will help you feel better...." He states as he pulls out Carl from his inventory and hands it over to Tara.

"Wait, this is Carl?" Tara queries as she eyes it with a raised brow, while Sam recognizes the bug herself.

"Oh my gosh..." Sam cringes with a face palm.

"Yup, he's your new best friend."

"I'm not gonna ask." Kirby states with hands raised in surrender as Y/N once again moves his friend around like the bug he represents. Although Tara is still crying, they do thankfully make her smile a little bit by talking like awkward morons. She takes the bug as the kind gesture it is.

"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" They then hear a frantic voice and look over to see Mindy Meeks running through everything and everyone to get to them, apparently having been trying to do since however long it took her to here. "Are you okays? What happened? Do we know who the killer is?" She asks them urgently, really wanting to know.

"It was Sam and Tara's Dad, posing as Trevor's cameraman." Y/N answers for her in a surprisingly calm voice, and the two sisters nod in confirmation. They've pretty much have processed it for themselves and realized that a deadbeat like that man doesn't deserve to be remembered in a sad way, even if he did have a wife like their mom.

"It was the cameraman?! Did I miss the monologue again?" Mindy exclaims in shock, before grabbing her face and smacking herself silly as it all makes sense to her. "Fuck, a nod to Nancy Loomis who was hidden in plain sight and the second killer to go solo, screw my life!"

"Hey, relax, there's never gonna be a next time." Sam assures her with a tap on her shoulder to which Mindy nods, until she realizes that the woman said 'never'.

"I don't know if I should be disappointed or glad to hear that."

"Stick with glad, it's good for the soul." Y/N quips with a small encouraging nod, and the two all chuckle as Kirby is then fully taken into the ambulance by the paramedics.

"Are you okay?" Mindy asks Sam as she notices the cut on her shoulder, then sees the massive bandage on Y/N's upper chest. "Are you okay? You don't look okay." She states the obvious, before realizing that she should probably go follow Kirby into the ambulance just in case. "I don't think I'm okay either...."

She trails off as she steps next to Kirby inside, along with Tara who looks at both Y/N and Sam with a considering face. "I'll.... leave you two to make out some more." She teasingly tells them before she goes to hop into an ambulance as well.

"Hey, Tara?" Sam calls out to her before she leaves though, prompting the girl to pause and turn around. "I'm going to finally be giving you some space, starting now." She promises her with a nod, to which Tara smiles back at her.

"I promise I'll go to therapy." She states, now knowing that she probably needs it after tonight. She then steps into the ambulance, and with that, leaving Y/N and Sam as the only two people who are still here after a crazy showdown.

During the silence, Y/N looks around, swearing that this street is the same exact one he saw in his bleeding-fueled nightmare. Ironically, that dream was right about one thing, it eventually ended with him, but it also ended with Sam. Speaking of which, he looks over and sees that despite what he saw, she isn't cradling his dead body, he's staring at her face, very much alive.

And he wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world.

"What?" Sam asks as she obviously notices the way Y/N stares at her.

Y/N just nods in response. "I love you." He tells her, meaning it by a whole lot. Sam raises a brow before showing him the biggest smile he's ever seen on her face. "A lot."

"I love you, too..... a lot." Sam replies with a tiny giggle, and the two touch each other's faces before sharing a 'about to walk into the sunset' kind of kiss together. After which, the woman glances down as a few thoughts begin grinding up her gears. "We should.... probably get home." She suggests as she then looks at him, allowing Y/N to see the needy, lustful eyes of a woman that really needs him.... right.... now. "As soon as possible."

"Oh, yes, we should." Y/N whole-heartedly agrees as he swiftly lifts Sam up off her feet without warning, causing her to yelp as she finds himself being carried down the street, laughing her ass off as she wraps her legs around her waist.

"Are you really gonna carry me all the way to the complex?"

"Obviously!"

"Your legs are gonna give it."

"Don't start testing me, now, sweetheart!"

As the two walk away, grinning and laughing, out in the background, amongst the crowd, is Piper Shaw who idly plays with her hunting knife. During which, Seth also manifests and walks over next to her, hands in his pockets. "You know, I do agree with one thing that's been said tonight." She mentions, getting her brother's attention.

"Oh yeah? What's that?" Seth asks her homicidal sister with a curious look, to which she gives him a wide smile.

"Legacy doesn't always have to be a bad thing." She tells him, and Seth agreeingly nods. The two are now silent as they just stand back and watch as their brother acts like the happiest man on Earth, kissing and giggling with Samantha Carpenter, a life that they, sadly, didn't earn for themselves.

They made their bed, Y/N made a comfier one.

New York: A year later

You know, usually, after getting almost mauled by a serial killer in your own apartment, you would have a tendency to step away and move out so you don't get reminded, but honestly, Sam Carpenter feels better than she ever has in a long time, and that's mostly because of the people who have still stuck around, in spite of this.

"Hey..." The voice of Y/N brings Sam back to the present, back in the parking lot where the two are planning to move out to find a job and future they actually want, one that doesn't involve being the 24/7 watch for Tara Carpenter's collage life. "You okay?"

"Yeah, yeah..." Sam quickly confirms, looking away from the sun and back towards the car they are loading all of their stuff in. "Just um.... getting lost in thought, I guess."

"Alright, well, please get lost in these boxes instead. I'm starting to feel the age of backpain." Y/N requests with an old-man-like groan as he stuffs one into the back, causing Sam to smirk in response as she walks back over to get back to lifting. During which, though, the cop notices something in one of the containers. "Wait, is this Carl?" He calls out, pulling the rainbow caterpillar out of his prison before turning to his girlfriend with a look of betrayal. "Are you serious?"

"What? You said to put him anywhere?"

"Not in here!" Y/N corrects her as he gestures towards the box as if actually offended. "This is Carl, remember? He is gay!"

"Oh my gosh..."

"Hey, guys!" Tara's voice calls out to them, causing them to look over and see the girl and Mindy approaching them with overly big smiles on their faces. "You still have stuff to take out? What'd you bring, an entire army of guns too."

"Hey, not my fault this guy over here wanted to bring his entire stuffy collection with him." Sam remarks as she points to Y/N with a grin, causing him to roll his eyes with a huff.

"They are important members of my army, okay?!"

"Yeah, of course, how could I forget...?"

"So, um.... I think we're all supposed to like.... high-five or something, right?" Tara nervously suggests as she glances between everyone, not wanting the idea to sound too corny. "Kind of like the gang in every Scooby movie?"

"Yes! Amazing idea!" Y/N points to her as he's the first to raise up his hand. "Core High-Four!"

"We're not calling it that." Mindy quickly shoots down with a look before eventually raising hers as well. "But, okay..."

The four do whatever kind of high-five they can make with four separate people, still making it look like a soccer team pumping themselves up before a game, but they don't really care. This moment feels hilariously right.

"Alright, well... don't get into too much trouble out there, okay?" Tara requests as she stares at the two of them with of genuine concern, even if she tries to hide it with a playful smile. "I don't wanna start developing an over-bearing protection for you two, as well."

Y/N hums with a face as he glances sideways. "There's an idea..."

"Don't listen to him, we would never do such a cruel thing." Sam quickly chimes in with an honorable knight-like accent, before pausing as she pretends to think on it for a couple seconds. "Well, for the most part."

"Alright, Tara, that's our cue to leave before we get caught in the devil's snare." Mindy humorously warns her fellow collage friend as she pulls her away while she pretends to reach towards them with an overly dramatic look.  Everyone shares a laugh.

As they leave, Y/N taps on the roof of his car, letting out a heavy breath, which Sam can't help but notice. "What?" She asks him with a raised brow, noticing that he's now suddenly gone deep in thought like she was a few seconds ago.

"It just..... this reminds me all of the ending to a Steven Spielberg movie." Y/N shares with Sam as he stares up at the floor he knows they all shared together in their own separate apartments. "Completely happy, maybe too good to be true." He says with a shrug as he turns to her. "I expected us to be more.... messed up at this point."

Sam blinks at him before bursting out in laughter, causing the guy to blink and squint at him. "What?"

"I just.... I thought I would be the one to say something like that." Sam explains with a massively amused smile, to which Y/N drops his head. "Then you would come and do something completely stupid to try and cheer me up."

"Oh, you want something stupid?" Y/N questions with a raised brow, walking up to get face to face with her, the tip of their shoes touching. "I got a something silly for ya? How about a cheesy ending to what's been a mostly serious story?"

"That sounds quite interesting..." Sam replies with a slight purr as she softly grabs Y/N's biceps and giving them an affectionate squeeze. "What did you have in mind?"

"An ending where the.... two main love interests that everyone here to see start dancing like this was Twilight." Y/N answers as he pulls out his phone and finds a song that he shows to Sam's face, who gives him a look the second she sees the title.

"Really?"

"Yup." He confirms with a smirk, pressing play.

He takes Sam's hands and interlaces her fingers as he begins moving his hips, causing the woman to laugh at the dorkiness of the situation as she finds herself eventually moving along with him. The two find themselves perfectly in synch, their eyes never leaving the other person's.

Then, they hear abrupt hooting from the sidelines, and look over to see Tara, Mindy, Emily, and Micheal all standing near the front of the complex, root cheering them on. "Yeah! You dance to that shit!" Mindy calls out to them, prompting the others to agreeingly clap in encouragement.

"Oh my gosh..." Sam whimpers in embarrassment, the fun kind, burring her face into Y/N's neck. He doesn't like that one bit though and swiftly wraps his arms around her and lifts her up, and spins her around the best way he can. This gets their tiny crowd cheering louder as he's now holding her up, bride style.

He ignores the obvious teasing of the group a few feet away, taking Sam's chin to kiss her. She's into it, and kisses back. As the shippers leave with happy smiles for them on their faces, the two dance for a little bit more, before they crawl into the car, giving the two some much-needed peace in the safe space of their newly bought vehicle that they plan to share a lot of memories in. "I'm gonna kill you." She informs him once the doors are locked.

"I know." Y/N accepts his fate with a nod. "But at least it's to this song." He says as he connects his phone to the car, putting that Rob Thomas and Santana song on full blast. Sam laughs some more as the two finally drive away in that director's first movie-ending.

Before they start though, Y/N's foot feels something and leans down to reveal the Brandon James mask he pulls up. Their faces change as he and Sam share a slightly haunted look....

Before Y/N tosses it out the window with a smile.

Ready to live their own lives, the two end this story with an infamous shot you'd only find in a director's first movie.

Driving off into the sunset.

(A/N) The story is finally finished!

I would like to take this moment to thank everyone who is currently reading this author's note, meaning that they've stuck around to the end. It was a really fun time, and writing from the survivor's POV turned out to be a surprisingly enjoyable time than I thought. This was quite some ride, and hopefully, I get to do the same thing with Sidney Prescott in the future for Screams 1 and 3 (Maybe 4)

Sam Carpenter, I felt like, didn't get as much love as I personally felt like she should've in the fanfiction community, just because Tara was played by Jenna Ortega. (No offense to the actress, she's amazing as well) I really wanted to do my Latina Queen justice, and it feels good to finally complete that goal. I probably won't do Scream 7 whenever it comes out because I'm still pissed about Melissa Barrera getting fired over such a stupid reason. That's why I did the Mr. Carpenter reveal, because that was how I felt like concluding this Requel duology.

Anyway, plz vote and comment, any counts as feedback, and thank you for reading!
