Chapter 9: Terror Train

Central Park: Murder Scene

It went better than Y/N could ever imagined. Right after all of them left for the park, none of them expected for Danny for some reason, giving Quinn the perfect window to swiftly kill him while everyone else was doing their little operation. She just sneaked up and impales his neck with her trusty knife, watching as Danny gagged and choked on his own heart's liquid before dying, giving her free reign to cover his body in leaves and branches before hanging it up on the tree. Then, while Wayne was playing cop, all they had to do was have Y/N come to his car, Quinn tie him up, and for him to act like he was set up to get shot or beat up, leaving Quinn to just call Sam and have the rest play from there.

"I'm scared you guys." Mindy suddenly expresses to the others as they hang near the police tape while the park becomes a massive crime scene, breaking the very uneasy silence. It seems that even horror movie rules can't give anyone comfort anymore. "I really don't want to get hurt again."

"Neither do I." Chad shakenly agrees, causing Mindy to turn to him.

"I don't want you getting hurt again either."

"I know, I know..." Chad tells her, nodding as he puts his head onto her shoulder, the two pretty much hugging while Ethan awkwardly just stands around, not really knowing what to do or say when he's kind of on everyone's bad terms. "So what do we do now?" He then asks the big question, no one really has an answer while Tara and Y/N are still talking in the ambulance.

"Maybe he gets to win this time." Sam oddly answers as her eyes stay down at the grass, causing almost everyone to turn to her with a confused look. "He wants to punish me." She reminds them what the killer said during his first call. "Me. So maybe I let him. I'll just give myself up." She declares, the others can tell that losing Danny as well as having Gale kidnapped is starting to really effect her emotionally. "If this is what I have to do, to keep you safe... it's worth it."

"That's a really crazy idea Sam, but it's not necessary." Y/N chimes in as he and Tara then come back to the group, where everyone notices the new determined look on their faces, indicating that they already have another plan. "There's another way. "He then tells them, getting every one of the core four, plus Ethan's attention. "I, uh... I looked through some old purchases my friends made, and I found where the killer got those mementoes." He informs them, catching everyone's attention in a nanosecond.

"There's an abandoned theater which functions as a Stab shrine, with only one way to get in or out, that means we'll know when he's here and where he's coming from." Tara relays the information Y/N shared with her, glancing at everyone to see if they're on bored so far, it's obvious where they stand. "The killer's always coming after us, so let's use that against him."

"But, like, everyone sticks together this time." Y/N humorously comments, clearly referencing on what happened last time when at least one person split from them. Everyone gives each other a confident look, except maybe for Ethan, the one who Danny said had a secret that's been exposed to everyone except for them. But that aside, they're gonna have to keep fighting the killer.

They're just gonna need some professional help again first...

NYPD Station:

"I'm getting my ass chewed out for not dropping the case and now you want me to do what?" Wayne questions, acting as if he needs to know he's hearing this right. Obviously, he was the one who suggested that he, Y/N, and Quinn should now play their ultimate trump card in the first place.

"We want to lure him to a secure location and trap him inside." Tara re-phrases the plan to Wayne, already having the first, second, and third step in mind. With Halloween almost over, this seems to be the last shot for everyone, both killer and survivor.

"And then what?" Wanye questions, slightly surprised at how quickly they seemed to have gone along with a new move. I mean, a simple 'let's investigate' would've been fine for him, but Y/N had already gotten them to form another plan to easily outsmart them with? That kid is craftier than he gave him credit for.

"We execute him." Tara bluntly explains, clearly not in the mood for another attempted arrest. There's a small silence after that, with Wayne considering this for giving the green light. This is the moment, the moment he's finally been waiting for, his act of revenge against Sam Carpenter. It just now feels different than how he imagined it back then. He just really needs to do a quick re-work from his initial plan so he can tie up loose ends. "Are you gonna help us?" Tara asks, bringing Wayne back to the voice call he's still on.

"Let's kill the son of a bitch." Wayne declares, now all on board. "Now I'm stuck here, but it sounds like Y/N gave you the keycards to the theater. It's got heavy surveillance and security cameras, but we can use that against him. I'll tell Kirby to meet you there, and I'll join you as soon as I can." He then briefs them, assuming that everyone's listening to him right now, including Y/N.

"Got it."

"And remember, travel in public. The more people around, the less chance he has to take a shot at you before you get there." Wayne also advises, before noticing an officer on shift approaching his office. "My best bet would be the subway, see you soon." He quickly hangs up as the officers walks up to him with a folder in his hand.

"Hey, Detective Bailey. I.... I know you've been kicked off of the case, but..." The officers anxiously says as he glances around, to which Wayne eventually recognizes him as Jack. "I did that background check on Y/N and Kirby, and I believe that you really need to see what that boy has on him." He tells him before sliding the folder on his desk and quickly walking away.

Curious, Wayne then finally checks through Y/N's entire personal story. Let's see, rich parents, no surprise there.... still appears to be a film lover, judging by his experience at school. And says his backgrounds is.... Wait.... his dad's last name... it looks very.... well, shit!

Now the kid's a liability.

Marching together through New York City proves to be a unique experience thanks to the group's current situation. There's not really much talk going on, only for the small case of pointing out directions or week attempts at small talk, these usually end in about two sentences.

But while some feel tension and unease, there's obviously one person amongst them that is currently just acting that way to hide his excitement. He glances around, which appear like he's just paranoid, but obviously, he's trying to spot Quinn. Sure, he probably should have some faith that she's prowling them as planned, but of course, this is the one section of the plan where they kinda have to improvise and see what happens until they make it to the shrine.

To say that Y/N's anticipating the final act is a massive understatement to say the least, he and his gang have many plot twists that they'll get to show to Sam and Tara, and maybe someone else. And, well.... he has a lot to get off his chest, even if it's towards a group of un-real animals in his little dream.

Then, Y/N finally gets the brief hint of a black robe/cloak in an alleyway they pass. He spares a quick glance, making sure nobody's eyes are on him from the front of the line as he and the Ghostface exchange eye-contact with one another. The killer tilts her head at him while Y/N smirks and blows a kiss in her direction. Not really sure if they're supposed to be 'romantically' involved, but some acts like that don't hurt.

"Y/N, you okay?" Tara questions as she notices Y/N standing a bit far back. The guy snaps his head in her direction and glances back while Ghostface slips back into the shadows, acting as if something appeared and disappeared in a flash.

"Nothing, I, uh...." Y/N shakenly replies, letting out a big exhale as he notices Tara's worriment expression. "I think I'm... starting to see shit that isn't there." He comments with a shake of his hand as he rejoins the group. Tara curiously looks towards where Y/N was facing, but sees nothing but darkness, giving her a bad feeling. In the end, however, she also re-joins the group, as Y/N smile assuringly at her.

He can't really tell if he envies Quinn or not for whatever will happen next.

New York Subway:

Oh boy, is the crowd big. It's no wonder why Ghostface decided to wait until Halloween for their little massacre in such a big city like New York. Costumed meatbags with their own personality surround Sam, Tara, Mindy, Chad, Ethan, and Y/N around every turn, to the point that it's starting to make everyone nervous in their own different ways.

"Are you guys sure this is gonna work?" Ethan queries as they all head down the steps, quickly trying to find an open train before they're forced to stand in the middle of chaos boulevard. "I'm starting to feel like the more we go on, the more likely I'm gonna die next, and a massive theater is the perfect place for a fresh character like me to die."

"You don't have to come if you don't want to." Tara then brings up without sparing a look, reminding him that he has visible options. His fear is justified after all, and for all they know, the killer might be waiting for them there the entire they've walked.

"So we just peel off and the killer kills me or Y/N first? No thank you." Ethan remarks, still having the fact of being a new character introduced to Ghostface help install anxiety in his mannerisms.

"Oh gosh, this was a lot less nerve racking in my head..." Y/N mutters as he realizes that the number of public people is not just big, it's too big. "Honestly, we should've just cramped each other into the same car and delt with it." He remarks as he anxiously glances around.

"I am not allowing this guy a chance to stab the driver in the neck and kill the rest of us in one big car crash." Mindy immediately shoots that idea down, giving Ethan pointed look as he throws his hands up, persisting his innocence.

"Well, your lose." Y/N quips with a sarcastic look, gripping his jacket more tighter as all of them finally make their way down the stairs.

"Let's just get to the theater." Sam keeps the group on mission as they now have to deal with their next obstacle, the obnoxiously big crowd blocking their view and much of their way. Thankfully, the train going in the direction they're aiming at is perfectly in sight with its doors open. "Come on, in here."

"Ah, yes, because it'll be much less scary at the serial killer movie theater." Chad sarcastically mentions as some people shakenly follow Sam into the train, obviously poking at the sisters' optimism.

Tara, Sam, and Chad make it across, however, the other three fail to get past the massive blockade and they find themselves slightly split from the group. "Fuck..." Mindy swears as they fail to even get off the damn steps. "Wait, hey, hey, Chad!" She tries calling out to her brother while Ethan and Y/N also have difficulties following even her. "Hey! Fuck, Chad!"

"Tara!" Y/N also calls out, joined by Ethan as the other three finally notice their missing cast members. During which, Y/N bumps shoulders with one guy in a Brandon James mask. "Son of a bitch, get off me!"

"Wait, where's Mindy?" Chad questions as he turns around to find her sister falling behind, as well as the other two falling behind her. "Mindy! Mindy! Mindy!" He tries blocking the way with his arm, but after a few seconds, someone pulls him back and the doors fully close. "Lets- oh shit."

"Fuck!" Mindy frustratedly swears out loud, all of three of them having missed the train and did the one thing you should never do in these types of movies, split up from the group. As Y/N and Ethan finally catch up, they watch the others through the windows as the train takes off without them. "Fuck..."

"That's one word for it...." Y/N remarks as he lets out a sigh, out of all the people to split up with, he had to be with the ones that are falling behind. Great, that totally doesn't make timing a little more difficult. If Quinn didn't also take off with them, then maybe there's still some hope on that front.

"Oh man, we're so fucked now..." Ethan mutters even more shakingly, his tone muzzled with fear. "A-Are we gonna die? Is this the scene where one of us dies?" He quavers in his position, as Y/N glances at him with what seems like a little bit of sympathy, but then the two of them notice Mindy's expression towards them. "W-What?"

"Get your Ghostface asses away from me, Ghostfaces." Mindy barks she walks away to a different line, causing the two of them to exchange a glance. Despite moving, Mindy's head leans over to give them a pointed look every two minutes, causing Y/N to sigh.

"The one fucking rule of these movies is don't split up!" Y/N loudly brings up with a slightly offended look, to which Mindy gives him that same look again, causing him to sigh. "Doesn't really matter, gays always die, anyway." He then grumbles.

"What?" Ethan mutters.

"What?"

Meanwhile, as Sam, Tara, and Chad finally find each other amongst the huge crowd back on the train, the former notices their lack of numbers. "Where's Mindy?" She questions as she snaps around, mentally panicking.

"She missed the train." Chad tells her with a sigh, mentally angry that he was right there, but still failed to prevent them from splitting apart. "I was gonna wait for her, but someone suddenly grabbed by jacket and pulled me on."

"Impatient assholes..." Tara mutters as she now also grows worried about the others who failed to catch up with them, this definitely cuts some ties out of their favor. Then, the lights begin flickering, a common thing for New York trains, but a bad thing for them. Fortunately, Chad gets a text on his phone, and it's not from the killer.

"It's okay, it's okay." Chad tries reassuring the group, though his voice betrays his words. "She's with Ethan. She'll meet us there." He shares with them as he shows them the text from Mindy's cell, pretty much saying that they'll catch the next one and encourage them to keep heading to the theater once they get off. As he pockets his phone however, he looks up to see a small problem. "Oh shit..."

Sam follows his gaze and immediately sees what's wrong, among half of the costumes, there's a bucket load of Ghostfaces traveling with them. Aka, the perfect moment of hidden in plain sight for the killer. It doesn't help that the people wearing those masks also slowly turn their heads as if they're the character itself, guess it does have that effect on people.

"How many stops do we have?" Tara queries, also now getting more uneasy as they realize that the combination of flickering lights and Ghostface costumes are a pretty bad and good mix, good for the killer, bad for them. Sam checks the map, which shows that, unfortunately, they are pretty darn far from their destination.

"Ten." Sam answers, definitely not a soothing answer at all. The three all glance among each other, what should be calm before the storm ends up being another tense-filling moment of their night. Sadly, it gets worse, as the lights are now not just flickering, but briefly turning off every three seconds, covering the tram in darkness. Some riders hoot and holler as it fits their vibe, but the trios reaction are the complete opposite.

It's like a needle in a haystack... except the needle is planning to kill them.

On the other train, the situation isn't much better. They too are now reaching the point of the brief light situation, and thanks to massive mistrust within the group, unlike Sam, Tara, and Chad, they are all split together. Even though they all share the same cart, the three of them all stay at least six feet minimum from each other.

Mindy glances at her two main suspects, Ethan awkwardly giving her a small wave, and then towards Y/N who just gives her a brow raise at best. Obviously, her squinting indicates that she's pretty much waiting for them to make a murderous move, even more so thanks to the lights. But, in the end, it won't be that easy. Seeing all the Ghostface killers on their train puts her on even higher alert mode.

Oh boy.... here we go...

__________________________

As the train makes it to it's first stop, Sam's eye catches something. A Ghostface wearer, standing up straight, directly at her. Her breathing slows and her skin cools as the person doesn't take their eye off her, keeping it straight towards her group.

However, as soon as one head breezes past her vision, they're gone. Sam nervously glances at other directions to see where they went, but the cloaked figure has been amongst the crowd of others.

The others don't notice it....

On the other train, the tense relationship between Mindy, Ethan, and Y/N have not changed by a long shot. Mindy's phone chimes in and she checks it to see a text from Chad, pretty much just asking for a status report.

Chad: U on the next train?

Mindy side-glances both Ethan and Y/N before replying. Despite this, she doesn't notice Y/N's eyes slowly looming towards her.

You: Yes w Y/N and Ethan aka GF

She presses send, but the phone clearly shows a hard time of doing that as it stays on sending for more than a second. Mindy squints, trying to get signal back to her phone while Y/N's eyes stay pointed directly at her, his expression suddenly blankest than ever.

Realizing that there's no point, Mindy sighs and just tucks her phone back in her pocket. During which, a figure in a Ghostface costume steps towards her, much to her unnoticed. Before she knows it, the stranger lunches at her.... before laughing as Mindy jumps in fright, frustratedly sighing as she moves somewhere else. "Sorry!" The masked passenger says before taking a seat.

Mindy now leans her back on the opposite side of the train with a sigh, something the others notice, as a few of them take a step closer to her. She doesn't take it too well, expectedly, as once she sees them, she simply gives them another pointed look. However, she catches something at the bottom her eye. Looking down, she sees another Ghostface wearing stranger sitting down, their head down while their posture is as still as rocks.

Mindy gets another sense of unease as she briefly stares at him.

________________________________

"Still nothing from Mindy..." Chad worriedly mutters after getting to text back from his sister, giving him a really bad feeling. He hopes it's just tunnel interference instead of the possible worst that has happened.

The train then lands at its next stop, and as passengers get off board, Sam sees him again. The same Ghostface looking at her. "Guys...." Sam nervously calls their attention, and they glance at her before eventually noticing the stranger as well. And while everyone gets off, the figure walks towards her, shouldering past the others, getting closer. Chad notices this and steps in the way, right as the passenger makes a swift turn out the door.

Another false alarm.

________________________

After Mindy, Ethan, and Y/N's train continues on from its last stop, a group of the newcomers prove to be very insistent on standing with one another, so much that they bump shouldwers with Mindy and practically force her away from their little group. "Hey, fuck you...." Mindy whispers as she's forced to the back of the train, Y/N and Ethan leaning from their respective sides to get a better look as they now lose sight of her.

With her back once again on the window, Mindy scans all of the passengers in front of her, some sitting, some standing, though all of them don't seem to be paying much attention to her. That is, until the next small black out. As Mindy keeps her suspicious eye on the Ghostface, the second the lights are back on, their head is now looking at her direction.

Mindy takes a big swallow, the now much more frequent light switching is now making her more and more weary. However, there's not much she can do in a space like this, which is definitely the scariest part. When the lights come back on again, the masked passenger is standing, still staring straight at her. Now, she feels her breathing getting uneven. During another one, a few passengers start laughing as they share a joke between themselves, however, it feels more like they're laughing at Mindy right now... at her terror.

Now, the lights get even worse. As the train reaches the center of the tunnel, this particular black out goes on for about thirty seconds, during which, Mindy can only see the figure moving out of view from their original spot, but not where they went. The laughing continues, echoing across the entire train. Mindy tries scanning for a possible moving shadow, but even the lights of the train tunnel can't help her. The lights flick back on... and the person's gone, the only Ghostface Mindy sees is the one on the other train, staring through the window.

Then, comes another, lights go off, though lasting much quicker than the last one. As they flick back on.... the Ghostface is right in front of her, and before she can react, the killer has their hand on her mouth and blade in her stomach. Mindy's muffled screams go unnoticed by the sleeping duo and headphone wearing hummer sitting next to her. Ghostface is clearly trying to now make it look like they're either whisper amongst each other, or doing something else with their mouths as no other passengers notice her from where they're standing... even Ethan and Y/N. Mindy can feel and hear her heartbeat thumping as she grunts and groans under the killer's glove, her resistance earning her another stab from the killer, who the twists it around, letting it scratch her guts. She whimpers as she slinks to the ground, the killer keeping their eye on her the whole way through.

The train then reaches its next stop, as well as the group's destination. Ghostface then pulls the knife out, exiting the train with the rest of the other passengers, leaving Mindy bloody and week on the train. With less people blocking his vison, Ethan turns towards Mindy, however, Y/N taps his shoulder and nods his head over, hinting that they've reached their destination. And with that, the two also get off the train, one of whom is none the wiser.

Mindy is left to bleed out....

______________________________

Sam, Tara, and Chad have also reached their destination, marching up the stairs where they make a turn around and finally meet with Kirby who's been waiting for them for who knows how long. "Hey. I talked to Bailey, I've got everything set up." She informs them before doing a mental headcount, and noticing half of the group missing. "Where are Mindy, Ethan, and Y/N?"

"They're five minutes behind us." Tara tells her, advising them to keep going for now, planning to wait for the others later. Kirby nods, though her blank expression definitely hides some feeling of a bad omen in her gut.

"Let's get you all inside." Kirby nods her head over for them to follow, and the two make their way to the abandoned theater which isn't that far a walk. During which, Kirby notices that the others also hide bad feelings behind their blank expressions. Chad for his sister, Tara for her and Y/N, and Sam... after Danny.

They're right to be worried.

_______________________________

"Where the heck is Mindy?" Ethan shakenly questions into air as he notices that it's been at least a couple minutes as she still hasn't gotten on the platform with them. Y/N turns to see that she's missing as well, raising his brows with a hum.

"It's way too crowded in here, we must have missed her." Y/N suggests with a shrug, giving the guy a knowing look. It wouldn't be that much of a surprised if she even decided to flee from them before they could notice, still thinking that they were the killers. "Come on, let's get out of the crowd." He advises, heading towards the stairs as Ethan sighs, before hesitantly following him as well.

The two eventually finds themselves back on the streets of New York, darker and more intimidating. There's still no Mindy and sight, and their illusion of safety is now crumbling around them after losing a returning character.

"Oh, oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck." Ethan shakingly sweats as he grips his head with both hands, the possibility that Mindy might have died without them noticing finally becoming a likely outcome. "We're gonna die next, I'm gonna die next."

"We're fine, let's just keep going." Y/N breaks Ethan out of it, touching his shoulder and pulling him back to the task at hand. "Looks like the others already went ahead, so let's catch up with them." He then advises, planning to bring him to another dark alley. Ethan nervously nods, and the two get going.

The then walk to theater, shoulder to shoulder, both of them not making eye contact with each other. Y/N gets a clue to act, but as he's reaching for his belt, Ethan is the one who suddenly grabs him by the shoulders and shoves him into an alleyway.

He's then tackled to the ground, embarrassingly by Ethan who's caught him off guard. "Got you!" He exclaims before quickly reaching into his pocket and pulling out a switch blade he quickly presses the button on. As he raises it for a stab, Y/N grabs his wrist and kicks him away with both feet, sending him a couple feet away.

"Smart, I didn't think you had it in you." Y/N remarks as he slowly gets back up, slowly pulling out his hunting knife while Ethan keeps his blade trained on him. He then slashes it towards Y/N who dodges the three knife swings with some difficulty thanks to the narrow area they're in. He counters with a poke in his ribs, causing Ethan to groan as he holds his new wound. Y/N sees a window to follow up, but Ethan quickly reacts by slashing his jacket with quick timing.

"You think none of us would recognize who you were?!" Ethan loudly questions as the two take a brief pause in the battle. "I've been researching Ghostface shit when I was a kid, and after Gale suddenly went missing, it wasn't too hard to guess why. Because she would've recognized Richie's family..." He growls at him.

"Oh, well done, you figured it out, though that would've been a lot easier for you if you spoke your mind earlier." Y/N remarks with a look as he plays with his knife, Ethan glances down a bit, seemingly regretting that he couldn't.

"No one would believe me, no one believes a nobody." Ethan mentions with a low and depressed tone, before looking back at Y/N with red in his eyes. "But you... I can still change the script with you." He menacingly points his switch blade at Y/N's nose. "If only the others saw the news, they would've figured out that Y/N was-"

He's cut off when he abruptly screams in pain thanks to a knife in the back, curtesy of Ghostface. The blade goes deeper and deeper until it reaches Ethan's spine, causing him to fall to the floor, unable to stand up. Y/N sadistically watches as Ghostface kneels down, pulls Ethan's head up, and puts their blade to his threat, slowing slicing it from ear to ear. Ethan's gagging mixed with the sound of cut flesh go on for three minutes before the killer slams his head on the concrete, the kid now finally dead.

Y/N lets out a small exhale as Ghostface looks up to share eye contact with him. "Not bad..." He comments with a nod, and the killer tilts her head at him with more of a blush as they slowly take the mask of Stu Macher off.

Quinn Bailey's face turns into a smirk as she steps towards him. "Thank you~" She replies in a lightful tone, leaning in to give Y/N an affection kiss on the lips. He returns it, wrapping his arms around Quinn's waist as the two stay like that right next to Ethan's dead, but still bleeding body. However, as Quinn starts putting in her tongue, her hand looming down to Y/N's zipper, he then has to pull away.

"Sorry baby, but we can't this time, we're on a stricter time crunch." Y/N then reminds her, giving a apologetic look. Quinn rolls her eyes and sighs, but understands as she reluctantly pulls away from him. "Alright, assuming they took the elevator, we'll take the other way around." He advises as the two make their way back to their destination, with Quinn nodding after putting her mask back on. Y/N then smirks.

It's time for the final act.
