Chapter 1: A Little Like Halloween

Modesto: Cardinal Lanes

Life has finally gotten back on track for Samantha Carpenter. She's gotten herself a job, a place to stay, and 'the nice guy' as a boyfriend to keep her from being more of a mess than she usually is. She's also fixed herself, the last time she was in this scenario, the high school version, she tore it all apart herself. But now she's back in her..... prime-in-progress? Yeah, she'll call it that.

Sitting down on the parking lot of the bowling alley she works at, she grabs her medication and pops in the recommended about of tablets before downing them with an energy drink she got from the vending machine. Right after that, the doors behind her open and a tall man with facial hair that's close to a beard, and brightly-innocent face steps out and walks towards her. "Excuse me, miss?" He calls out to, causing her to jump a little bit as she was completely in her own world in that moment. "What did you just take?"

"Your boner pills." Sam replies with a snarky tone in petty revenge for him purposefully catching her off guard. "Good luck getting in up now."

The guy, Richie Kirsch, hums as he kneels down and sits beside her. "You, um...." He presses his lips together, knowing that he has to have a come-back to her come-back. "You are my boner pills."

Sam bursts out laughing.

Dice roll, failed.

"No, no....." Richie shakes his head with Sam, both agreeing that this was definitely not his finest moment, and for dork history, that says a lot about him. The two decide to make peace with a greeting kiss, allow them to just sit calmly with each other while they are on break. "You okay?"

"Yes..." Sam assures him with a slightly tired tone of having to hear that every day of the week.  Her phone then also starts humming and buzzing, causing her to check it to see a call from.... Wes Hicks? That's interesting, given how she hasn't talked to him in a while. "You don't have to check on me all the time, I'm not breakable."

"Yeah, this I know." Richie notes with a cheeky smile as Sam denies the call. However, a few seconds later, she gets a text from him instead.

Wes: It's Wes Hicks. Don't know if you remember me. please call me ASAP, it's about Tara.

Wes: And Y/N

"Shit..." Sam quietly swears, causing Richie to look at her with that same concerned expression she tried dismissing two seconds ago. Bringing up her sister was one thing, bring both her and Y/N up in one, technically two, text messages tells her that her break is not going to be enjoyed.

She stands up from the concrete and calls him back, it doesn't take too long for him to pick up. "Sam?" Wes's voice, although a lot deeper, is still recognizable to her.

"Hey, what's going on?" Sam asks him in her most casual tone possible, though she still feels some nostalgia in a very odd way.

"Uh....." Wes clearly hesitates, causing Sam to feel bad in her stomach. "Y/N......... Y/N and Tara were attacked." She finally reveals, dropping a massive bombshell onto her. Even though she doesn't have any kind of smile or smirk, she can feel her lips drop in shock.

"What?"

"They're..."

"Are they...?"

"They're alive, but....... Tara was put in the hospital for surgery." Wes tells her, sounding like he's trying to keep himself together as well. "They were.... they were both stabbed by a guy with a knife, Tara also shows signs of being beaten-"

"Stabbed?! Beaten?!" Sam exclaims, not liking how West keeps going with the details. Richie begins to stand up, going from concerned to worried as he watches how she reacts to whoever she's talking to. "What the fuck?"

"Tara's made it through surgery, the doctor said it went well, and Y/N's just left the hospital with a few bandages and scars." Wes assures her though, reminding the woman who's still processing all this that it's not all bad news. "Look, I know the three of you all aren't on the best of terms, but-"

"I'm on my way." Sam tells him, not needing to be asked to show up. She has to at least be standing next to her sister's hospital bed, even if she's scared of seeing Y/N once again. Wes doesn't respond at first, but she can tell that he's nodding on the other side of the phone, glad to hear it.

"She's gonna be okay, Sam. We'll see you soon-"

"Okay, hey, wait!" Sam quickly says before Wes can hang up, having one more thing on her mind. "Wes?"

"Yeah?

Sam swallows before asking. "Do they know who did this?" She queries, causing Wes to go silent again for a couple seconds.

"It's... It's probably better if you just come here..."

"Wes."

Another second of silence from the teen as he's likely considering how he's going to say this. "Y/N said it was someone in a fucking Ghostface mask." Wes reluctantly tells her, causing a chill to go down Sam's spine. At that moment, she hangs up the phone, and notices Richie staring at her with an obvious face that wants details, but is too polite to ask.

"My sister and friend were just attacked." Sam informs Richie with a haunted expression on her face, though notably doesn't mention a certain thing about the latter. "I-I have to go."

"Wait, wait, hey, hey!" Richie steps in front of her before she immediately takes off, feeling like he's just as scared as she is. "I'm going with you." He tells her, causing her to shake her at him, crazy.

"No, no, Richie-"

"No, no, no, Sam." Richie insists, putting his hands on her shoulders to tell her that wherever she goes, he goes. "I'm coming with you." He promises, not taking no for an answer. Sam understands this and nods with a massive exhale.

"Okay...."

"Okay, yeah."

The two then hug it out, now knowing that their plans for the weekend have changed.

Time to head to Woodsboro.

Woodsboro: Sheriff Station

As it was said, Deputy L/N was back on the job, feeling oddly motivated for some criminal-catching after almost getting his insides sliced open. He's standing at the vending machine with one of his co-workers, maybe friends, Deputy Vinson, who is currently getting told the story of what went down last night.

"Wait, so that's it?" Vinson questions with a raised brow, probably being a skeptic if he wasn't one of the first responders that showed up, just as Ghostface broke into the building. "You pulled the trigger, but he just... got away?"

"I guess..." Y/N replies with a shrug, still not fully understanding either, and he was there. "I mean, I remember holding the revolver like Sam Loomis, shooting at the bastard, and then.... I think I blacked out or something. I don't remember what happened after." He tells him honestly, causing Vinson to hum, oddly invested. "I guess someone hit me in the back of the head or something, but I'm not sure."

"That's some shit luck, man." Vinson comments as he sips his mid-day coffee, to which Y/N agreeingly chuckles. "Anyway, I should finish that report on the missing Meeks triplet, before the Sheriff thinks I'm slacking on the job."

"You mean before she catches you slacking on the job?" Y/N playfully corrects with a teasing face. "Again?"

"Don't know what you're talking about." Vinson mutters with a scoff, causing Y/N to shake his head at him with a grin as he too, goes back to his desk. He has a small stack of paperwork to do, including damages to his own house. To put it simply, despite having insurance, he has to take care of it himself, just with using the town's money.

Whoever told you being a cop had benefits, has only seen the lesbian cop porn for their notes, so don't listen to them.

As he does his thing, he hears the doors opening, it's a small building, and sees in the corner of his eye, their current Sheriff, Judy Hicks, who likely got the job after dealing with her own Ghostface killing spree. She professionally walks past them, greeting a few that she pasts. "Deputy Henry, Deputy Thompson, Deputy Vinson, Deputy L/N."

Then she quickly pauses when she says that last name, and snaps her head towards the man as he types on his desk. "Deputy L/N?" She calls out his name with a questioning tone, prompting him to look up curiously.

"Yes sir?"

"What are you doing here?" She asks him, to which Y/N side-glances, confused as to what she means by that.

"Working?"

"No, I know that, but...." Sheriff Hicks sighs, needing to remind herself that she's talking to a smart-ass. "I thought I told you to take a day off? Those stab wounds don't heal over-night." She reminds him with a look.

"I'm aware of that, Sheriff, but.... I think it would actually be a lot more helpful if I got back to it." Y/N informs her with a small shrug, confident in himself. "Besides, with all due respect, I don't feel safe in my own home at the moment."

"Still, you aren't in the best of shape." Sheriff Hicks brings up, pointing at the bandage under his sleeve, and the ones that are likely still under the rest of his uniform. If anyone attacks him, chances are, they will have a much easier time in round two. "Don't push yourself too hard."

"Your concern is appreciated sir, but personally, I'm going have to leave, ASA." Y/N tells her with a dismissive expression, to which Hicks raises a brow at him. "That means, against Sheriff advice" He tells her for elaboration.

"Alright then. Get yourself ready in a minute, we're going to question the entire school board..." Judy says with a sigh, heading into her office once she sees that the guy is also slightly stubborn in this case. Y/N smiles in triumph as he then finds his little cap, though not before grabbing a handful of jellybeans from his bag and stuffing them in his mouth. Ah... he does love his jellybeans.

However, Vinson then walks up a few seconds later. "Hey, have you been using my computer?" Vinson interrogates him with a slightly irritated voice. Y/N only glances back for a second before getting back to his computer for the last few bits of his damages paper, since it's the only thing he's best at, social interaction being number five, depending on his day.

"Uh, nope." Y/N casually answers after swallowing every piece of his candy as he distractedly presses keys rapidly, understanding only half of what the deputy really said.

"Oh, you sure? Because it's frozen now." Vinson looks over at the computer screen to re-read it before looking back at Y/N with a hint of a glare in his eyes. "On, uh.... BigBootyLatinas.com?"

Y/N abruptly pauses. He slowly looks up at Vinson, who waits for a response.

"You made those words up." Y/N accuses with a dismissive smile and point, his body up-straight a lot more than it probably should be. Vinson raises a skeptical brow, but the guy just gets back to work, causing him to just wave at him dismissively with a big sigh.

"This fucking guy....."

Woodsboro High: Outside

Like most slasher stories, this one involves a group of teens who are going to be way in over their hand, most of them at least, in a couple hours or so. School meets an abrupt end as the news of Tara's attacked sparks another curfew, as old wounds surface for people, 90% probably didn't actually go through it at all. But still, in this case, it's better to be early curfew than sorry.

"Attention Panthers!" The principal Becker's voice emits through the school's speakers. "A reminder that all classes and school activities are canceled tomorrow, due to public safety concern."

"That was Sam..." Wes Hicks informs the others, Amber and Mindy, as he tucks in the phone back in his comment. He was trying to act calm so he didn't get too emotional in front of the others, which is already embarrassing for him when he's normal around them.

"Sam's coming?" Amber Freeman, the richest girl in the entire group, with her black hair that falls down to her shoulders and pale skin that's made people think she's Asian or something for some reason, (Couldn't be me) questions to make sure she heard that right.

"Yeah..."

"Watch everything get worse...." Amber mutters with disgust, causing Wes to drop his head with a sigh. He knows that the girl hates Samantha to oblivion, but the woman's Tara's sister for heck's sake, someone was going to tell her the news. As he shares a look with Mindy, two other people approach the benches they're sitting at.

"Listen, all I'm saying is with everything going on right now, I think it's time we take our relationship to the next, most intimate, level." Chad Meeks argues with his girlfriend, Liv McKenzie, and the others look at them for elaboration as to what the jock's rambling on about now.

"He wants me to accept his Find my Fam request." Liv tells the others, while also giving Chad a look to help emphasize on why she still thinks it's a creepy idea.

"It's the smartest option with a would-be killer who thinks he's Money on the loose. Especially if they're able to break into a deputy's house and rough him up without breaking a sweat." Chad explains to help sell his point, thinking it's just a method of preparing for the future. "You know exactly where I am, and I know exactly where you are."

"Aw, so you can stalk me like a jealous boyfriend?"

"Wide, and you can stalk me like a jealous boyfriend." Chad confirms with a giddy tone, causing Amber to pretend that she's throwing up.

"Is this because you two aren't having sex yet?" Amber teases with an amused laugh, treating the two as if they are her own personal rom-com show, but in real life.

"You bring up a very good point." Chad replies with a point towards her. "Not that I want to sound like the cliche jock trying to get into her girlfriend's panties. But if you're going against a deadly killer, you should-"

"Great!" Liv exclaims to cut Chad off, kissing him on the cheek before he can say anything else weird. Wes shakes his head at the two, not seeing it as funny, in fact, he's probably taking the situation more seriously than everyone else.

"Don't do it, Liv. There's a psycho out there." Wes advises Liv with a face that mimics her mom's in the most accurate way possible. "You make yourself harder to find. Delete social media, tape over your phone camera, disable GPS..."

"Ah, yes. Thank you very much Edward Snowden." Chad sarcastically replies with a fake nod, while Liv mockingly thumbs-up him, to which Wes gives them a snark look back. "Actually, your mother and Y/N just finished interrogated me about Tara's attempted murder, which was very fun." He also adds as he points backwards towards the two cops questioning other students, mostly just jabbing him about the former.

Wes looks over and accidently engages eye-contact with his mother. Judy salutes his cap towards him, and the kid nods back, a little embarrassed. "I'm sure she's asking everybody. I mean.... Ghostface is back."

"The press still isn't saying Ghostface." Mindy Meeks, Chad's sister, points out with a suspicious look, to which Wes shrugs.

"My mom doesn't want to cause a panic."

"Well, it'll get out by the second or third killing." Mindy states what she feels like is the facts with a knowing smirk, causing Amber to give her a look.

"Geez, Mindy, there wasn't a first killing." Amber corrects her with a judging look, wondering how she can talk about something related to their friend so casually. Last she checked, the reason they hang out together is only because of Tara, and Chad keeping the group from ripping each other's heads off. "Tara and Y/N are alive."

"Mmm, I mean, Tara could still die..."

"What the fuck-"

"Or the killer could come back for her...." Chad tries to say quietly, but still gets himself kicked in the leg by Amber. "Okay, okay! Sorry."

"Look, I'm just telling you, arm up! Okay?" Wes takes the moment to warn everyone if they're going to take this whole situation so casually and thinking that they'll need to resort to their phones to survive. "Paper spray? Check. Taser? Check."

"Girlfriend repellent? Check." Amber sarcastically adds, to which Wes just throws up his hands and quits while everyone laughs at him.

"Nice, thank you..."

Everyone's moods have just been lifted, though it's probably not going to last long, especially when Liv's eye catches something, when causes her smile to drop drastically. "Shit, is that.... Vince?" She questions out-loud, causing everyone to turn their heads and see a greaser-looking guy lean against his car, staring at their general direction while trying and failing to be subtle about it.

"Wait, that creep you hooked up with last summer?" Chad recalls as he squints at the weirdo, trying to match his stare with an intimidating version of his own. He's already getting the instinct to stand guard, not liking the look of him.

"Yeah, he.... he worked with me and Tara."

"He worked with Tara?" Amber questions curiously as she looks back towards Liv. "Wait, was he the guy you mentioned keyed Y/N's cruiser?"

"Yeah, and he's been stalking my Instagram the last couple weeks." Liv confirms as she shifts in her seat, uncomfortable. Vince notices her staring back and blows a kiss at her with a playful wave, which makes her feel even worse. Mindy also takes a picture herself, getting bad vibes from him as well, just like everyone else. "Posting the creepiest shit..."

"Probably time to introduce him to Hobbs and Shaw." Chad quips as she fires up his guns protectively, making sure Vince sees his muscles before he thinks of trying anything.

"Maybe not the best idea to incite violence right in front of the sheriff!" Liv points out as she holds Chad back, once again preventing him from making a fool of himself. At that moment though, Vince spits out his tobacco with a grin before getting back into his car, noticing some other eyes on him. "Looks like he's leaving. Thanks anyways, boys." She says while playfully squeezing Chad's muscles.

"You two are just..." Wes begins to comment, only to wince and groan when he accidentally twists his leg in a funny way. "Damn it..."

"Hmm.... Y/N said he fought back hard..." Amber brings up as she looks over at Wes's leg.

"Yeah, didn't he mentioned how the killer accidentally landed on his foot when he pushed him off?" Chad also mentions with a playfully pointed look. "Just saying..."

"Can it, guys. I already told you that I pulled a muscle during my last run." Wes interrupts them with a look, to which everyone chuckles at his expense again. He then gets a ding from his phone, and pulls it out again, seeing a text from the lady of the hour. "Tara's awake. She just texted." He shares with the others, who turn all their undivided attention towards him. "I'm-I'm gonna go to the hospital, you guys coming?"

"Yeah..." Everyone says as they grab their bags and other personal items before going to follow, except for Liv, who makes an awkward face.

"Oh, uh..... I can't." Liv informs them with a small wince. "But I'll, see you guys later?"

"Alright." Chad accepts it, giving his girl a little good-bye kiss. Wes and likely Mindy, on the hand, glance at her with a suspicious look.

After all, everyone's a suspect.

The Woods: Road

Richie and Sam are now currently driving their way to Woodsboro, using the male's car. Who cares if it's a Prius? It's gonna get them from A to B, won't it? Midway, on the path, at least according to the GPS, Richie then drops a bombshell of his own onto the woman, though not as extreme. "I've actually never seen Stab."

Sam, in the passenger seat, looks at Richie as if he just admitted to stabbing and eating a baby alive like he's Black Noir. "You've never seen Stab?" She asks again to make sure, to which Richie hums in confirmation. "Not even the TV Series that just debuted last year?"

"I mean, I've never seen Gone With the Wind either, but I don't consider it like a... huge hole in my cinematic education." Richie remarks with a mental shrug, causing Sam to deduce that he's going to have to expo dump him now.

"Most of the Stab movies are based on things that happen here?" Sam informs him, which makes Richie make a face that wonders how much he's missing out on.

"Define, 'things'."

"Things like.... a guy named Billy Loomis and his friend carved up a bunch of high school kids while wearing this.... Halloween, ghost mask." Sam answers with the best summary she can give.

"You mean like in Halloween?" Richie queries with a squint of his eyes, causing Sam to glance at him with a look. Why does he always keep bringing up Micheal Myers when horror movies get mentioned or when he thinks a place is haunted?

"No, not like in Halloween."

"Oh...." Richie nods, a little disappointed. But then he thinks about it for a little longer. "Sounds a lot like Halloween."

"Alright, it's a little like Halloween." Sam semi-admits with a mental sigh, seeing the similarities. Riche smiles, glad to finally have a reference pay off in his favor. "And every decade or so, some idiot gets the bright idea to put on the mask, kill his friends, and get famous too." She explains to him, leaning against her seat as she thinks about how easily humans resort to it. "Last time it happened was in 2011."

"Huh, you know, that sounds a lot like what happened in another quiet, but rich town." Richie references with a small chuckle, though doesn't explain any further. "And we came here voluntarily?" He humorously questions with a grin.

"Well, I gotta make sure Tara's okay."

"And not Y/N?" Richie asks, noticing how she didn't mention him. Is there something about him that she's not telling him? He immediately takes it back though when he sees Sam's eyes looking down at her lap. "I-I mean, yeah, right, of course." He stutters, not disagreeing with her plan in the slightest. "And I gotta make sure we don't get sliced up by some lunatic who saw Friday the 13th and thought..... 'You know what? That Jason guy, he's got some pretty solid ideas'." He jokes as a way to bring the mood back up, and judging by Sam's smile. He succeeded. They then see them passing the sign that greets them into Woodsboro, which reminds the guy of a question he was wondering a few minutes ago. "Can I ask you something though?"

"Yeah."

"Do you have any idea why somebody wearing that mask would want to...... kill your sister while she was at your friend's house?" Richie asks her with a now empathetic look, trying not to invoke any bad reactions from her. Sam looks outside the window, wishing she could, but being so far apart from them for so long, makes it anyone's guess.

"No...."

Woodsboro: Hospital

"...pretty much everyone either had their parents confirm they were at home, or were with friends, trying to break into a sex toy shop." Y/N is currently going through the investigation's currents status with Wes, Chad, Amber, Mindy, and Tara, as they all stand/sit around near the Carpenter's hospital bed. "So, unless someone comes up with a lead we can use, it's likely that we're going have to keep searching every place we can find until someone breaks curfew. and hits our radar."

"Seriously?" Chad reacts with a mixed look of disappointed and fear. "What about Vince? Liv's been saying that he's stalking her and Tara's social media, have you interrogated him yet?"

"Vince is back?" Y/N questions with a raised brow, to which the other kids nod. "Ah, well.... at least that means that we all won't be standing around for one troublemaker." He quips with a shrug. "In all seriousness, finding him will be a little difficult. I mean, the guy practically lives in his car."

"But-"

"Chad, take it easy." Wes interrupts the guy before he can stress Y/N out even more. "The guy's doing his job, someone else is probably going to question him eventually." He says, to which Chad sighs before leaning back in his chair.

"What about Evelyn?" Mindy then brings up, getting Y/N's attention. "Have you guys gotten any closer to finding her yet?" She asks him. It's a rare moment where everyone sees a look of genuine worry on the girl's face, reminding them that she's human and not a robot full of movie knowledge.

"Uh.... no. And with a wanna-be serial killer on the loose, it's probably not going to get any better. Everyone's gonna probably forget about her depending on how long it takes before we catch this guy." Y/N regretfully gives her the most realistic answer he can give. Mindy appreciates though, slowly nodding with a conflicted face. "In the meantime though, me and Vinson will be here twenty four-seven, meaning that nobody's going to touch Tara unless I tell them too." He tells them, before quickly thinking about how he just phrased that. "Which I won't, I promise.'

"Thanks..." Tara simply says in a weak, tired voice. Her skin has been completely drained of color after her surgery, but after a few days or so, it'll come back. Y/N smiles in response, gently holding her shoulder until the doors open and two new visitors arrive. Everyone stands up at the sight of Sam and Richie stepping into the room.

There's a small, but noticeable moment of Sam and Y/N standing perfectly still as they make tense eye contact with each other, before the male steps aside and puts his back against the wall, allowing her to focus on her sister instead. "Hey, how are you feeling?" She asks Tara as she kneels down to her head level.

"You came..." Tara realizes with a face that looks like she really wasn't expecting it.

"Of course I came." Sam states, like there wasn't any doubt that she would. "This is my boyfriend, Richie." She then introduces, who gives her a very polite smile.

"It's so nice to meet you, and I'm-I'm so sorry if I'm intruding." Richie greets her as friendly as he can, to which Tara responds with a very weak wave, barely looking at him for more than two seconds.

"Nice to meet you too..."

Sam seemingly hesitates for a moment when she stands in front of Y/N, an obvious sense of awkwardness before the two eventually hug in greeting. "I'm glad you came back." Y/N whispers to her, earnestly meaning it. "Good to see ya."

"Good to see you, too..." Sam replies, trying to smile. She then moves on to the teens, finding it a little easier to hug each and every one of them respectfully, except for Amber, who uses her eyes to ask that she doesn't touch her. "Thank you for calling." She whispers to Wes.

"Of course." Wes replies, making it clear that he was going to eventually, no matter how she would've reacted regardless. Sam takes the moment to observe the new him.

"Look at your hair...." Sam notes as she briefly brushes through Wes's dyed blond job, to which he slightly chuckles. "I like it." She comments before standing next to Richie again. "These are Chad and Mindy, their twins, and Wes. I used to babysit them all."

"Which is always how I like to be introduced." Wes quips with a tiny smirk, prompting everyone to chuckle, except for Amber, who just shows a fixed smile on her face.

"And, Amber.... hey." Sam also introduces a littler quieter, not leaving her out. Amber just nods, the fixed smile still on her face so she doesn't start anything with Tara currently in the room.

"Hi, nice to see you..."

"Uh, H-Hi, nice to meet you all. Richie Kirsch." The tall man introduces himself in a slightly shy manner, before looking over at the man in uniform who's still leaning against the wall. "And this is...?"

"Y/N L/N." Sam answers for him, anxiously biting her lip as Y/N smiles and walks over, offering to shake Richie's hand, which he accepts. "He's, um...."

"Her ex-boyfriend." Y/N answers for Sam when he notices her hesitation, causing Riche to pause mid-handshake. His eyes slightly go wide, and his mouth opens into an O, but no words come out at first.

"Oh..." Is all he can really say, looking the guy up and down as he then realizes the kind of situation he's not in. "Wow, okay, you are also a cop." Richie notes as he takes a big swallow. "That's not intimidating at all."

"Relax, buddy, I'm not Dave Hanson........ maybe." Y/N assures him with a chuckle, before clearing his throat due to the atmosphere in the room. "I'm gonna go grab a coffee. Sam, Tara...." He tells them, nodding them both goodbye before walking out of the room. The teens are share a look, knowing how Sam's probably feeling right now.

"Where's mom?" Sam then asks Tara, trying to quickly change the topic before Richie or anyone can ask any questions.

"She's stuck at a conference in London." Tara shares with her, meaning that she won't be joining them any time soon. "She called me earlier."

"Yeah, for all of ten minutes..." Amber adds, bitter grumbling to herself as Tara's head drops. "Uh.... look, guys, Tara's really tired, maybe we should just give her some space." She suggests, advises, suggesting that they do the same thing Y/N just did.

All of them agree, and they all walk out of the room in the line. "Not you, Sam." Tara chimes in as Samantha begins to turn around to leave, making everyone briefly stop. "I want you to stay."

Sam nods, smiling. "Okay." She agrees as everyone else except for Amber and Richie begin walking out of the room. "If it's okay with you, I could sleep here tonight." She offers, to which Tara nods.

"I'd really like that."

"Do you have your extra inhaler?" Amber asks to make sure while putting an arm protectively on Tara who nods and pulls it out from under the sheet.

"Yeah, I'll be fine."

"Okay." Amber accepts the response, giving Sam one last distasteful leer before finally stepping out of the room, the last man stepping backwards to do the same thing.

"I'll just be right outside..." Richie lets her know before making his exit as well, knowing that he should leave the two sisters alone.

With that, he then closes the door behind them, leaving them to their privacy. The two sisters than look at each other, the room now remarkably quieter than it was a few seconds ago. Tara tries to hold it in, but seeing Sam's face and the trauma of being stabbed while helplessly tied in a chair comes in a flash back. "Sam, I was so scared...." Tara tells Sam as she begins sobbing. "Y/N tried to help, but t-they wouldn't...."

"I know, it's okay..." Sam whispers to her, fixing her hair before trying to hold her comfortingly, the sight of Tara like this breaks her heart.

All she can think about, but can't ask out loud, is what the heck happened?

Woodsboro: Hospital

A few hours later, Y/N is walking back from the break room, a third cup filled with coffee in one of his hands as he walks towards the pair of chairs that have been recently posted next to the door that leads to Tara's hospital room, Deputy Vinson being in one of them. "Alright, my turn now, get out of here and get something to eat." Y/N informs him. "And make sure you don't eat the to-go boxes with them this time."

"Very funny..." Vinson sarcastically remarks as he stands up, leaving a cocky Y/N to now take watch. "It comes in three because I ask for extra chicken." He says in his defense, forgetting that he'll get teased, no matter what.

"Sure...." Y/N mumbles skeptically, to which Vinson rolls his eyes before heading out so the guy can do his part of the job. Taking a sip of his coffee, Y/N then idly scrolls through his phone while on the chair, knowing that if anyone's going to come up to the hospital room, he's going to see them regardless. Besides, if you do actually see someone who sits vigilantly in a hospital while on guard, then please send link or it didn't happen.

About half an hour or so later, the door to the hospital room opens and Sam comes out while wiping her face as if she's tired. Y/N notices and glances up at her. "Hey." He says before looking back down on his phone.

"Hey..." Sam awkwardly does the same, the both of them trying to be as casual as possible. She then walks past Y/N, assumingly to go get something from the break room. However, she abruptly stops and slowly turns back around. "Hey, um..... thank you for looking out for Tara." She says to him with a genuinely grateful look. "I know you were probably told to stay home, so..."

Y/N looks back up at her and just shrugs. "I'm just.... fixing a mistake, that's all." He tells her modestly, feeling like he should've done more when Ghostface had Tara at their mercy like that. A smarter cop would've ignored the killer's demands and just went straight for her, taking all of the punishment, but he didn't, he fucked up, or so he keeps telling himself.

"Right." Sam responds quietly, Y/N almost not hearing her. She then continues to walk, leaving them both to their own devices. The deputy takes the moment to hum his father's favorite song to himself.

Like it or not, they know that both of them are going to talk, eventually.

(A/N) Alright, first actual chapter!

As you can see, I changed a lot from the original version, just to help the flow of the story instead of just impaling all of the MTV Scream stuff like I originally did. Unlike in the previous cut, this one won't have Lakewood be referenced as much, though that doesn't mean it'll get ignored.

Let me know what you think of each chapter, as I'm trying to make sure this story stays as solid as it can. Comment any grammar mistakes if you can, just no that I'll probably delete it after I fix it because I'm an insecure wuss.

plz vote and comment, any counts as feedback, and I'll see you in the next one
